Just caught the BBC Ten O Clock News and listened to Al Beeb’s coverage of the conviction of three Muslims intent on mass murder. However what started me was when Frank Gardner appeared to tell us that although the men have been found guilty of a massive terrorist conspiracy to murder involving home-made bombs the men were not convicted on charges of plotting to bomb transatlantic airliners. Frank blamed the US for this failure in the UK courts- alleging that unspecified American pressure had caused charges to be brought before full evidence was gathered. So once more the BBC is keener to put the US in the dock before the murderous Jihadists. Gardner is a disgrace.
ISLAMISTS CONVICTED… AND SO IS USA.

so true.
it would be hard to find a more partial hack. every report he does has some anti USA slant.
i just find him so dull.

IS this the Frank Gardner of “don’t shoot me I’m a muslim” a few years back in saudi ?
Or am i getting confused with someone else?

That’s him, possibly the ultimate example of the Stockholm Syndrome…

Frank Gardner is not a Security Expert, he’s an excuse for Islam.

Pathetic. Just pathetic.
Is there no story the BBC can run without using it as an excuse to show their hatred of the USA?

Or this could have been one small part of the overall story, an aspect also covered by ITV news

Yes. Perhaps that dickhead Gardner would have been better off buying some body armour rather than a copy of the fucking Koran?

I occasionally sell body armour, no Beeboid customers yet though.
If I do get one I’ll be very tempted to replace the kevlar liner with material cut from the dogs blanket.

The MSNBC cable channel has sidelined two Democrat-supporting presenters from coverage of major political events, after months of concern that their political leanings were colouring their work.

This has been all over the US media today (I heard it on AFN news whilst driving to work). One would think Al Beeb might look into the reporting of Frei and Webb… but then there’s little chance of that.
I’m pretty sure Bill O’Reilly will dedicate these clowns (Olberman and Matthews) a few seconds later.
P.S.: Fox News have picked up on Osama’s “my muslim faith” interview: http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/08/obama-my-muslim-faith-gaffe-fuels-new-round-of-rumor-busting/

Somewhat off-topic, I confess, but that Telegraph piece shows how far the paper has drifted to the Left.

I think the comments show how far the Telegraph has drifted to the Left but then so has the “Conservative” Party. I believe Europe is doomed (Guardian, Independent, Al Beeb etc.)
One German paper actually changed the name of a suspected criminal from his original (Turkish) name to a German name. That’s what the MSM are doing these days.

I used to do a lot of security work for Al Beeb and you couldnt do anything without being issued a stab vest or hardened baseball cap.
By the way I am currently down in Aguascalientes, Mexico and it’s kicking off big style, can you send a couple of sets with plates doen here ASAP!

Sadly, I think you might be right. I can’t see any way out of this mess. No mater how many times it is proved that socialism makes people’s lives immeasurably worse, its gut appeal to the stupid means it will always win elections.

Tim – you are in hot water in a place called ‘hot water’ ?
Sadly I’ve only got two vests at the moment and I’m hanging on to those, I reckon things in the UK are going to get a whole lot worse before they get any better.
I doubt my best wishes can deflect bullets, but have them all the same…

Gardner is just fighting for his side and beliefs..they just don’t coincide with those of anybody decent.

HSLD;
Yep we have named this operation “Hot Water” – It is rough in this town, 4 top cops killed in the last week or so and big gun battles today!
Thanks for your wishes.

At the risk of a “Mr Jaggers” pointing out “innocent until proved guilty” and the fact that I haven’t heard the full evidence; I think if it was presented to me that these suicide videos were deliberately faked and that the only intention was to cause a “political spectacle”, I would have burst out laughing.
Although it was “unable to reach verdict”, rather than “not guilty”; in my opinion they must have had an amazing barrister or a very sympathetic jury.
Either way no-one can possibly blame the USA for the verdict. The fact a BBC journalist chose to make such vague accusations says a lot about their editorial judgement. Was the piece scripted?

What was he blaming the Americans for. Would he and the rest of the BBC not consider a charge of terrorism against muslims NOT getting proved as a good thing?

I’ve just watched the report.
The first two reports were about the convictions, fairly straight relaying of the verdict, suicide videos, links to Pakistan (revealed by the BBC) etc.
Gardner’s mentioned that his sources, ‘sources at the heart of the case’ has expressed some resentment about American interference in thE process which meant they were arrested sooner than these sources would have liked.
There’s a well known debate for police and intelligence agencies when surveilling a plot, about when to make their move, long enough to collect enough evidence but not too long that you lose control and the terrorists carry out their attack. This was put forward as a factor in why the suspects weren’t convicted of the airline plot.
It’s a well known debate, anyone could easily argue that police are best erring on the side of caution. If they’d gathered more evidence before arresting them, they might have secured a conviction for the airline plot. If they’d left it too long it might have been too late. You could argue the Americans saved countless lives because they followed that course.Come to your own conclusions.
To put this down to ‘having a go at American’ shows a very rudimentary understanding. But I don’t think you’re that stupid, so what is it?

Well, he’s right up there, but I think that award goes to Yvonne Ridley.

“Socialism’s gut appeal to the stupid means that it will always win elections.”
Socialism also appeals to the self-interested, such as the BBC.
The Corporation is part of the unnecessary end of the public sector. Hence its promotion of leftist, high public-spending policies, whatever government is elected.
The only solution is to cut off the BBC’s tax-funding altogether, and return the money saved to the taxpayer.

Despite Government insistence that terrorists are just naughty criminals, it is obvious that the crimes are politically motivated. So trying these cases in London must result in the probability of at least 2 members of the jury being sympathetic to those on trial.A conviction could be impossible. Perhaps a return of Diplock courts will be required.

With reagrds to the manifestly unsatisfactory verdict on the convicted Islamists, I would quite like to know the composition of the jury.

Interesting to see how this is reported in the quality press:

(I find the jury’s decison amazing)

I would like to know more about the make up the jury too. Were some of them not prepared to put kuffrs over their own faith, or were they subject to pressure within their own community?

I see the BBC article refers to a “terrorist conspiracy”. Don’t they mean “militant”?
Or are militants / insurgents only found outside the UK?

Before there were lots of dead Americans, I expect. There’s nothing the BBC likes more than to have a good old celebration when there are dead Americans.

So Gardner has ‘sources’ does he.
I retired 3 years ago, but during my time, being involved in a plethora of intelligence investigations, it never ceased to amaze me how often some gullible schmuck at the BBC was used to punt an excuse for a particular agency in the UK. Garner and Corera are the latest ‘useful idiots’.
A couple of years ago, when something I had been involved in, came to fruition, the BBC on their first news item had Tom Mangold breathlessly telling all and sundry that his ‘sources’ had imparted certain information that he could share with the viewers.
Trouble was, not only was it a complete fabrication, but it was a buff job for the organisation that had hindered and obstructed the whole investigation from start to finish because their agenda was different to everyone elses.
It was essentially an FBI/US Customs job with UK NCS support and very successful, Mangold’s ‘sources’ were effectively frozen out. They used Mangold to convey the view to government that they were ‘the prime movers’ behind the op.
I see the same organisation’s hand behind Gardner’s ‘briefing’, and it’s not the police.
Time someone sawed through the spokes of this fool’s wheelchair.

Hi TPO – do you think Duncan Gardham at the Telegraph has the same sources? He quotes 3 in his article and writes more explicitly, if anything.

hmm, your one is not quite as ‘it was bush’s fault’ as the one I linked to but it definitely looks like an exercise in damage limitation ie blame the yanks. And going back to the point of David’s OP it is not just the beeb who are playing along.
I hope the CPS/Prosecution get their act together for the retrial.

TPO – Interestingly, Peter Taylor’s programme http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00dpxxv can find no direct involvement from Bush.
I wouldn’t bet on Taylor getting it wrong…

Unfortunately this is the message I get when I try to play it:
‘Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only, but all BBC iPlayer Radio programmes are available to you. Why?’

Hmm – it will be something to do with rights and/or working out how to charge you for it.
Pity you would have at least found it watchable, due to a combination of being much clever than most executives and being old enough to not give a shit Taylor is unafraid of calling terrorists terrorists and pointing out when their religion may have some role in their motivation.
I am sure some enterprising soul will have put it on youtube or bittorrent (not that I could condone such actions of course…), I will have a look.

Just gone 9:0pm here and we’re putting little one to bed. Will view it tomorrow.
I’m not revealing anything not already in the public domain when I say that we actually need the US far more than they need us in this particular arena.
They provide about 80% of the worldwide sigint and elint, we provide about 18%. I’ll let you guess who provides the rest.
In overseas humint ops it is still the geezers at Vauxhall Cross that do the work – not Toad Hall.
