The crazy gang return tonight and, if you can find the courage, tune in and let’s have our regular evisceration of bias incarnate! Hope Melanie does well.
jim murphy – labour – left
nicola sturgeon – SNP – left
tavish scott – Lib Dem – left
philip hammond – Conservative – right?
melanie philips – journalist – right
i say “right?” with regards to Hammond, as i am not sure if he is a member of the Ken Clarke EUSSR club or not.
Good news – IRA terrorist Martin McGuinness is on the panel in a few weeks time. Wonder will he share his favourite moments from three and a half decades of vile bloody terrorism. Good old BBC – ALWAYS loving a terrorist.
Recall that Melanie is only a “social” conservative. Her conversion from loonie Guardianista was due to the “all shall have prizes” nonsense (which even she couldn’t ignore) plus the sight of her Islington pals coming out of the antisemitic (sorry, anti-Israel) cupboard. Her support for Brownonomics should come as little surprise.
It comes to all “journalists” in the end – they have a craving for being in the limelight and if you don’t sing the praises of the BBC you will suffer.
I wonder if these geniuses are going to apologise if our economy falls off a cliff with the huge government spending we are incurring? Probably not, the overpaid windbags –and someone shoot Livingstone for the love of God!!
On the differences between Hammond and Phillips on this: Hammond seemed to be implying that monetary stimulus should be the main stimulus, concerned about future national debt and tax implications of Labour’s fiscal expansion. I think his emphasis is wrong, and that he underestimates the scale of the economic recession. Phillips was arguing for a kind of Keynesian fiscal expansion.
Of course, there is a danger that Labour’s spending proposals wrongly convert Keynesianism into ‘spend, spend, spend’. Keynes was more cautious than that.
“We now face Keynesian conditions and need truly Keynesian solutions” (by Roger Bootle)
I wrote this yesterday, and it is unfortunate that Melanie Phillips has been got at for she now appears to be the lefty-luvvie.
Have any of you watched Question Time recently? The synchronised right-on PC-fest played by NuLab, wet-Tory and the LibDhim with a lefty luvvy thrown in for entertainment. A BNP spokesman would have a field day because he has the entire field left open to him. That’s why the BBC doesn’t let someone like Nick Griffin on QT.

I think the Conservatives are more worried that this Government will use unfettered borrowing as an excuse for greater public sector spending and waste, They could use it carefully as a precedent to further high borrowing to GDP spending in the future, as in principle borrowing is not necessarily a bad thing; but caution is needed when you have 1) high debt ratios (we have if you include hidden debt –PFI’s, public sector pensions etc) 2) a wasteful government addicted to high spending (£350b in 1997 to £650+b today) I fear early praise for this plan will soon be replaced by a large tax bill and a heavy crash to earth.
Those disappointed by Melanie Phillips’ economic views should not be. She’s a lefty who was mugged by reality on certain social issues. So while it’s quite fair to present her as a righty on social issues (and Israel) she’s still a Guardianista on economics.
And as such she’s certainly no fan of the Conservatives.
Incidentally, I don’t know what her current views on crime and punishment are – she may still be a liberal on that. I’d certainly be amazed if she was pro capital punishment.
Condemning Melanie Phillips as a leftie on the basis that she does not axiomatically condemn every single thing that Brown proposes, seems a surefire way to have this site dismissed as crackpot extreme right.
But I see the principle: if we can find a way of labelling every single person who appears on the BBC as a closet leftie, then our case for bias seems – to us at least – almost unanswerable.
I’m not convinced. “I hope Melanie does well” turns out to mean “I hope Melanie reflects my own views on every issue at all times, otherwise I’ll feel let down, call her a leftie, and see her as part of the problem of bias at the BBC.”
henryflower – Mel is a ‘media liberal’ like the rest of us. And let us not forget that she married a lawyer who works for the BBC – can there be a more dreadful job in the land?
You seem intelligent, able to see both sides of the argument, and unwilling to conform to groupthink – watch it – you’ll be next – you lefty loser 🙂

Coward: “GET LAID”? Which chanel is that on?
I see its on Glasgow; any sweepstakes on how long until ‘Thatcher’ is mentioned?
BNP bashing. No BNP politician there to put their side across of course.
I wouldn’t want to be taught by anyone in the Green Party.
I want labour MP’s adresses published
They allow caps in the Question Time studio huh?
Hearts and minds again
Yip – Pirates need to be understood, and there was me thinking they just needed to be killed.
Clintons to bring stability to Somalia, apparently.
They should all be threatened with asbo’s. That’ll show em.
Nicola Sturgeon blames western fishermen for Somalian piracy!
Latest update- invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq to blame for Somalian piracy. Also, if the boats carried bananas they would be safe.
Quality stuff from the moonbats in the audience.
The war in Iraq is apparently to blame for the oil tanker seizure
David Vance:
Nicola Sturgeon blames western fishermen for Somalian piracy!
It’s that three letter word again!!!!
COD.
Dimble trying to do a hit job on Hammond.
“will anything be sacrosant”
“what about health”
“what about education”
Funny, he doesn’t seem to pressure Labour over the lie of everything being down to America
Three lefties and Melanie Phillips who is now attacking the Tories, who also thinks we should borrow more.
Pathetically biased panel; Question Time is truly back on form
Oops – Melanie supports Brown’s financial madness. Abandon ship! Thatcher now being mentioned by Ms Sturgeon!
Labour’s intention is not for taxes for rise after the next election. Hahahahahaha
Good news – IRA terrorist Martin McGuinness is on the panel in a few weeks time. Wonder will he share his favourite moments from three and a half decades of vile bloody terrorism. Good old BBC – ALWAYS loving a terrorist.
Melanie sucking up to the BBC. Sad to see her lose the plot.
IT was Bill Clinton that took US troops OUT of Somalia in the first place and then left it to Bin Laden and his Islamic cronies.

Umbongo,
Yes, but it means that there is virtually no one now right of liberal to comment on these BBC programmes.
Well that was most enlightening…. NOT!!
Livingstons on next.
God that fucking wanker Livingstone on the BBC AGAIN.

Yes – Ken is enthusing for Marxism, and the BBC cannot get enough of him.
