… Justin Webb on yesterday’s Radio Five Drive show, being interviewed about Kate Couric, new CBS news anchor. He spoke about how the big networks were losing market share to cable and the internet.
“There ate three groups of people who don’t watch the evening news any more, and they are intelligent people, young people, and right-wing people – and obviously there are some people who fall into all three categories – at least (laughs) arguably – so right-wing people tend to watch Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, intelligent people tend to not bother with the telly at all, and young people get their news from the internet where they get it at all.”
I wonder what happened to the American left ? I suppose that’s synonymous with intelligent.
If anyone wants to listen, it’s here for a week (Wednesday’s show, 2h53m in).

All regretably true. However people that vote do pay more attention to politics than they will ever admit. Also the independant infomation available, helps to alert the young to the reality of the world.
This is very new. It is a big challenge to dictatorial goverments around the world. That thought they could control the people though their state media forever, by just lieing.
Our voteing youth have been fed a left-wing line all their lives. The voteing youth of tomorrow will not be so easy to confuse. Even if they seem to be playing video games a lott, the truth will always come out in the end. After all it is they who are going to be charged for everything and still be paying 75% of their income in taxes. We will be retired, living in Spain and laughing at them. Tony will be in Italy laughing at everyone,

This BBC story tells of a photographer murdered by the Israeli defence force as a British jury has decided he was unlawfully killed. In all the recent cases where a verdict of unlawful killing has been returned by a jury the BBC never decides to refer to the killing as murder. This time they do, and it includes the Israelis. What a surprise.

The death was sad – but wandering around in Palestine is a dumb thing to do. Other Brits go to the Middle East to stir up trouble – or blow up Mike’s Bar.
Sorry – sympathy is one thing, bu the BBC is blowing this out of proportion. Stirring it to nil effect.

I watched fully 15 seconds of BBC news tonight. This is now,all it takes.
The reporter described the Americans, having the current row with Red Ken as, “Not so far having a change of heart”. So only people without a “heart” dont believe in paying exstortionate goverment taxes. Or it is heartless to disagree with wonderfull Ken Livingstone about anything. Thankfully this will be the last few years we will be having to put up with the BBCs first, most favorate racist, sexist, Nazi, loony.
The second has got himself a regular spot on Talksport radio. Even George does not seem to trust the BBC anymore. Just maybe he had a concience about taking money exstorted from the countries poor and elderly. More likely it was because he would not get censored as much as he would at the BBC.

You won’t find this story repeated by the BBC however:

JERUSALEM – A Palestinian suicide bomber blew himself up just outside a Jewish settlement in the northern West Bank on Thursday night, killing four Israelis, authorities said.
Israeli officials said it appeared that the bomber hitched a ride with the Israelis, perhaps by disguising himself as a religious Jew, and then set off the explosives inside the vehicle as it approached the Kedumim settlement.

Surely an inquest-jury ?
Then again did we ever have an inquest into Mohammed Siddique Khan or Ken Bigley or either of those two “British” suicide bombers that went to do their deed in Israel ?

Its good that you mention that their is such a thing as black Jews. Devotees of the BBC would have no idear. I have seen and met plenty on my recent visit to Israel. The state finds them respectable jobs and does its best to house and educate them. Our goverment just talk and talk and talk but dont even make a serious effort to walk the walk. How could anyone learn anything in our state school?
Israel is the only socialist country that works at all, for the benifit of its citizens, in the world. There is always irony and paradox, as well as lies, where the BBC is concerned.
As my mother used to say. “Tell one lie and you will end up telling a hundred, just to cover it up.”

I’m just listening to the BBC deliberately scare-mongering over ‘bird flu’. It seems to me that there’s a bit of a Y2K wind-up going on here (Y2K – the IT scam whereby UK-based organisations were persuaded by IT personnel to spend circa £2 billion to prevent computers crashing clocks in computers were to crash at the change 1999 to 2000. Korea spent zero. Guess who was right?) and the BBC are leading it, especially when the BBC get to moralise against drug companies as I hear now. Question to the BBC: who else would manufacture any drugs to counter any such flu? The BBC has just stated that during the last great flu, the US closed its borders and that it’s to be hoped that this time around there will be no such self-centred behaviour. I’ve never heard such shit be broadcast, even by the BBC. How do they always manage to attack the US regardless of the subject?

“Would BBC have the guts to ask the same question of Libya after Libya voluntarily agreed to dismantle their nuclear weapons program seeing what happened to Iraq and it’s leaders? BBC probably would not even post this comment. Why you ask? It’s a success story and not in their agenda to support US success story. Iraq is where it should be in this long process to democracy. Just look at the history.

The World Service has been giving the 5-hour arrest by the Israelis of yet another Hamas terrorist such spin that it’s sort of gained its own momentum. It was interesting to observe the subtle shifts in emphasis as the story of the arrest of the ‘cabinet minister’ developed. [My emphasis in bold.]
Early afternoon GMT.
Matthew Price reporting:
This highlights two things: first and foremost, the daily reality for Palestinians. Israel controls and increasingly is putting stricter controls on daily travel for Palestinians. Secondly, it shows, I think, that Israel is not proposing to give any slack at all to the new Hamas administration.
Early evening GMT.
The BBC is by now sympathetically reporting on the horrendous experience suffered by the unfortunate terrorist. He was not given a proper room, but was put in a place containing Israeli military equipment! He was not interviewed by senior Israeli military personnel. Oh, the horror!
A reinvigorated and indignant Matthew Price again, after rubbing shoulders for a few hours with the BBC’s favourite ‘victim’ group – Palestinian terrorists:
This affair highlights two things: first, the daily travel restrictions that Israel places on Palestinians, whoever they are and second, that Israel clearly intends to make things as difficult as possible for the ministers of the new Hamas government.
Amazing, isn’t it. Just a few hours in the company of terrorists and another biased BBC ‘journalist’ feels compelled to make it absolutely clear that he thinks they are not only legitimate, but people of stature, deserving of respectful treatment.
Watch the intrepid BBC rush to be first in line to legitimise Hamas. Anyone who doubted that the BBC are terrorist lackeys need doubt no more.

Makes you wonder how the BBC would be reporting on a German mark 2 Hitler right now. Even if the neo-nazis where blowing up trains in London, and cutting off British peoples heads.
Its the Americans fault the Germans invaded Poland
Its the Americans fault the Germans had to murder 6 million Jews
Its the Americans fault that socialists has to kill “innocent” people to get its message across.
Its the Americans fault that we are all going to die or do as we are told.
Its deffinately Americas fault that our communist socialist brothers have not been able to liberate the whole of Europe, from capitalist imperialism.
The record got stuck a while ago.

Living in the Philippines these past 7 years. Had BBC as my home page quite confident that they were what they had always claimed, fair reporters of news. Woken out of my stupor during the “debate” in the UN over Iraq and was startled to hear that the “war weary” Germans were opposed to going to war in Iraq. Told BBC that I hadn’t realised that starting a couple of World wars had been do debilitating but got no response. Then I started to look more closely at BBC output but still had them as my Home Page. Only recently discovered Biased BBC and happy to know that you articulate and erudite commentators have them in your sights.

I am spending my weekend delivering party leaflets. As right wing people are believers in democracy, it suprises me also, how unimportant elections are considered. However Tories have always been, the party of people too frightened to speak their own name.
Most Conservatives in Britain have been beaten into a moral and spiritual nervous breakdown by the MSM for 40 odd years. Opinion Polls have learnt to adjust their results to take this into consideration.
Also some on this site are not whole hearted believers in libertarian conservatism. Thats why they have respect for TB. They think he makes a good intelligent dictator. They only think they are Conservatives because the BBC keeps telling them they must be.

‘1984’ – a satire directed against Engsoc [english socialism] perfectly fits the situation in Britain today.
As I see it, a new Orwell is not required, when the original man still sums it all up perfectly.
Remember, Orewll worked at the BBC before penning his greatest work. No coincidences there.

Churches set ablaze, Bibles desecrated in Pakistan
What you will not see in the wake of this: demonstrations, violence, or the killing of anyone, by Christian groups. “Christians protest attack on churches,” from the Daily Times, with thanks to Twostellas:
MULTAN: Christians on Sunday protested against the desecration of the Holy Bible and arson attacks on their places of worship in various parts of the country, terming the incidents ‘religious terrorism’.
Special services were held for those who had died in various incidents of violence against minorities.
“It is religious terrorism to set our church (in Mian Channu) ablaze during the period when we (Christians) fast. It is an attack on our religion and belief. We feel unsafe and insecure,” said Chaudhry Naveed Amer Jeeva, MPA and the coordinator of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance, South Punjab.
He said that the present regime had failed to protect churches, missionary properties and religious leaders. He said that churches had been burnt down in Sargodha and Sukkur, more than 300 copies of holy Bible were set ablaze in Sangla Hill and the cross desecrated and Christians killed in terrorist activities.
It involves Ethnic Minorities, Religious Persecution, failure of the State to uphold the Universal Declaration on Human Rights Art 18, and comments from the Bishop of Rochester could make up for the silence from the Archbishop of Canterbury

Baathist papers confirm Hussein’s terrorist ties
By DEROY MURDOCK
Scripps Howard News Service

STANFORD, Calif. — With conservative congressional majorities at risk in next November’s elections, President Bush repeatedly should remind everyone that a key reason coalition troops invaded Iraq was to padlock Saddam Hussein’s Wal-Mart for terrorists. The administration finally is releasing intelligence documents captured in Baghdad. Bush should use them to detail how Hussein indeed was entwined with terrorists in general and al Qaeda in particular.

WASHINGTON, April 6 /PR Newswire/ — The following is a transcript of remarks by President Bush on the Global War on Terror:
Central Piedmont Community College
Charlotte, North Carolina 10:45 A.M. EDT
First of all, war came to our shores on September the 11th, 2001. It was a war we did not ask for, it’s a war we did not want, but it is a war that I intend to deal with so long as I’m your President.
The second lesson learned is that unlike previous wars, these folks — this kind of terrorist network that is ideologically bound needs safe haven. They need a place to hide. They need a symbiotic relationship with governments that will enable them to plot, plan and attack.

G Powell,
Makes you wonder how the BBC would be reporting on a German mark 2 Hitler right now. Even if the neo-nazis where blowing up trains in London, and cutting off British peoples heads.
There’s little doubt that the reporting would be sympathetic to the neonazis.
But the BBC does occasionally pay lip service, at least, to balance. Here’s Robin Marshall, on the same World Service’s Newshour on the arrested Hamas ‘cabinet minister’, talking to a spokesman who I’ll call ‘abu Suicide Bomber’:
Robin: What’s your reaction to what happened to the minister today?
abu Suicide Bomber: We condemn and renounce [sic] this act and we consider it as a state terror. Unfortunately Israel want to talk to all international community that Palestinians are terrorists while in fact Israeli actions is terror actions….[And so on, and on.]
Robin: ‘State terror’ is a rather strong description for the detention for 5 hours of one of your ministers. Why do you phrase it that way? [Fair question.]
abu Suicide Bomber: This is one from millions acts that Palestinians are suffering every day ….detainees in Israeli jails living in very very bad situations…[Not true, of course, they actually eat better than many Israelis, but he goes and on without interruption. Hardly a challenging interview.]
The BBC has no real interest in challenging Hamas, just in giving them a propaganda platform.

The islamofacists are effectively Nazis. The only difference is the belief in:
Ummah rather than Fatherland
Islam rather than Aryan
Dhimmi rather than ‘living space’
They still believe in all the other trappings of the Nazi state and a totalitarian regime.
The only real difference is their fasion sense and skin colour.
But of course, only white people can be Nazis in the eyes of the Beeb….

I dunno. It’s not easy to measure these things. Certainly the BBC provides ideological common ground and comfort to terrorists.
And the World Service, as far as I can see, has no real competitors of comparable reach and influence in the English language.
