Ooh lookie

– a BBC report about Nalchik (the centre of terrorist violence recently) which accomplishes their wish not to include even a mention of Islam. I commented on the general trend here at my own site earlier on. In this report they are militants they are rebels they are rebels affiliated with Chechens; but for all we know from this report, they are not Islamists- nor are they terrorists.

Now, I’m just wondering when the stealth edit might come. It’s the routine delay between original disingenuous report and the ultimately more factual one which fuels one’s suspicions that the misleading is not accidental, but relates to BBC policy.

    The correct term is…

Insurging rebel militant guerrilla forces that in no way can be described as Muslim or terrorists. Ever.

Sounds a bit like obsession with Islamic menace. Chechens turned to militant Islam only after Russia turned to wage a war on them and the West betrayed Chechenia like the Eastern Europe in WW2. Islamic rogues were the only to lend a support.

OT How sweet, a BBC love-in for Bush hating President Chavez……

    Ask Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez

Some hilarious comments from BBC regulars/socialist workers:

Mr Chavez, you are to be commended for your stand against poverty, and the less than sympathetic capitalist nations. I know socialism is the only reasonable form of government, and that it can work. It worked in Britain in the 1960s, and I trust will work for many years in Venezuela.

??!! funniest thing I’ve read this morning!

Trust a jerk from Ontario to think that socialism works. Trust the BBC to make it their first inane comment of the day.

This one of those times you really wish you had a Star Trek transporter to beam the (no doubt) nicey whitey comfortably middle-class Grimes with all his fruits of capitalism to somewhere like 1966 East Germany, or 1975 Mozambique just to see how he’d like Socialism In Action.

Even my home town of Liverpool circa 1975 would do.

    Nice one, Espresso.
Socialism does indeed work, but only for those on top of the system. It depends for its continued existence on the maintenance of an alienated client underclass, denied access to proper schooling – comprehensives are a brilliant way of keeping talented working-class children in their place – or to proper healthcare (we needn’t go into the NHS here, not enough space).
Above it needs a propaganda arm, punting out the story that everything’s fine’n’dandy, all evidence to the contrary. Ideally it should be funded by a poll tax….

Socialism works like a dream.Under duress we give our cash to an authoritarian monolith called the BBC who spend it on the destruction of Human Initiative, Self Reliance, Excellence, Tradition, Nation Statehood, Monarchy, The Christian Tradition, The Conservative Party and anything that seeks to reduce the size of government and the influence of the State.

We live in Cuba without the Climate.

When islam is identified as the motivating force behind so much violence in the world today, from Nigeria to the Philippines, is it any wonder people take a bit of notice when 200 of its followers attack a town in southern Russia?

Chechens turned to militant Islam only after Russia turned to wage a war on them and the West betrayed Chechenia like the Eastern Europe in WW2.

Somehow I don’t think Chechnya was ever going to be another break away Baltic state, no matter how hard the champions of Chechnya try to white wash all the banditry and lawlessness of the place. When they were given a degree of autonomy after the first war, what happened? Raids, beheadings and hospitals seized in surrounding regions. That’s what happened.

Betraying Chechnya? I didn’t realise the west had even considered the place a separate country, let alone signed a military pact with it. The west hasn’t betrayed anyone and owes nothing to Chechnya.

May I remind the UK and other Western countries have refused Chechen extradiction to Russia regarding ongoing as the internal armed conflict where Geneva conventions apply. They authorise adversary extermination so Nalchik attack was legitimate taking into account its targets.
Probably the West doesn’t owe much to Chechenia regretfully it has betrayed lots of nations.

You mean the British National Health Service isn’t the envy of the world after all?

I’m shocked, shocked I tells ya, because for years we’ve been assured by the Beeboids and the Grauniods that it is.

What’s the world coming to when you can’t believe the Institutionally Leftists?

    Ritvars,

Didn’t the Russians sign a peace pact with the Chechnans in the mid-90s giving them nearly everything they wanted? Which the Chechies then promptly violated by invading Dagestan and trying to spread their jihad crap there too?

I have zero respect for them, they shoot four-year-olds in the back (while the Beeb claims that they are being merciful by supposedly aiming for their legs).

    Espresso –
Given that no other country on the planet has adopted the British NHS model, it would seem to be one of those great British inventions – hovercraft, Concorde – that the rest of the world seems able to take or leave, and mostly leaves.
The only problem is that the NHS needlessly kills about 5,000 extra people a year over what might be expected in a remotely efficient service operating with comparable (really rather generous) levels of “resource” ie money. It’s a good job it gets endless free positive publicity from its ugly twin sister, the BBC.

You may indeed. And it’s an absolute bloody disgrace that the UK and others have been mug enough to give sanctuary, houses and welfare hand outs to some of these “rebels”, all courtesy of the tax payer.

They shouldn’t have been allowed in in the first place.

    Susan,
Russia did sign a peace with Chechenia giving nearly everything they wanted – but independence.
What happened in 1999? Chechen Islamists invaded Dagestan, Russian own Federal Security Service bombed Moscow, Volgodonsk and Buynaksk residential buildings (and was thwarted in Ryazan) and the Kremlin made use of both to make a scaremongering campaign, invade Chechenia and push Putin for president.
I have to pay respect to the UK where nobody tried to conquer Ireland or invent zero-tolerance towards Irishmen for IRA deeds.
    BoyBlue,
I’m not the UK taxpayer, true, but I suppose there are more important areas to roll back the state e.g. a flat tax or funded pensions.
For me as one who has lived under Russian occupation hosting Chechen refugees and rebels is rather another side of a stomach the country has: like sheltering Eastern Europeans who fled from the red menace in WW2, expelling more than 100 Russian spies at once and being the favourite place for defecting Russian spies to escape to.
