UNIVERSAL SHAMI.

What is it with the BBC and self-appointed “human rights” advocate Shami Chakrabarti? This little doe-eyed busybody appears to be a permanent inhabitant of BBC studios. She was on the most recent “Have I got news for you” programme, showing just how witless she is. This morning she was on the Today programme acting as the official spokesperson for those who oppose the 42 day detention bill. But she has no mandate whatsoever and it is merely the fact that BBC has decided to elevate her and the oxymoronic Liberty group which she represents that provides her with this bully pulpit. Whether it is panel games, current affairs or news items, Shami is assured her place by the BBC. Why?

Al Beeb always interviews the looney left to voice their opinion on the news, whether its greenpeace or Liberty, or some other looney group, they have the same mindset as the looney left Beeboids

The BBC’s bias and political addiction to the National Lottery funded lobby organisation, ‘Liberty’,and its ever-present spokesperson, Ms. S. Chakrabarti, is atavistic and unending.

Ms. S.Chakrabarti, and her totally uncritical political acolytes at the BBC, and in the liberal/Left, defines ‘liberty’in practice and selectively, as an anti-British, anti-American campaign, with a predilection to support Islam.

It would be out of character for ‘Liberty’ to support Christians in this case involving human rights:

Poor Shami is just a lower ranking member of the political class trying to work her way up with Liberty (it used to be the NCL) being a good way of getting noticed. No doubt in 20 years time she will be the Home Secretary and pushing 365 day detention and compulsory RFID chip implants in all citizens yet in her eyes keeping to her principles. If not she will end up working for the EU or even as a BBC governor so the circle can be completed.

It is interesting though how the Beeb appears to talent spot younger members of the political class quite early and give them prominence and importance. Mind you they have to have the “right” views.

Did she actually say *anything* on HIGNFY?

1327 is right of course, like previous directors before her, she’ll switch horses to Labour in a couple of years and then forget her profound attachment to civil liberties. Civil liberties for some, that is, Liberty never seem able to comment on the denial of civil liberties to anyone ont he right.

So that’s Chakrabarti, Jimmy Carter and Amnesty that should be banned from the BBC. And the UN. And Hugh Orde. Martin Mcguinness as well.

How better it would be and how much more impartial if we could just ban them from the airwaves like you can ban people from your website. How much more impartial to not have to listen to those we disagree with. Good one. I look forward to this new BBC where only the voice of Vance is allowed.

A point someone raised earlier – what right did the beeboids have to constructively never admit the bnp exist ? Are we not to be allowed to decide for ourselves, that we don’t like them ?
Has anyone noticed how we now get a trade unionist a day on toady, telling us how we need a windfall tax on oil co’s ( as though gordo’s 80% plus current tax take isn’t enough !)
Does this mean the beeboids are endorsing the ‘must move to the left to re-engage with traditional labour votors’ strategy ? Or is it one of the conditions the unions have stipulated, free access to the bbc, to take up the labour funding shortfall ?

Liberty’s views on ID cards are interesting. While I believe they are against them Shami rarely mentions this subject and it doesn’t seem to be mentioned on their main webpage. Thankfully the slack has been taken up by much better independent protest groups but it is a little unusual Liberty don’t want to get involved in what has to be the civil liberties issue of the moment. An unkind person might say that this is because they don’t want to upset their friends in the Labour party and worse put their lottery funding in peril.

In the Sunday Times they have a list of the most powerful people in Britain, this ‘Human RIghts’ activist is ranked in the top 10 most powerful people.

Why on earth does the BBC allow this deluded person so much air-time to spout her distorted views?, the BBC by giving Chakrabarti so much air-time allows her by default to gain credibility for her views, which in turn leads to more TV interviews, and more appearances on the BBC.

That would, by the way, be the same Mark Steyn who, briefly, worked for the BBC – which swiftly gave him the boot once it worked out his political stance.

Good points which I very much agree with.

    However

On this matter Shami C is right IMO.

What can you do with 42 days you can not do with 28 days? Which is already a very long time to be held in a prison cell away from you job, family, or business without even knowing what you are maybe going to be charged with. Any normal person could well have gone completely insane after a week never mind 6 weeks.

I simply dont see the point in it. Unless the point is winding up innocent but rather volatile young Muslim men, possibly provoking them to later violence or civil disorder.

Just imagine how you would feel if after 6 weeks away from your job your wife had left you and your business had gone bankrupt.

If the old bill cant cobble together a charge after a month, of hopefully working as fast as possible, then its very likely the suspect is innocent anyway.

You would all do well to remember that if this country carries on the way it is for too many more years, it may be your children one day locked up without charges for months, for saying something the government of the day is not too keen on. Even though it plainly cant prove anything or what they dont like is not illegal anyway, otherwise they would have CHARGED them with something.

I see no useful positive point in this measure whatsoever. A viewpoint shared with almost the entire Conservative Parliamentary Party, I am very glad to say.

The BBC is tired and clueless. That’s why it constantly recycles failed leftist pols like Tony Benn (on the wrong side of every debate in history) and Roy Hattersley (ineffectual and opinionated). Even worse are Abbott & Postello.
