Agreed – Nick Griffiths must be the only political leader to actively hope for a dirty bomb attack on a British city – I don’t see lynch mobs , but what I would see is the white working class , the vast majority voted for the “can’t be a**ed” party in the last election would be motivated to vote – for the one party that would “solve” the problem – the BNP

What would I do to change the BBC?
Exactly what I am doing…
Don’t pay the licence fee, don’t watch their channels and never click on their web site.
If everyone with a gripe against the BBC did the same thing, the bastards would be vanquished wouldn’t they?

Except being a tax-funded body with no need to cultivate viewing figures it would just carry on regardless. The BBC is not reliant on the license fee.

I often argue with myself about whether or not it’s worth fighting this ‘keyboard fight.’
The complaints mechanism is useless. We still phone, but of course there’s no way of knowing if what you say makes any difference, or even if anyone gets the message.
Today’s Bowen ‘From our own Correspondent’ was as bad as ever. The maudlin rambling about a Palestinian farmer with donkey from the good old bygone days, the nasty Israelis who’ve spoilt everything with their concrete, the list of all the Palestinians’ grievances, no mention whatsoever of rocket firing on Israel – nothing has changed at the Beeb.
They label Melanie Phillips or any other eloquent and knowledgeable Israel defenders ‘right wing’ and by categorising them ‘beyond the pale,’ they feel justified in dismissing whatever they say without a second thought.
I picture JR taking shelter somewhere, having cherry picked from these posts, trawled the web for any trump-card riposte, then, having run out of ammo, he takes cover and reloads, eventually bouncing back undeterred when he spots another target. Like one of those weighted dolls that you can kick but they won’t lie down.
He seemed to somehow represent a glimmer of hope, but unfortunately I now feel he is impervious, teflon, and it is pointless hoping for any change in the BBC’s bias any time soon.

Peoples Front,
Neither do I,nor do I own a television.But you see,the BBC doesn’t give a shit,it hasn’t even noticed our absence,even DG hasn’t missed us.(I can’t wait for DG to become Director General)
The big money keeps rolling in and the repeats keep rolling out.
You forget the pressures most people have. The idiot box is a permanent fixture of modern life, moreover most don’t mind paying the BBC Tax.Most don’t even notice the bias, worse they are not the slightest interested in the subject, any subject. Most have no yardstick by which to measure the accuracy of Beebish pronouncements.
The BBC knows this.It knows also that as long as it,like the medieval magnates, steers a path between two ruling factions,it is safe.
No,you need a better plan than that.
You are just going to have to call yourself Jeremy, vote Labour and find a BBC job in the Guardian. How are you on Israel and AGW?

“a dirty bomb attack on a British city”
And of course the Islamists will be more then aware of this, and they know it is now a tactical mistake to continue bombing. Just one more major attack is all it will take to decisively destroy any illusions people have in “moderate Islam”. And it is in the jihadis interests to preserve these illusions until the the Eurabia mediterranean merger project is complete. (Which, incidentally, David Milliband has admitted to)
A mass deportation would be .nothing. compared to the Islamification of Europe. But so long as there is not another bombing: Generation End Game is now.
Incidently people keep wondering why the left are allying themselves with Islam as though it is a flagrant deviation from leftism.. It isn’t, leftists have always been like that; the Ukraine Famine and its uncomprehending apologists such as George Bernard Shaw are a case in point. Also, consider the demands for the extra-judicial execution of David Irving and Nick Griffin at the recent Oxford Union debate.
If I say “Brown Shirts of Multiculturalism” I’m not joking. I mean it. One of the co-founders of Expo A Swedish Multi-culti Brown Shirt gang, Tobias Hübinette, wrote in 1996 (Creol no 1 1996 and “Svartvitt”): “To feel and even think that the white race is inferior in every conceivable way is natural with regards to its history and current actions. Let the Western countries of the white race perish in blood and suffering. Long live the multicultural, racially mixed and classless ecological society! Long live anarchy!”
This is what they believe. The left has always been like this to one degree or another. People are always railing double standards in PC speech codes but they never ask why they have double standards. This is because they want to destroy you.
Frankly, aggressive immigration control and a renewed McCarthyism are so mild and civilised considering the nature of the threat we face; this leftist political movement against mankind.

How the BBC reports on the execution of a women in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia beheads foreign maid
An Indonesian housemaid has been executed in Saudi Arabia after being convicted of killing her employer, the Saudi interior ministry has said. The woman was beheaded in the southern Asir province, in what was the second execution in the country in 2008. The maid was earlier found guilty of suffocating her female boss and stealing her jewellery. Rape, murder and other serious crimes can carry the death penalty in the conservative desert kingdom. Beheadings usually take place in public. Last year, Saudi Arabia – which follows a strict interpretation of Sharia, or Islamic law – executed more than 130 people, compared to fewer than 40 in 2006.

Short simple and the straight to the point. As a news report should be. Then contrast the above with any execution in the US.
Human rights lawyers, Amnesty, Chakrabarti ,Mosam Begg and the usual “He’s/she isn’t a well person” are all brought out in which to condemn the union that is the United States. But point a finger at Saudi Arabia for actual barbarity?. Well that’s another story……

I’m going to repeat my question.
Isn’t B-BBC instead of reducing the BBC bias, just helping the BBC better fight the accusations of bias?
After several months, I’m wondering about this myself.

But each day we see more and more people coming by here – I’m sure Andrew et al have seen the visits statistics going up regularly. The word will be spread and the word will gather strength and behold! ITV will triumph and Emmerdale shall rule the airwaves not that depressing suicide inducing crap they call Eastenders…..
and Trevor McDonald and the ‘bongs’ are back on Monday! With luck the BBC News will then fall by the wayside again!
Spread the word!

A comment at Peter Hitchen’s blog.
“On the subject of Asian no go areas. Eid in Rusholme, Manchester is a dangerous place. Youths, usually in overloaded, high peformance hire cars, dangerously race around and will pelt any walking white people with whatever’s at hand whilst the police stand by and watch. A family member is a serving police officer and told me this tale. At a pre event briefing a senior officer told all officers that under no circumstances must they make any arrest unless deemed serious enough to warrant it, due to BBC cameras being in attendance. One sergeant queried this instruction as it conflicted with the advice given on new years eve of zero tollerance and tough policing. He was told to “just get on with his job!””

Hm. Maybe.
I have another question.
I am sure BBC newsrooms are filled with hopeless Leftoids, but what about other branches.
They are probably not hopeless.
I’ve run into BBC techies on several occasions at the NAB show in Las Vegas. They seem like a normal set of nice slashdot reading geeks.
No reason to mix them with the likes of abu-Bowen.
What can be done to separate the Leftist core from the others?

Sue,
I like your “Teflon” analogy for the BBC. The Teflon Corporation. Impervious to criticism due to its mandatory license fee coating.
I’m not questioning whether fighting the bias is worthy, only the methods used!
Our endless discussions with JR, are only giving them more ideas on how to skew the articles with the ability to point to the last sentence in the article and say: “Look we mentioned it this or that, we are not biased”
We did it recently with exposing their use of “so-called”.
Now they will switch to just putting whatever they hate under quotes instead of prefixing with so-called.

Or as Eric Idle would have said:-
“What? And have nothing to do at the weekends?”
The Fat Contractor:
“The BBC is not reliant on the license fee.”
No, I suspect that convoy of money trucks that roll up to the BBC every year could quite happily be dumped in the skip and it wouldn’t so much as register a blip on the BBCs operation.
Now who’s ignoring the wood for the trees?
Sue:
Re J.R:-
“He seemed to somehow represent a glimmer of hope, but unfortunately I now feel he is impervious, teflon, and it is pointless hoping for any change in the BBC’s bias any time soon.”
Yes, he’s being paid fistfuls of money to take an opposing view. If I was on his fat wad I’d soon see the BBC through his pound sign tinted glasses.
Rather than take away anything from the over staffed BBC I’d say this blog has given jobs to a fair few people, who would otherwise be wandering aimlessly around the corridors of power at the BBC (or should that be ‘powder’) with nothing to do but gaze lovingly at their bank statements.
Peter:
“The idiot box is a permanent fixture of modern life, moreover most don’t mind paying the BBC Tax.”
And that is the final irony.
So why are so many of you up here attacking the messenger (the BBC) instead of the message. The message being that the zombified masses are quite happy to have the BBC extort a large chunk of their per annum from them, whilst forcing it’s peurile champagne socialism down their throats – because it’s EASIER than DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
As long as fifty million or so can’t be bothered to do anything about it, it would take little more than a full scale social revolution to silence the Beeb.
But if reading this blog helps swallow the poison pill of reality, I’m sure it’s a suitable anesthetic for most until they hear the cries of muslim prayer on the idiot box in place of the mumblings of “Eastenders”.

I tried to answer the question here:
http://www.haloscan.com/comments/patrickcrozier/2655299103329493632/#379921
We did it recently with exposing their use of “so-called”.

For some time now we’ve been attacking the so-called BBC’s use of “so-called” and the sneer quotes it uses to distance itself from the issue it is quoting. And a while back the little propagandists were coming out with statements like “home-made rockets that rarely cause injuries” on the subject of Kassams. We pointed out at the time that it was tantamount to lying since to only talk of injuries would be interpreted as the Kassams never causing deaths. It also seemed to become obligatory in every single report on Kassams to mention that they were “home-made” as if a memo had gone out. Well, it probably did. BBC hacks even tried variations on the theme by calling them “clumsy”, “ineffective” and “inaccurate.” We joked here about the BBC producing clumsy, inaccurate and home-made reporting. Their propaganda dried up after a while and now, as was discussed above, they seldom mention Kassam attacks.
Whether or not this site had any effect on the reporting is difficult to know. But for the BBC to ignore the Kassams is worse than portraying them as mostly harmless, firecracker-type things. So if we asssume that this site did in fact influence the reporting, it wasn’t a positive influence.
But to come back to your original question, if the BBC hides its bias, that’s what it is supposed to do, even though it does so because of underhand motives.
I’ve run into BBC techies on several occasions at the NAB show in Las Vegas. They seem like a normal set of nice slashdot reading geeks.

Maybe the techies should go on strike and refuse to help the BBC pump out its propaganda at least until it moderates it a bit.

“”home-made rockets that rarely cause injuries” on the subject of Kassams. ”
On the subject of this,a friend of mine,a naval engineer, told me “They were only little rockets”.
“Where did you get that idea?” I asked.”On the BBC”, he said.
I sent him some pictures of the damage Kassams can do and asked him “If he would like one of those going off in the close where he lives?”
This was pure propaganda on the part of the BBC,no doubt to play down the seriousness of the Kassam attacks on Israel and play up Israel’s “disproportionate” response.

You misunderstand. The Government pays the BBC £xMillion each year. The Government is re-imbursed by the licence payer. The amount the government pays the BBC never matches the amount received from the licence money. Not paying the licence fee is personally satisfying but does bugger all to reduce the BBCs income.
The licence fee is a tax, like the road tax. If everybody didn’t pay the government would just fund the BBC from general taxation instead. The only effect would be a change in spin.

AJukDD: Makes the most valid point on this thread, where did John Reith get his figures for civilian deaths from Israeli attacks from?.
Clearly John Reith needs to provide exactly how he managed to come up with the figures he spouts.
Unfortunatly, the posters here have once again missed the chance to force John Reith hand, you allow yourselves to be misdirected by John Reith into other topics, if John Reith cannot/will not answer the question than anything he says will be discredited.
Posters here must use John Reith weakness against him, if he cannot prove his claims then keep pushing him, eventually John Reith will either go away or start telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Can I say, having just seen the Newswatch segment on the BBC coverage of the US elections, a personal three cheers for the British Public?
One has to wonder just how many complaints were sent in for the BBC to react with such a large gesture. I would have expected that, at most, there would be a short dance routine on Helen Boaden’s blog. They must have been inundated with irritated citizens, and felt the need to do an apologia.
It’s too bad Snoddy stopped with the charge that there was too much coverage, to soon, and not interesting enough to the British Public, and didn’t go into any charges of pro-Democrat bias. I suppose it’s probable that the majority of complaints were about the former, and not the latter. But I doubt that there were so few complaints about bias that they could say it wasn’t worth a mention.
Sure, BBC, I grant you that this is an important story, most powerful person in the world, etc. But is there some reason this particular election is, shall we say, especially important? It’s a shame Snoddy didn’t ask that. The fact that he didn’t raises another obvious question, though.
I’m not saying there is a company policy, but there is definitely something in the mindset of those in charge, as well as those actually doing the reports, which makes them particularly interested this time round. There is no need for me to spell out why.
Further, one part of Peter Barron’s defense sounded suspiciously like the sentiments expressed in this editorial from the Brussels (Flemish) newspaper, De Standaard, in which they claim that because the US has so much influence on things, that the whole world should get to vote in the elections:
http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/2825
Barron didn’t go that far in his comments, to be sure, but I’d like to remind everyone again about what the Guardian tried last time with their letter-writing campaign. The main point was that everyone is affected by US elections, so everyone is entitled to have their say. The Guardian used its influence over its readers in an attempt to do just that.
I have admitted before that I view BBC coverage of the US elections with suspicions of just such an attitude, and now Peter Barron has proved me right.
Keep complaining, everyone. They’re not stupid. Some eyes may even be opened one day. Don’t be sheep.
