HARMLESS ROCKETS

. I see that Palestinian terrorists are continuing to fire rockets into Israel, one week into the much vaunted “truce.” I was intrigued to read this BBC report which states that the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade said they fired the rocket, which fell harmlessly, to retaliate for alleged Israeli violations of the truce. Subtle, eh? OK so the Palis did FIRE a rocket or two but they were harmless and anyway those pesky Jews had violated the “truce” so retaliation was only to be expected, right? Why is the BBC so relentlessly pro-Palestinian no matter how blatant the savagery from Al Aqsa and Hamas? Notice the way in which the BBC gives Hamas claims priority in this story.

That example of BBC bias is quite remarkable , as discussed on the general thread, see Bio:

But the Bias in the report about the “Jewish Nackba” was even worse. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/7469745.stm

Mentioned by Pounce, Simon and Bio.

The BBC made no attempt at all to present a balanced report. Using only Arab affairs analyst Magdi Abdelhadi to summarise the meeting and misrepresent the case put by Justice for Jews was about the most blatant example of bias I have seen yet.

I’m firmly convinced that part of the deal the BBC, and possibly the UK government, struck with Hamas for the release of Alan Johnston included acting as Hamas’s conduit for their propaganda.

It’s just been too much of a coincidence that since Johnston’s release news from Gaza reads the way it does with preference always being given to “local sources”, “the Official Palestinian News agency”, “neighbors”, “witnesses” and the like over and above any Israeli source.

The price of Alan Johnston’s freedom?

    Truth.

    Imitation: Flattery’s Highest Form

Former British diplomat Peter Hain urges South Africa to cut electricity to Zimbabwe:

“Electricity supplies from South Africa, which have been going in for many years now, should be cut off. And that would hit the regime more than anything else because the people can hardly suffer any more than they have been already,” he said.

Power reductions are only “collective punishment” when Israel does it.

Sadly, that’s pennies to the BBC, as that’s all the value their Pallywood coverage had under Johnston’s watch.

    “He’s one of you.”

    They said.

The price of Alan johnson? The BBC are employing Haleem Maqbool to report from Gaza now. Quite how a islamist/hamas sympathiser can report the conflict in an unbiased way is beyond me! Unless this is part of the ‘release fee’?

    Melanie Phillips/ al-Dura / Western journalists.

“almost every stringer now delivering local copy and images from Gaza to Western journalists answers to Hamas. Western journalists know that if they cross Hamas, their lives will be in danger — and British journalists, Seaman says, are the most compliant of all.”

Most of the panellists on Question Time including Pauline Neville-Jones (who has worked in Zimbabwe when it was Rhodesia) were in agreement.
The way to deal with Zim was draconian sanctions. “Cut off supplies!” they intoned. “Take away all their electricity!”
I could hardly believe my ears. They were all, to a man, and a transgender thing, advocating collective punishment, the terrible crime condemned by the whole wide world that is being perpetrated by evil Israel against the poorpalestinians!

This is ridiculous – it’s a purely factual story. If a rocket has been fired I want to know if it caused any damage. If there was a reason (or “alleged” reason as has been correctly stated) for the rocket, I want to know it.

It would be nice if the Beeb could, like, do some journalism and check out whether the reason is true but I suppose you can’t have everything…

Yes, Israelis do attack and bomb (no quotes, by the way) Palestinians, killing them in a ratio greater than 10:1 compared to their own casualties. How’s that for bias? The BBC has a lot to learn from the pro-Israeli camp when it comes to presenting a completely distorted view of right and wrong. Time to trot out the old familiar slur now…

That’s pretty good as bias goes. The BBC has done a good job on you.

You’re obviously annoyed that more Israelis don’t die, but you’ll just have to learn to live with it, and your hatred of Jews.

Nobody is disputing the volume difference in casualties. Not ever on this site has anyone complained about that.

The problem lies in the whys and wherefores. According to the BBC, it all started when Israel hit back at the Palestinians. Palestinians who engage in acts of violence against Israelis seem to be almost universally innocent. Israel seems only to “attack”, while Hamas and all the other favorite sons seem merely to “retaliate”. Can you tell the difference between accurately reporting on an incident, and blaming Israel for all of it? Are you aware at all that our complaints are about the BBC demonizing Israel, making the Jews the cause of every problem? Did you know that we have been complaining about the BBC lying about things like the fact that Egypt is a sovereign country with controls over its own borders, or that Iran called for the destruction of Israel long before Israel said they’d attack an Iranian nuclear facility? Haven’t you ever seen comments here about the BBC gently disguising the fact that the majority of Palestinians killed by Israel were not innocent civilians, yet the reverse is not the case? Haven’t you ever seen other threads and comments here regarding the BBC’s moral relativism, acting as if Israel deliberately targets civilians, when in fact the reverse is true? Don’t you know that the complaints here concern what seems to be the BBC’s policy that the Israelis need to shut up and die in greater numbers? There is a very long list of things the BBC gets wrong about its coverage of the region, but the mathematical difference in the total number of casualties isn’t one of them.

Do you see the difference between all these things and your false contention that we’re saying that the BBC shouldn’t report that Israel has killed more Palestinians than vice versa? Were you aware of any other issues? Do you care to address any of the actual issues, instead of making one up yourself?

Do you think that the Israelis need to shut up and die in greater numbers, as that would be fair enough? Is that how you define “right and wrong”?

I’d like to see some answers on these issues from you before I trot out any old slurs.

From your comment it’s clear you would stand an excellent chance of securing a senior position on the BBC Middle East staff. Watch out Jeremy, he’s behind you.!
