The BBC and its hatred of the US.

    US ‘no longer technology king’

The US has lost its position as the world’s primary engine of technology innovation, according to a report by the World Economic Forum. The US is now ranked seventh in the body’s league table measuring the impact of technology on the development of nations. Singapore was among the nations ranked higher than the US.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6502725.stm

Isn’t it amazing how the BBC loves to promote no-hoper stories as hot off the press news. Err BBC can you tell me how many men Denmark has put on the moon? (and all the technological gains that came with it)
Can you tell me how many airliners Sweden has put into the air (and all the technological gains that came with it)
Can you tell me how many computer giants are sited in the city state of Singapore. (and all the technological gains that came with it)
Love them or hate them, the Yanks have placed more technologies into the lives of humanity than any other nation going this past 50 years. Now contrast that with the Islamic world whom the BBC just loves to bend over for. (Silly me they are supposed to have invented the Zero.)

The BBC how it spreads the word of Allah and half a story.

    Students raid Islamabad ‘brothel’
Dozens of young women from a religious school in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, have broken into an alleged brothel and kidnapped the owner. The women, from the nearby Jamia Hafsa madrassa, burst in late on Tuesday, demanding the premises be shut down. The women say they have a right to end immoral activity under Islamic law. The BBC’s Navdip Dhariwal in Islamabad says it is the first time such bold Taleban-style activity seen elsewhere in Pakistan has occurred in the city.
The Jamia Hafsa school has been at the centre of controversy in recent months.
In February, armed students prevented the authorities from demolishing an illegally constructed mosque and occupied a nearby children’s library. They have also demanded that local video owners close their stores.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/6502305.stm

So the young female students from this school prevented the authorities from demolishing an illegally constructed mosque and occupied a nearby children’s library did they BBC?. Here is the rest of the story which the BBC kind of left out. (Can’t have Muslims looking bad can we BBC)
Enforce Sharia or we won’t leave library: girl students

ISLAMABAD: The girl students of Jamia Hafsa have refused to vacate a children’s public library until the government enforces Sharia law in Pakistan.
“We want Sharia or we are ready to embrace martyrdom,” representatives of the ‘Students Action Committee’ told reporters here on Thursday. They said they would not vacate the library until Sharia was enforced in the country and action against mosques did not stop. They said they wanted an assurance in this regard from the president. The girl students occupied the library after the government demolished a part of their Lal Masjid seminary, which was constructed illegally on state land. The Council of Islamic Ideology had ruled that such mosques and seminaries built on encroached land were un-Islamic and should be demolished. Around 4,000 female students of the seminary have been standing guard at the library with batons in their hands for over two weeks. Earlier, the administration of Lal Masjid had said that the library would be vacated if the government stopped its campaign to demolish mosques built on encroached land. But the students’ representatives – Hamna Abdullah, Khola Abdur Rehman, Ume Aimen and Amna – said that they were ready to carry out suicide attacks if the authorities took any action against their madressa. “We are ready to give our lives for our religion. If any commando action is taken, it will be retaliated. We are ready for Fedai (suicidal) attacks,” they said.

Asked whom they would carry out such attacks against, the students said: “Those who are against Islam.” They said Islam permitted suicide attacks. “We are oppressed and an oppressed community has the right to register its protest,” they added. The students said that the government had demolished seven mosques in the capital, and as per Sharia, seven public buildings should have been demolished, but “we did not adopt a extreme step”. MMA President Qazi Hussain met the deputy administrator of Lal Masjid and assured the students of his full support. staff report

Al Beeb is trying to give the impression that it is sensitive to the feelings of the 15 UK captives and their families.

Kevin Bakhurst, controller of BBC News 24, says (28 Mar) at ‘The Editors’, under the heading: ‘Captive Images’:” The pictures shown by Iranian television of the British sailors and marines have obviously raised a number of issues for us.”

    Really?
Like what? About how to respect the sensitivities of the British prisoners of the Islamic Republic of Iran? That’s what you write about, Mr. Bakhurst.

But, in practice, within minutes of you writing your touchy, feely, oh- so- caring ‘Captives Images’, what do we get on BBC News 24 tv, but a Professor of Political Science from TEHRAN University, given 5 minutes of propaganda to spout the anti-British position, and just to complete the picture, the Iranian images of the UK prisoners accompanied the Iranian propaganda words. Al Jazeera cannot compete with you.

Don’t apologise to me, Al Beeb. I expect this from you. But you might consider apologising to the ’15’. Or do you only lead apologies against aspects of British history?

    Yesterday I mentioned that in this current climate of never-ending coverage of the abolition of Slavery in the British Empire. (Not that you get that picture from the BBCs reporting) That the BBC while bitching about the ills of 200 years ago can’t be asked to report on the ills of today in Sudan which happens to be also situated in Africa. Well what do you know the BBC has put out a report on Darfur today as of this afternoon.;
Sudan pledges to ease aid access
The Sudanese government has pledged to ease restrictions on aid workers in its western war-torn region of Darfur.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6504001.stm
    Did anybody else find it strange that the news coverage from a despotic country which has committed genocide (More evidence of this here than in Iraq) from the BBC is some what lame and spineless in pointing the finger at the guilty party. (contrast that with the BEEBS reporting from Iraq and Afghanistan where civilian causalities by NATO is always annotated in bold) and just to make sure the reader isn’t pushed in the direction of the truth the BBC end with this little disclaimer about its ideological masters;
“At the signing ceremony, Mr Karti complained that false accusations were still being made and that the government would not accept anyone who they considered was acting illegally.”
So there you have it a folk according to the BBC all the bad news coming out of Darfur is simply lies.

Of course the headline “US ‘no longer technology king'” isn’t really accurate as it only applies to the level of IT penetration. As far as I am aware the US still leads the world in the number of patents applied for each year.

The UN has warned that there could be another cesspool collapse in the Gaza Strip, a day after at least five people were killed by a flood of raw sewage.

On Wednesday, the head of the UN relief and works agency in Gaza said a larger cesspool in the area was overloaded and could collapse at any time.

In a separate development, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car of a local Hamas commander in Gaza City, witnesses and medics said.

They said the commander’s wife and their two children were injured. It remains unclear if the commander himself was hurt.

“The real threat now comes from another [sewage] facility up there which is equally overloaded,” John Ging, the head of the UN relief and works agency in Gaza, told the Associated Press news agency.

“Except that this time it’s 1.5 million cubic metres of waste water and sewage that could spill out into the area and cause an even bigger disaster,” he said.

Mr Ging added that the UN had long warned that Tuesday’s disaster would happen.

“This has been a tragedy that was predicted and documented. The United Nations published a report in 2004, predicting that unless action were taken, that exactly what happened yesterday would happen.”

The report said that flooding was inevitable unless a new waste treatment plant was constructed.

On Wednesday, Israel sent two large floating pumps to help Palestinian emergency workers lower the level of sewage in the flooded area, an Israeli army spokesman said.

The UN says their job has been made more difficult by unexploded Israeli ordnance, which was fired into the area last year and could have now been spread by the floodwaters.

(Note to IDF: In future please ensure that all ordnance explodes.)

“Absolutely. I believe that sincerely,” Butt tells Simon. “That was an unspoken deal. And as a result of that, what tended to happen is the British government lost count of how many people were going abroad getting trained and coming back and going into operational mode as sleeper cells.”

    noticed that as well.

the very act of filming prisoners for propaganda purposes is against the Geneva convention. (prisoners should not be exposed to “public curiosity”)

forcing the female marine to wear a head scarf is another breach. (prisoners faith should be respected. female soldiers must be treated the same as male soldiers. )

forcing her to make a statement is also anothe breach.

“Article 17. Every prisoner of war, when questioned on the subject, is bound to give only his surname, first names and rank, date of birth, and army, regimental, personal or serial number, or failing this, equivalent information.”

Ratna Roka and his twin brother, Ram, wore the green beret of the Gurkha Brigade with pride. And like so many of their fellow Nepalese soldiers, they thought by laying their lives on the line for Britain, they would be treated like British soldiers in retirement. But now, at 56, they live without a pension in the slums of Pokhara, Nepal, and spend their days crouching by the roadside, begging British tourists for money. This uncomfortable image is presented as evidence by campaigning members of the Gurkha Army Ex-Servicemen’s Organisation at a large rally in London.
They are calling for equal rights with British soldiers.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6503749.stm

I have no problem with the Gurkhas getting the same British army pension rights as I.
And lets be honest, why have we treated loyal servants to Queen and country like shite when this government gives sanctuary (and benefits) to every Abu, Mohammed and Jihad who wishes death and destruction to those who live in this country.
But there is something the Muslim loving BBC kind of leaves out of the above article. A little something called the Britain-India-Nepal Tripartite Agreement signed in 1947.
“In 1947, India was granted independence from the United Kingdom, and it was decided between the two governments to split the Gurkha regiments between the British and Indian armies — six Gurkha units became part of the new Indian Army, while four were transferred to the British Army: As a part of this arrangement, it was agreed that Gurkhas in British and Indian service should enjoy broadly the same conditions of service, to ensure that there was no unfair advantage to serving in one or other, thus maintaining economic stability and social harmony in the Gurkha recruiting areas. Thus, the governments of the United Kingdom, India and Nepal came to sign the Tripartite Agreement (TPA).
The main points of the agreement are:
The Gurkha soldier must be recruited as a Nepali citizen, must serve as a Nepali citizen, and must be resettled as a Nepali citizen.
All religious and cultural observances must be preserved in accordance with the demands of the Hindu faith.
Gurkha soldiers in both the Indian and British Armies should receive the same basic rates of pay, although allowances may be paid to reflect differences in the costs of living between countries where Gurkha soldiers might serve outside Nepal.
Subject to satisfactory performance and conduct, all soldiers should be allowed to serve for sufficient time in order to qualify for a pension
All Gurkha soldiers should be allowed an extended period of leave in Nepal every three years.
Gurkha soldiers recruited into the respective armies are liable for service worldwide.
Gurkhas are fully integrated into the Army to which they are recruited and under no circumstances are they to be considered mercenaries.
The agreement applies to the 3,500 Gurkhas serving in the British Army, and close to 100,000 Gurkhas in the Indian Army.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain-India-Nepal_Tripartite_Agreement

Without meaning to be a killjoy. The fact that Ghurkhas get lower bands of pay than the rest of the British Army was simply because they had to be paid the same as the Ghurkhas working for the Indian army. Yes I agree something should be done about it. But the BBC in removing any reference to the agreement in its article is guilty of stating a falsehood by omission of the facts why.
If the British Army is guilty of anything here it is guilty of sticking to an agreement it signed with 2 other countries in 1947. Now I know the Merchant bankers at the BBC don’t understand the concept of honour, integrity and keeping its word. But rest assured Muslim (BBC) clones unlike your masters in Tehran the British Military is one of the few British organisations which still abides by those values.

Too right. That YouTube video says it all really. And here’s a post from HP from someone who was there, to get a sense of how low they’ve sunk:

I was sitting there with a different delegation when he made that speech, and I can tell you that the atmosphere in the room dropped about 10 degrees over the course of his speech.

The sad thing is that he’s right. Earlier that day you had the Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories declare that, because Israel is a ‘Western-affiliated’ state, the West cannot expect the Developing world to do ANYTHING about Darfur, Zimbabwe et al until it takes care of the Israel/Palestine situation.

In other words, the human rights of everyone in the developing world are being held hostage to the affairs of a few million people between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.

If I was a betting man, I would put my money that you will see a “spike” of “moonbat” postings on all UK media-see if you can spot patterns in argument, locations etc.

However I think sharper minds in the BBC are now having there minds focused by the events of the last two weeks.

Urban has literally has just deconstructed Iran’s propaganda piece and more interestingly Chief Herbivore Ming the Merciless is very robustly backing up TB’s line (and de-coupling of the whole Iraq argument more importantly). I’ve seen Fox on CNN and one or two other “media types” putting the case for the UK line.

The “e” word and then the “m” word will soon be entering our daily lexicon if the IRGC won’t back down.

I detect a far deeper shift in editorial thinking on this, and I know the “nuclear issue” is the line being spun but there are other factors at work…….

And judging by today’s happenings next door the tempo is accelerating:

Pound heads back to dark days of 1990

“Economists have raised the alarm over the future health of the pound, after new figures showed the current account has yawned to the biggest deficit since 1990.

They warned that sterling faced a significant fall in the coming years as investors realised that the UK is living well beyond its means.

The deficit on the balance of payments rose to a record high of £12.7bn in the final quarter of 2006, the Office for National Statistics said. As a percentage of Britain’s gross domestic product, this is 3.8pc, the highest level seen since 1990.

Experts said that the increase in the shortfall was the latest sign of the North Sea’s demise as an energy producer and warned that as Britain’s oil and gas exports fell in the coming years, the current account would widen to worrying levels.

The increase in the gap was far bigger than economists expected, and they warned that this could have severe consequences for the long-term health of the UK economy. A country with a large current account deficit will often see its currency depreciate in the following years, they said.

Easy: set up a Today programme interview with
    1. A mouthpiece of the Iranian regime masquerading as an academic, and
    2. A member of the Camel Corps who has many friends in the Persian nation

Listen for yourself at 8.10 as the whole thing is comfortingly described as a “technical problem” by the interviewees:

Please be advised the BBC is soon to start its “Falklands Season” I have just heard a trailer on R4 for a program to be presented by Peter Snow
in which instead of demonstrating what a remarkable victory it was,the series will,a:show how slow the Americans were to help,b:show the srategic errors British forces made,c:inform us of the impact of the war on Argentina,in particular the suicide of 300 veterans since the war’s end.

and it seems that Iranan TV is getting better briefings than us, or is there something they are not telling us:

I think it is very difficult commenting on ‘bias” today because there is a massive amount of disinformation and doublethink.

But I do have some “clarification” on the AJ situation:

“Palestinian Authority security sources told The Jerusalem Post they were looking into reports that the BBC journalist’s kidnappers were aided by local Palestinian reporters.
According to the sources, Palestinian journalists working with the international media in the Gaza Strip were linked to previous abductions of foreign journalists.
“We have evidence that some local reporters helped the kidnappers of the foreign reporters,” the sources said. “These journalists don’t want the foreigners to come to the Gaza Strip because they are taking their jobs.”

“A top Hamas official in Gaza City told the Post that the reports about the involvement of some Palestinian journalists in the spree of kidnappings were “not unfounded.” He claimed that the abductions were designed to scare foreign journalists so they would stop coming to the Gaza Strip, forcing their employers to replace them with locals.”

So much for all those carefully posed demos by AJs ‘fellow journos’ – and how much did the BBC fork out for all those posters and t-shirts they handed out for their stage managed protest?

It’s never too late to expose the BBC’s gross pro-Iranian bias. It would come from Frank “I am a Muslim” Gardner.

So according to the BBC, it’s a propaganda war. I can see propaganda from the Iranians – false coordinates, confessions on camers under threat, female sailor made to wear a headscarf. But what DO the BBC mean by British propaganda?

They don’t even know they are doing it.

good point made by a caller on jeremy vine about placing women on the front line. (i.e. its a stupid thing to do tactically)

that poor female marine is now a pawn in a vicious iranian game – parading her with a veil on… note how none of the men were paraded.
