The BBC Agenda, according to Neal Boortz

, a “U.S. Libertarian talk radio host and commentator“:

If you were listening yesterday you know that a crew from the BBC was in the studio for about 90 minutes taping the show. This preceded a 60 minute interview they had requested after the program was over.

So … after the show they changed their lighting, brought in their reporter, set the stage, and the taped interview got under way. It took no time at all for them to make it clear what their agenda was in this interview, and why they chose my particular show.

Barackobamamania.

The interview was 90% Barack Obama … and the thrust of the interview was that America was a racist nation and that there were huge numbers of people in this country, especially from the evil South, who simply would not vote for Barack solely because of the color of his skin.

More on the show today. (That’s called a tease).

More to follow when we have it. Please keep an eye out for this appearing on the BBC.

Wow. An hour long interview? Jeez, that’s a lot of tape.

A lot of scope for creative or selective editing perhaps… plus an hour and a half of the Boortz show to select, sorry, choose from too!

You’d better send whoever’s on the story an email David!

Boortz was on Fox News this afternoon, but got lumped in with a panel shouting about the stock market, so no chance to mention his BBC experience. I’ll probably have to record his radio show tomorrow morning and check it later to see if he talks about it then. Maybe he’ll at least mention the programme they were supposed to be from.

You know me, Andrew… if I can find out more with an email or a post to the in-house bulletin board it’s the least I can do!
Will probably end up chasing Foot-and-mouth in Solihull today though.
Still, filming a radio show for an hour and a half and then an hour long interview? That really is much longer than I’d expect. Sounds like a waste of everyone’s time, I’ll be interested to learn more.

I just spoke with the producer of the Neal Boortz radio show. I asked if they got the name of the programme it was for, as well as if they caught any presenter names or anything.

She told me that they didn’t tell them what programme this was for, and that it was just producers and tech crew. No presenters or anything. Of course the senior producer on site would be conducting the interview, but does this mean we can expect noddies if any of this gets on air? But I would have expected them to say something about what this was all for. I know a BBC crew wouldn’t go all the way to Atlanta, GA, and spend all that time with someone, just to get some filler footage, or interstitials or whatever for some nameless show. Perhaps there was a communication gap between two sets of impenetrable regional accents.

This is a nationally syndicated radio show, and Boortz himself is well acquainted with the ins and outs of television and radio production. So I am a bit puzzled why they had no idea who or what had spent so much time with them. The producer couldn’t recall names of any of the production crew who were there, and since the host had moved on to another topic, there was no chance to put me through to speak with Boortz directly.

Apparently they talked about it a bit on yesterday’s broadcast, which I missed. But it was just about the Obamamania and “the US is a racist country” angle, with no mention of which BBC programme the crew were from. At least, that’s what I was told.

Boortz’s producer said they would give the listeners/readers a heads-up when the BBC informed them when and where any of this would be broadcast. I don’t listen to his radio show, but I do have a look at the website pretty regularly, so I’ll keep an eye out.
