GOING WITH THE PROCESS.

So often with the BBC the bias lies in what is does not say. Here is a good example of how the BBC assiduously cultivates what government wants with no regard to providing a broader balanced view.

The BBC report here covers a secret meeting between the NI Security Minister Paul Goggins and members of the UDA terrorist group. The impression given is that Goggins is “getting tough” with these verminous thugs. However, don’t be fooled. Another local media outlet has revealed that Goggins has declined to call on police to seize loyalist weapons after a senior PSNI officer indicated police know how to find arms dumps!

So two versions of Security Minister Paul Goggins. The BBC version which portrays him as a tough-talking kinda guy who is determined to sort out armed terrorists and then there is the Belfast Telegraph version which reveals Goggins restraining the Police from carrying out their lawful duty to protect the public! I know which version I believe. With BBC reports you have to read between the lines….

Oh dear, I’m afraid you’ve made another mistake.

I know you’ve been away for a while, but if you watch the video report on the BBC NI page, I think all will be explained.

Assistant Chief Constable Peter Sheridan has explained that he was misquoted and has quite vehmently denied that the police know the locations of the arms dumps.

I know the Telegraph gives the article’s date as Wednesday 30th but I think its older than that. The Newsline report on the website was the same one I saw last night on TV. So the BBC’s report came well after the Telegraphs. The recent comments about the arms dump are covered in the video report.

The BBC website report would seem to me to be largely just the facts and doesn’t represent the entirety of the BBC’s coverage of the issue.

Can I say too that it’s good to be back. I can’t think why I was banned, maybe you just didn’t want me posting while you were away?

    Hi All,

Just a word to say the site has been blocked by blogger which means I cannot post as normal. The site will de deleted in 20 days unless we can resolve this issue and I have made the site owner aware of the issue.

It would seem that someone, somewhere, has attacked the integriy of the site in a way I cannot quite understand.

I had wanted to put up three posts this morning.

I wanted to talk about the Today programes outrageous attack on Jersey this morning. I wanted to talk about Justin Webb’s incredibly slanted analysis of the selection of the VP process in the US Presidential election. I wanted to cover the BBC’s leading the charge for the “windfall tax” on private enterprise. But all I can do is post these items here and hope you may respond.

I am very disturbed at this attack on the site and can assure you that normal service will resume just as soon as the site owner deals with Blogger and whatever the problem is.

I know you probably think I will deny any allegation of bias and defend the Beeb every time and I can appreciate why.

But in this case, you are simply mistaken.

Further to my earlier post, I think the date on the Telegraph article is actually correct. So the BBC Newsline report, whether it was at 6.30 or 10.30 that evening had already clarfied that the officer had been misquoted, this was widely reported as well.

I would also disagree that the article gives the impression that the British are “getting tough” with the UDA. If you watch the report, they are in talks with the UDA about decommissioning and there is a deadline because the legislation governing the International Commission on Decommissioning runs out in 6 months. It simply reflects the facts and the political reality in a couple of paragraphs.

    ‘TPO:
Ban him again please’ – ban me if I merit it, but would you ban me for pointing out that you are simply wrong in this case?

I’m sorry for stating that the Telegraph had the wrong date on the article, I was mistaken. Can you admit the same and move on.

Your label Irish Terrorism is misleading. You are obviously unaware of the fact that Northern Ireland is British. Therefore the terrorism that emanates from there is British Terrorism. It is simply another form of the British terrorism which gave the world Richard Shoes Reid , the Liquid Bombers, the tube bombers etc…

I assume that Justin Webb omitted to mention John Edwards.

On the windfall tax, the BBC must surely understand that the profits of the energy companies are needed to reflate the private pension funds which Gordon Brown robbed. The money would be better in the pension funds than going down NuLab’s public sector drain. Then again, Brown has a block vote to buy, and the BBC understands this perfectly.

I’ve said many times that the Beeboids who report on the US take their cues from the Leftoid media (I thought they were supposed to give us “a British perspective, an International perspective”, but I digress). In the case of the John Edwards story, this is very obvious.

The LA Times actually sent out a stifle order…er.. suggestion to its reporters who blog:

    http://www.slate.com/id/2196224/#latedict

It’s more than one unsubstantiated rumor now, apparently. Naughty Fox News and other non-Leftoid publications have slowly started to mention the Edwards (alleged) affair, but until The Nation or the Washington Post gives the all-clear, you won’t hear it from the BBC.

Mickey Kaus is a good source for actual info.

I personally don’t care how much coverage this gets. Edwards isn’t running for anything or campaigning for anyone, and won’t turn anybody’s vote in November. I’m also very sympathetic to leaving him the hell alone on account of his wife. But that also makes him all the more disgusting if this is true.

Sorry! The above belongs on the other thread. The following comment is meant for this one:

Lots of Blogspot sites have apparently been blocked or messed about recently. It seems to be Google again. People report the blogs as spamblogs to them (usually for political reasons, like what happened a few weeks ago), and Google brings down the hammer. Or, at least, Google claims that’s what happened. Seeing as how Google’s political duplicitiy makes them very untrustworthy on these issues, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an internal decision. Not from the very top, mind, but they do the same thing with YouTube.

Interesting to see that youtube have now taken off the video of Brown in the bunker after the Glasgow by-election. Now who would have pressured them on that one I wonder???

David: good luck with blogger. My advice: get an independent “www” website.

About Joel: we need him. If he is banned we place ourselves on the side of the book-burning, “ban Fox News” and “anyone-we-disagree-with” types. I’m sure none of us in the real world (as opposed to Television Centre) are afraid of healthy debate. And its good for the BBC to have their say here – ‘Joel’ is probably a Beeboid sitting in White City monitoring Biased BBC from the corporate affairs department.

Finally: the BBC’s American election coverage? As a Brit living in the USA I can see it for what it is: AWFUL! Not just biased but incomplete to the point of misrepresentation.

No, I have to put up with CNN and ABC, and virulent liberals who will actually attack you in public, and my next possible president, whom they worship, pisses ice cream.

The perspectives on this board are eye opening, I congratulate the level of intelligence here.

It is forums/blogs/the words of dissenters such as yourselves who retake that which has been stolen. Having lived in Suffolk Britain has a warm spot in my heart, and I have worried the nation was lost. This Yankee Doodle sleeps easier knowing you speak out. It sometimes seems as if the original English speaking world may disappear at any moment! God be with us. We gave them rock and roll, the computer, and the mini skirt. Look how they repay us 🙂

    Hi betyangelo
I understand your contempt for CNN and ABC as I lived in Connecticut for 18 months. The main difference though is that you are not forced to pay for them by the threat of prison sentence and criminal record. We on the other hand are forced to pay to have this left wing biased liberal BBC shite pedalled out on TV, Radio and Internet and rammed down our throats 24 hours a day. They don’t even try to hide their pro-liberal, anti US anti British, anti Israeli, pro everything Islamic bias anymore.

I’m just studying up on the person, in an other thread you all called Red Ken, and his rise to political power.
But I don’t wnat to go off subject…

I am curious, there seems to be a difference of opinion as to wether Ireland is Irish or British…”You are obviously unaware of the fact that Northern Ireland is British. Therefore the terrorism that emanates from there is British Terrorism”

A simplistic query I realize, but what is this? Puerto Rico is a territory of the US, yet always Puerto Rico. If there were terrorism there, it would be Puerto Rican. Or is this one of those hair splitting subjects?

If only the answer was as simplistic. Far be it from to be able to explain the history so you may find this a good starting point to start learning. I’ve never looked at the site in detail so cannot vouch for it’s accuracy but once you get the gist you can start researching for yourself if you wish.

A Big IE7 Problem on the Web – Update: Sitemeter Responsible?
Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 6:56:09 pm PDT

I’ve confirmed that there’s some kind of problem on the Internet, that only seems to affect users of the Internet Explorer 7 web browser. Attempting to browse to many sites results in an ‘Operation Aborted’ error. No information about the problem elsewhere yet … stay tuned.

    UPDATE at 8/1/08 7:20:27 pm:

It appears to be related to Sitemeter.com — browsing to their web site with Internet Explorer 7 produces the error too.
