Leaving BBC bias aside for a moment,

how about a spot of BBC ignorance, of the why are we forced to pay for this tosh? variety?

In Genette police file for charges our sharp-minded, ever astute BBC journos report:

Prosecutors are to consider whether to charge a man with the abduction and murder of a Devon schoolgirl in 1978.

Genette Tate, 13, vanished while cycling on her newspaper round in Aylesbeare, where she lived.

Devon and Cornwall Police, who have reinvestigated the case, will send a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) early next year.

It will ask the CPS to consider whether charges can be brought against Robert Black, 57, for the murder of Genette.

Britain’s longest missing person inquiry began in August 1978 when Genette’s bicycle and papers were discovered lying in Within Lane at Aylesbeare.

No trace of Genette has ever been found, but detectives discovered that Mr Black was in the area at the time she went missing.

All well and good, and then they conclude with:

Police have held three lengthy interviews with Mr Black in Yorkshire where he lives.

It’s certainly true to say that Robert Black lives in Yorkshire, but stopping the story there make one wonder if having an interest in current affairs, reading newspapers and even just watching the news is still required for BBC journalists and sub-editors these days, for you see, with a little more effort, as little even as typing “Robert Black” into Google and clicking ‘I’m Feeling Lucky!’, even the most otherwise ignorant of BBC journalists should have been able to track down Black’s current address (and hence the rest of the story):

5 Love Lane

Wakefield

West Yorkshire

WF2 9AG

…to be precise, where he has been resident, courtesy of Her Majesty, since his conviction in 1994 for the murders of three other young girls, Susan Maxwell, 11, Sarah Harper, 10 and Caroline Hogg, 5.

Next they’ll be trying to tell us that Gibraltar is an island!

N.B.: The BBC’s story is timestamped 18:04BST yesterday, and was featured on the front page of News Online until 02:05BST this morning, before being relegated to the West/South West corner of the England page, whilst drivel like Women ‘can’t cook to save their lives’, says celebrity chef, which has been front page ‘news’ since 10.35BST yesterday, remains.

Update: Just in case anyone thinks that publishing the above address is encouraging mob-rule, please do click on the Her Majesty link before complaining! Black is in more danger from his nearest and dearest, with whom he lives, than he is from anyone else. Nor is the matter sub-judice. Even if it were, it is inconceivable that Black’s existing record would go unmentioned in court if there is a trial. His 1994 murder trial depended on the admission of his 1990 abduction conviction as ‘similar fact evidence’.

Update 2 (3pm): The Beeboids have now sneaked back while no one was looking and stealth edited the final paragraph to read:

Police have held three lengthy interviews in Yorkshire with Mr Black.

Nice to know you’re out there paying attention, but would it have been too much to do the decent thing and mention the murder of the young girls for whom Black is currently incarcerated, as you’ve done before?

Whoah-whooah, hang on there. I’m the first to admit that the BBC is the most “pro-Islamic terrorist, anti-white English heterosexual” outlet of news going, and also it would seem that this Mr Black has a previous record, but to publish his home address in relation to an as-yet-unproven (and untried) case, that seems to be overstepping the bounds of impartiality, and to be riding roughshod over the presumption of innocence. We’re no longer in the age of the witch trials, so would you kindly take that address offline now?
Or do you want to be seen as encouraging out-and-out lynch-mob rule? That was totally irresponsible of this website, IMO, and it only serves to weaken your argument, which I generally agree with very strongly.
The police and the courts may be far from perfect, but they mostly do their jobs well, they don’t need this kind of “assistance” in ensuring that justice prevails. Conjecture, and “putting two and two together, where there’s smoke there’s fire, wink wink nudge nudge, say no more, just look at his previous” is NOT “evidence”.
Please act every bit as as impartially as you would wish certain others to act. You only stoke the fires of your detractors by doing otherwise.

Adendum to the above comment: Do you not realise that Mr B, if he is charged and brought to trial for the alleged offence, can rightly claim that the publication of his address on this site prejudices his right to a fair trial? If anyone believes he might possibly be guilty and hopes for him to receive justice, you are actively diminishing the chance of that ever happening, merely by publishing that address.

But you can be forgiven for going off like that. After all, who would have thought that ‘Love Lane’ would be the address for a prison?

Re the report, I think the BBC must take people off the street, teach them to type, pay them the minimum salary possible and get them to cover stories like this.

Well, maybe that’s a bit harsh. But I like bashing them.

This little ditty featuring the CPS dovetails nicely with the story on radio 4 to which I woke up this morning. Naughtie’s soothing tones announced that we’ll be discussing the Senate Committee’s latest accusations against George Galloway with Mr Galloway himself. I thought WHAT! he’s on again. But then, right of reply etc. is what Naughtie et al would argue. Fair enough.
Now then, on 2nd November (the anniversary of Theo van Gogh’s murder) the CPS are commencing the trial of a certain Nick Griffin of the BNP. The CPS accuse Mr Griffin of inciting racial hatred early last year when he stated that he considers that muslims will attempt to bomb London and that the perpetrators will be 2nd-generation pakistanis. Whilst twelve policemen from the Yorkshire Constabulary were busily compiling the case against Griffin, a number of muslims in Yorkshire were finalising their plan of attack against London (this is not meant to be irony).
On or around the 2nd of November, will Radio 4’s willingness to grant right of reply to George Galloway be extended to Nick Griffin?

Speaking of BBC ignorance and on to a different topic, over the weekend I am positive I heard the BBC correspondent covering Hurricane Wilma from Cancun going wild about how intense the storm was and saying something to the effect that the area had never experienced anything like this before. Never heard of Hurricane Gilbert – 202 killed in Mexico in 1988?

It was like hurricanes were an innovation – probably due to the nasty USA causing the greenhouse effect.

With regards to Mr Black and his potential future trial, is it not the case that previous convictions are not brought up at trial but only taken into consideration upon sentencing?

On the subject of George Galloway, its interesting to note on the BBCs news homepage, that underneath his picture and the headline about this latest scandal,is a link saying “thousands send MP support”,implying that the support is for this latest bit of news, but when you click the link its dated May 26th,and is a report from his appearence in front of the senate committee earlier this year.

I’m still concerned that the true events in Brimingham this week have still not been reported by the BBC.

The young man that was stabbed to death, was black, and killed by 11 asian youths. This young man had nothing to do with the violence.

And yet, if that was an young man killed by a group of white youths, we wouldnt hear the end of it.

I find this double standards an insult.

Racism exists in the UK, and its about time the BBC accepted it wasnt just white people who commit offences.

I find this sheltering of certain communities unequal, unbalanced and most definately biased.

Well done BBC. You’ve shown your true colours.

    Ian Barnes,

Very true. I find it quite shocking that its rapidly been dropped from the news. As you say, imagine if it had been – and I shall stick my neck out a little more – an Asian youth killed by 11 white men.

Killings of this nature should be reported in full. I dont know what it has to do with skin colour/religion. But the (B)BBC seems to think it does matter.

Does this also explain the Beebs non-stop mocking of Mr Staws trip to the southern states?

For some reason I thought about the childrens news shown on BBC1 “Newsround”.

Has anyone else thought how worrying it is that the BBC should present its version of the news to impressionable children?

For example – I know for a fact that they poo poo the USA quite often on it.

Another – All these hurricanes could be due to global warming. If you tell kids this stuff often enough… well..

If they cant be trusted with news for grown ups (as we can see) how can they be trusted to give fair and balanced news to that age group.

    Just a thought.

The silence coming from the BBC and the Commission for Racial Equality is deafening on this one. No doubt the whole UK multicultural establishment is busy trying to dream up a way to blame the Birmingham riots on the rest of Britain.

Look out for articles and news reports in the near future blaming poverty as a factor, poverty due of course to the ‘racism’ of the British state. Not forgetting to mention the alienation of the “yooth” and the ‘institutionalised racism’ of the police force of course, blah, blah, blah…..

All the same tired old clichés that have been dragged out time after time, decade after decade will be used to excuse those the left have chosen to put on a pedestal.

I’m listening to the director of the World Service being interviewed on Newsnight regarding the proposed launch of the BBC Arabic TV channel and I disinctly hear him talking about the importance of the BBC’s presence in this ‘market’.
I’m sorry if my economics are a bit rusty but doesn’t the word ‘market’ generally imply that some body is selling something and therefore by implication a buyer is paying for it. Well, at £20 million of our taxes I can work out who’s doing the paying and five minutes of listening to the BBC interviewing itself leaves little doubt who’s doing the selling but I just can’t find a buyer involved anywhere.
Anyway, just as well they’re pulling out of directing their propaganda at eastern europe. Shouldn’t think the Beeb’s brand of warmed-over socialist collectivism is precisely the dish of the day in those parts recently.
