    Woman wins ginger jibes tribunal

A waitress sexually taunted at work over her red hair has been awarded £17,618 compensation by an employment tribunal. Sarah Primmer, 41, of Renown Street, Plymouth, suffered a series of lewd and embarrassing comments until she was sacked from the city’s Rendezvous Cafe. She claimed unfair dismissal and sexual harassment at the establishment. The award was made against Mayflower Kebabs Ltd, Kemal Koyunco, Malik Aldogan and Laxtone Ltd. The Exeter tribunal chairman, Christa Christensen, said the “regular sexual harassment and innuendo” suffered by Ms Primmer had affected her self-esteem.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/6238332.stm

    And here is what the BBC doesn’t report for the great unwashed;
Tribunal chairman Christa Christensen said in judgment that there was “regular sexual harassment and innuendo by Zia”.He asked Ms Primmer questions about the colour of her pubic hair, the size of her chest, the size of her boyfriend’s penis and which sexual positions she preferred. The chairman said an aggravating factor was the fact that Zia apparently translated his comments into Turkish for the benefit of other members of staff.

All this stuff about Glastonbury means that I feel compelled to pass on an observation I made at the weekend.

I attended the rival festival, Hyde Park Calling. For the uninitiated this was a different collection of popular beat combos entertaining those who prefer listening to guitar-based rock music while standing in a rain-sodden field.

It gave this here yokel a chance to visit the capital for the first time in years and see how Ken Livingstone’s city is getting on.

Well, the thing that most caught my eye was that each act performing had one of several signers – that is signers for deaf people – on stage with them.

Ponder that for a moment. Someone, somewhere felt it necessary to cater for those people who were hard of hearing. At a rock festival!

Now I am all in favour of inclusion where ever possible, but how many deaf people would say “I’m profoundly deaf, but despite that handicap I think I’ll shell out £45 and stand in a field while musicians play music that I am unable to listen to”?

It could be that the organisers wanted to cater for minorities within minorities; deaf people who were also very stupid perhaps?

Apart from Neil Finn (of Crowded House) none of the artists seemed to think that this was at all remarkable.

Anyhow, I think resource allocation should have been different – instead of a team of signers a few additional bag searchers and trash collectors would have been better.

Question for Londoners: is this sort of thing typical of the stuff going down in your city?

What? Consideration for the less fortunate? How appalling…

Oh wait, here’s an article about how deaf people can appreciate music through vibration without hearing it like the rest of us…

Scientists believe they have discovered why deaf people can enjoy listening to music and why some can perform or, like Beethoven, even compose.
Dr Dean Shibata, assistant professor of radiology at the University of Washington, has found that deaf people sense musical vibrations in the part of the brain other people use for hearing.

So people who can enjoy music in a different way get a little help understanding what the singer’s saying…

The “deaf-signers” at the Hyde Park concert were not giving their time and expertise for nothing. They were paid for out of general taxation.

The fact that this kind of public expenditure is completely useless and parasitic may eventually lead people to question whether they wish go on paying for it, and if not, to vote accordingly.

The same applies to the BBC television licence fee.

My point is we should not care about what happens to a jewish soldier … he’s probably killed many innocent people in the name of Israel, he’s not innocent in any way. The only innocents are the civilians. Frankly, I dont think anyone does care about him, its just the media which has become a passive conduit for propaganda by pro-isreali and zionist lobbies.

If Israel actually wanted peace, there would’ve been peace a long time ago but, what Israel wants is all of Palestine and all of Lebanon. They can only have this via two methods: Genocide and constant war.

How the hell does citing a few articles interspersed over the past year prove me wrong about the BBC’s willful failure to report adequately on the Jihad being waged in southern Thailand? Last week, some thirteen schools were burned to the ground by Islamists in southern Thailand. Many people were also murdered in drive-by shootings and roadside bombs injured others. The BBC has not adequately reported any of this. Buddhist school teachers, rubber-tappers and labourers are murdered, beheaded, doused in kerosine and burnt on a daily basis in southern Thailand. And the BBC is deliberately ignoring it, or is at the very least under-reporting it. That is a fact. And they have their reasons for doing this. And I think we all know what they are. It would also have been nice if the BBC had given more coverage (or any at all, because I can’t recall seeing any) about the case of Lina Joy in neighbouring Malaysia who recently lost her case to legally convert from Islam to Christianity. Federal Court Chief Justice Ahmad Fairuz Sheikh Abdul Halim’s ruling in Kuala Lumpur (capital of “moderate” Malaysia) that “You can’t at whim and fancy convert from one religion to another” would have enlightened many viewers in the UK about the true nature of that much vaunted Islamic virtue: tolerance. The reaction of the assembled large crowd outside the courtroom who cheered and shouted “God is great” would have enlightened them even more.

I recall it was discussed here that in the months after the kidnapping the BBC did a funny little dance, mostly reporting that he’d been captured in Gaza but occasionally grudgingly conceding that he’d been captured in a cross-border raid from Gaza.

Did you not notice that he singularly failed to answer my question?

    I assumed your question was:
So how does this show the BBC’s hatred of Jews exactly?

    I gave three indicators:
    1) Offensive use of the noun form ‘Jew’ as adjective. Google “Jew AND adjective” for pages of references.
    2) Offensive and incorrect use of ‘infidel’ as a synonym for non-Jews/Gentiles. Apart from the adaptation of Muslim rather than Jewish terminology the word intrinsically relates to the second-class status of non-Muslims.
    3) The snub implicit in But I don’t have time for religious revelations Revelation is generally not a Jewish trope but why pick on the Jews at all when there were so many other religious targets?

The Jewish tent was apparently organized by Jewdass.org who don’t provide an email for contact. So it’s possible the journalist was simply quoting a weak attempt at satire. If you can provide photographic evidence or another report using the same words I will happily back-down.

I took the report to be a gratuitous throw away line by BBC reporter secure in the belief that the BBC (and the sub editors) will overlook ‘mild’ antisemitism. Had it raised any red flags in editing the offending paragraph could easily have been rewritten. A banner on the Jewish tent said “‘Jew Tent’ Jews and Infidels welcome” but I didn’t have time to explore this further. 🙁

The impending smoking ban in England could spell the end for cafes which practise the ancient habit of shisha. “I know this is going to sound like a strange description,” said Kate as she inhaled deeply on her shisha pipe. “But it’s almost the equivalent of being on your own and getting into a lovely fragrant bubble bath.” She’s a devotee of shisha, the Arabic water-pipe in which fruit-scented tobacco is burnt using coal, passed through an ornate water vessel and inhaled through a hose. Shisha smoking venues first started appearing in England along the Edgware Road in the 70s, largely fuelled by the Gulf Arab expat community.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/6238382.stm

But BBC no matter how much your make the ancient practice of Shisha sounds like euphoria at the end of the day it is still smoking.

    However the BBC informs the reader that shisha is actually a team building event;
“Shisha cafes, in which pipes can be shared between friends, are seen as an alternative to the pub for a social night out. “For myself, I know I’ll lose a place that I can go out with my Asian friends who I can’t go out to the pub with,” Kate said of the impending ban.

    If that doesn’t get you, they inform you the ban is destroying s certain culture;
“”If you look at the impact of taking the shisha out of this culture, you’re talking about disrupting and destroying the whole pattern of community activity.”

BBC ‘sorry’ for Iggy racist word

The BBC has apologised after rock star Iggy Pop used a racist term during the coverage of the Glastonbury Festival. During a studio interview after his performance, the veteran musician made the remark while talking about visiting shops in north London. Hosts Jo Whiley and Mark Radcliffe made no on-air apology on Saturday night, prompting three viewer complaints. A spokesman for the corporation said: “We would like to apologise if anyone was offended.”
    …………
In the interview, the singer launched into a long anecdote about going to Camden, and visiting “Paki shops”. The presenters on the BBC Two programme made no reference to the word after it had been said.

Yup BBC nothing like 4 beheadings and a funeral in which to make you quake in your boots with worry in case the victims of the world come looking for you.

    BBC’s directors to waive bonuses

BBC executives have waived their annual bonuses for 2006/2007 after failing to meet their full diversity targets. According to the corporation, the BBC Direction Group had “collectively decided” not to take bonuses valued at about £350,000.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6240208.stm

Silly me, there I was thinking that a bonus was something extra, not of the normal pay plan. So please spare me this BBC sanctimonious cods wallop about how magnanimous the BBC executives are for given up something that isn’t a given.
What would be noble of the mandarins at the BBC is if they took a pay cut. )can’t have that can we. If they actually gave the British public a non political program which they would actually watch. (Think Father Ted, Doc Martin, Teachers etc..)
Sack Abu Bowen, Plett and their acolytes and bring in newer fresher blood untainted by shisha smoking.

So there was the ITN News last night, dramatic shots of people being rescued by helicopter from a flood in a major English city, Sheffield. By way of contrast, the BBC had live action all right – a chap stood beside a nice looking bridge in a place called Tenbury Wells which must be in the Midlands somewhere.
Does anybody know where Tenbury Wells is? And why it’s so important? Senior Beeboids live there? Or have a country cottage perhaps? Or is it just the Beeb spending money getting reporters to places where the story isn’t?
I wouldn’t mind were it not that I have to pay for this rubbish.

    pounce – from your post:

“The BBC had pledged to employ 12.5% of black and minority staff by 31 December 2007.”

12.5%? How exactly did the BBC come up with that figure?

    ‘Honour’ violence ‘terror-linked’
There are links between some cases of “honour” violence in Britain and extremist groups abroad, a BBC investigation has been told.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6239804.stm

What a crock of shite from the BBC. By implying that maybe, just maybe the warped idiots who commit crimes of honour are a small minority who have a habit of blowing up London underground therefore absolving the male oriented culture of Islam which oppresses women in the name of religious freedoms.
Religious freedoms which if looked at in the clear light of day amount to clear breaches of human rights for all except male muslims.
Yet the BBC promotes this image that only a small minority subscribe to the notion of Honour crimes and that small minority are also the ones who want to blow up the world. Yeah right maybe that explains how Muslim women in the west are forced to wear religious garbs which exist only in the Middle East. Yet Muslim men for some strange reason can wear what they want. But according to their coda they are more pious than women. Yet when was the last time you saw a Muslim man beaten for wearing western clothes?
Another white-wash from the BBC in which to excuse a far-right oppressive movement from the mores of it nature which have no right to be sanctioned in any country (never mind the west) as a religious right. Terrorist indeed. What next from the BBC that the smoking is good for you?
