And certainly not a word concerning the fact that Gore’s film lies about ‘evidence’ in several respects – most particularly about sea levels.

In case anyone missed it when I posted the quote from a leading Leftist ‘think tank’ the other day, here it is again. It perfectly explains what Gore, the BBC and other warmists are up to:

“… at least for popular communications, interested agencies now need to treat the argument as having been won. This means simply behaving as if climate change exists and is real, and that individual actions are effective… The ‘facts’ need to be treated as being so taken-for-granted that they need not be spoken.”

Let’s face it, Naughtie is no Torquemada but his fawning obsequiousness to Gore on “Today” reached so far unplumbed depths of partiality. As previous commenters have noted there was not one challenge to Gore’s allegations for instance that opposition to his line is down to money, that there is a “growing” consensus for the MMGW assertions, that increases in CO2 are a cause rather than a consequence of global warming. Mind you there was an embarrassed silence after Gore fulsomely thanked Naughtie for hosting or organising a MMGW-fest (apparently) last night.

The MontaQuinn during her interview with the bods from the Royal Society and Ipsos MORI referred to those people who don’t swallow whole the MMGW theology as being under a “misapprehension”.

That’s how they do it. Just deny the possibility of serious factual doubt about MMGW. It won’t at this rate be too long before MM climate change scepticism will be taken by the BBC as evidence of mental illness. Reminds one of what happened in the USSR when people doubted the ultimate triumph of communism

The recent events in London and Glasgow have overshadowed most other things, not least the furore in Japan over their Defence Minister’s remarks about the ending of WWII.
I’ve long suspected that there is a cadre within the BBC dedicated to rewriting history to reflect their PC view and I wouldn’t be surprised to see, in 10 years time, the BBC punting the idea that it was the rapacious American industrial might that forced poor Japan into a corner where they had no other option than to fight to secure the raw materials that they needed. It’s certainly a view espoused by a number of far-left circus side show freaks.
Anyway here is the BBC’s accumulated offering on the latest debacle. It’s fairly neutral for a change, except that there is no voice to act as a counterbalance in representing the untold millions who suffered at the hands of Japanese militarism.
I particularly like the way the BBC have latched onto one of the phrases used:
’The US, he added, must have thought the bombs could prompt Japan’s surrender……….’
Oh really? So Japan didn’t surrender then.
The bit that caught my eye was the creative accounting used in the casualty figures and how, in the space of two days the number of deaths went up by 50%.
The BBC appear to have a penchant for this sort of loose reporting on casualty figures.

That’s right hillhunt. How many terrorists have those groups you listed thrown up lately?

    Exactly.

So, leaving aside whether they think they can “demonstrate legitimate right of entry”, what’s your very best reason for allowing Muslims into Britain, given that they’re the only group among whom murderous terrorists are to be found? What’s in it for Britain to let them in? What’s the total killer argument that slam-dunks the question and in your view leaves a reasonable person in no doubt that we should continue to let hundreds of thousands of them in?

Tip: I recommend you don’t cite the wonderful work they do in the NHS.

  19. Jonathan Boyd Hunt says:

BBC Trust member Richard Tait, who chaired the steering group which oversaw the recent BBC report on impartiality, “See-Saw to Wagon Wheel,” is clearly positioning himself as the undisputed master of po-faced posturing (or comic irony, perhaps).

To launch the “SSTWW” report, he said this on the BBC’s website:

“We know that audiences demand and value impartiality as essential to the BBC’s independence. They particularly value impartiality in news, and they recognise its importance in other programme areas. …
“The BBC agrees and one of our new principles makes clear that impartiality is no excuse for insipid programme-making. Providing space for controversial and passionate writers and contributors of all kinds will ensure impartiality is an antidote to political correctness.
“This project, the research and the report shows that to safeguard impartiality in the 21st century, the BBC must strive to provide the full breadth of views in all their complexities so that a complete picture is offered to audiences to make up their own minds. Achieving this requires commitment and a sophisticated approach to match the public’s differing expectations for each genre. For programme-makers and journalists, this is a creative opportunity because it means bringing extra perspectives to bear, not limiting horizons or censoring opinion.

Just one problem with that: the BBC has steadfastly refused to even evaluate the merits of evidence unearthed by an acclaimed independent investigation which found that the official parliamentary inquiry into the controversy that “helped bring down the last Conservative government” was perverted by the submission of false documents and perjurious testimony and statements.

So far so good. Or rather not so good. Richard “master-of-the-straight-face” Tait then went on to opine in a hilarious piece for The Observer of 17 June, which I’ve just stumbled across:

Others argue [impartiality] may be virtuous, but it’s boring – turning people off news and documentaries by too much balance. … a final group of critics believe that impartiality is unachievable, arguing in particular about the BBC that it is in the hands of either a conservative establishment or the soft left and that its editorial centre of gravity is hopelessly skewed one way or another.

Oh yeah? Well, here’s the evidence of the argument that the BBC is in the hands of the Left. So does any Beeboid out there know where one can look to find evidence of the argument that the BBC is alternatively in the hands of “the conservative establishment?”

In bold type, at the top of its piece, Al Beeb states that some British Muslims fear they may be branded as terrorists, even though none of the people currently arrested is British.

    Can I make a suggestion?

Many if not most posts here either identify or discuss specific examples of BBC leftist bias.

Could we make it a blog rule that, in the interests of balance, all our liberals and BBC shills should also provide one example of BBC rightist bias with each of their posts?

It is, after all, the heart of their argument that al-BBC is not biased. If this is true, it will be easy for them to come up with examples of BBC bias facing the other way.

I for one would then be more likely to believe their defences of their leftist bias. In practice, the defence mostly amounts to an assertion that the leftist position is actually the correct one and therefore not biased.

You’d expect a leftist to think this, but it should not mean that rightist views cannot be found.

So come on, hillhunt et al. Let’s have it – let’s see examples of al-BBC advancing a rightist agenda. There must be lots.

Evidence that al-BBC has ever shown the footage at my homepage of Gordon Broon mining his nose for snot and then eating it would be a good start.
