PREVARICATION – IT’S WHAT THEY DO…

Professor Phil Jones, the man whose statistics-manipulating department at CRU is at the heart of ClimateGate, has stepped down, pending an investigation of what went on. To my amazement, the BBC is reporting the story this morning, but – true to form – the main aim of the item is to put across the professor’s point of view, that “sceptics” (climate realists) have taken his words out of context and the whole thing is a storm in a teacup.

Meanwhile, the real media gets on with reporting the facts. Bishop Hill has an item suggesting that Michael Mann and Professor Jones conspired together to knock climate realists using questionable data. And the redoubtable Lord Monckton has published a PDF report summing up the whole ClimateGate affair.

Compare and contrast that to the whitewash spouted yesterday by the BBC’s Roger Harrabin.

NOT WITH A BANG, BUT A WHIMPER…

Today is the day that Britain lost almost 1,000 years of independence and became a vassal state of the EU. The Lisbon treaty (aka the European Constitution) came into effect. How did the BBC mark the event? With a predictable homily about how the ‘treaty’ has streamlined decision-making and will make the UK a much better place.

Meanwhile, the real EU agenda is becoming clearer. The Open Europe think tank has this in its daily press-round up:

A headline in Le Figaro quotes Michel Barnier saying “The Commission is the EU’s Prime Minister”. The paper notes that Barnier said the European Commission “is a bit like the Prime Minister of Europe, a collective Prime Minister bringing together 27 countries which are united in their destiny.” Of the new EU President Herman Van Rompuy he said: “he is a man of authority, who is going to surprise you. He will be perfect for this role”.

Chances of the BBC reporting honestly our descent into further servitude? Zilch.

HARRABIN THE OSTRICH

How ostrich-like is Roger Harrabin? Very, is the answer. His latest post on ClimateGate discusses the veracity or otherwise of the IPCC. Yet again, he deals with the topic without reference to a single climate realist. And throughout, he assumes that the IPCC is, and has been, a legitimate scientific undertaking.

He also asserts that irrespetive of what happened at CRU:

Other scientists tell me they doubt the inquiry will affect the main course of scientific opinion, as the CRU temperature data set is very similar to the two other global sets, both in the US.

Does he read anything but that which confirms his own views? Bishop Hill has this about GISS (the main US equivalent of CRU):

Since about 1990, there has been a reduction in thermometer counts globally. In the USA, the number has dropped from 1850 at peak (in the year 1968) to 136 now (in the year 2009). As you might guess, this has presented some “issues” for our thermal quilt. But do not fear, GIStemp will fill in what it needs, guessing as needed, stretching and fabricating until it has a result.

Who do you believe? A snake-oil salesman from the BBC or someone who actually researches and writes honestly about a topic which he knows about?

BBC FAMILY TREES..

Biased BBC contributor Chris Hartnett writes..

Just back from a few days away to find that one Robin Ince has got a science/comedy programme series starting today. Robin is a sidekick of Ricky Gervais and had Dara O` Briain on as a guest.
My problem is this-all three are militant atheists who have appeared at various functions to mock Christmas amongst other things. This is not to say that they may not be funny…I don`t know…but can I assume that their atheism is a major link in them all getting commissions and the invitations on each others shows. Wonder if, in the cause of “balance”, we will now get a few Christians being able to appoint each other in an unthreatening and lucrative way?

It seems to me that a Marcus Brigstocke would never get a platform to go on Question Time as a ” comedian” if his brother was not something big at the Beeb-his atheistic and zealous “global warming” views are a boon to his career-because,let`s face it-in this case I Do know-he just is not (and never has been) funny!

Just feel that there is a rather creepy consensus going at by the BBCs commissioning types-same prep schools, same names and certainly same views on Europe,on “global warming” and on Christianity(but not too much said about Islam-cannot think why!) Looking forward to the BBC doing a “Family Tree” type programme on who knows who from where-and who gets to “be funny” at the taxpayers expense!

P.S-Couldn`t help but notice that we recently celebrated the first anniversary of the Ross and Brand incident with Leonard Sachs...surely this was an “iconic” moment on which contemporary BBC protocols and procedures were forged in the white heat of controversy and drame-why then no programme to mark those tremendous events of late Oct/Nov last year? I`m sure Paxman and Wheeler were by the wall in Lime Grove with fireworks so there MUST be some archive filmstock left…so why was this anniversary allowed to go unremarked upon?…God knows, the BBC usually have no reticence over marking far lesser anniversaries…answers on a postcard please but not to Blue Peter yet!

MORE EGGSCRUCIATING DHIMMIFICATION

I am sure you may have seen this “Tory Muslim Peer pelted with eggs” story. A B-BBC reader points out….

You have to get to the 3rd para before you realise she’s been pelted with eggs by fellow Muslims. It could have been the BNP or EDL or even those equally fascist Zionist Jews. But no… So why not,”Muslim protesters pelt tory peer Warsi with eggs” as a headline?

I suggest that the reason is simple – the dhimmified BBC wants to play down the rampant intolerance of a significant section of Muslims living in Britain.

PULL DOWN THAT WALL?

A reader asks….

“As a matter of interest, did anyone see Matt Frei’s three part series on Berlin? Overall it was enjoyable and sympathetic. but his treatment of the fall of the Wall made no mention whatever of Ronald Reagan – having portrayed JFK as a continuing inspiration – certainly no footage of the Gipper’s call for Mr Gorbachev to \’tear down that wall\’. He contented himself with the remark that east Germany ‘imploded’ with no further explanation or contextualisation than that. Quite dreadful.

GET WITH THE MEME

So, just in case you are a slow learner and don’t realise that every war the US now fights is ‘Nam all over again, on the day that Obama will announce more US troops for the war in Afghanistan, Today runs an excerpt from Lyndon Johnson’s speech in 1965 announcing more US troops for…yes, you’ve guessed correctly, Viet Nam.

A SCARE A DAY..

As we inch closer and closer to Copenhagen, the BBC runs a story claiming that sea levels could rise by four and a half feet! Our pal Richard Black manages to run this ludicrous claim without so much as one word to the contrary from the reality based community. The “science” gets looser by the day but the BBC is hyping this like there is no day after tomorrow…
