Ok, we all know that the BBC is going overboard as it hypes up the inauguration of Obama tomorrow. I thought it might be good to gather as many example of this as possible. I happened to catch Thought for the Day this morning to hear The One being compared to Moses. That was quite impressive. The Abe Lincoln comparisons have been coming thick and heavy as well! Any catch your attention? I have to be honest and say my stomach is not strong enough to watch the BBC Obama-fest even though, like you, we are forced to pay for this indulgence.

Indeed. I cited earlier an example of a Justin Webb piece this morning on Today which was measured, balanced, and sceptical about Obama’s ability to deliver against expectations. He interviewed two ex Bush people on this.
You really must consider pieces like this alongside the inevitable fluff if you’re to comment sensibly on whether or not the BBC’s coverage is balanced and impartial.
Oh, come on. We’ve spent months here demonstrating the overwhelming amount of time the BBC spent lambasting Gov. Palin for not being experienced enough to be VP, a position with light duties, but precious little time mentioning The Obamessiah’s complete lack of it, and he was going for the top job.
You can’t come in and pretend that one belated Webb segment makes up for all of that, and the BBC’s coverage is balanced. No way. You’re going to have to come up with a lot more than that. Right now, your claim is at best slightly dishonest.
Rush Limbaugh has just played a clip of the truly awful Gavin Essler and some dumb lefty US lunk-head.
They are very scared that he (Limbaugh) will personally scuttle the imposition of socialist healthcare by spreading ignorance.
Essler then went on to tell him how everyone in received FREE healthcare as a RIGHT.

That was the popular vote percentage between McCain and Obama. 4 % of Americans, one in twenty, swooning youth rebelling against “authority”, plus George Sorros’s billions, sealed Obamas victory. Not that that’s wrong – its how democracy works. But before people start eulogising about “the one”, almost half of Americans said no, FY. All those tossers proclaiming a new dawn have their heads so far up their A**se they have a brown smile, like Obama. This is Americas biggest mistake. Any enemy of Bush is a friend of mine. Wrong.
I think you’re wrong about Justin Webb, as I’ve noted before. Try to get hold of the half hour piece he did on the Bush Presidency on Radio 4 at 8pm this evening; see what you think. In my view, it was a very generous and balanced assessment of Bush’s eight years, which relied heavily on Bush staffers and John Bolton for comment.

From the post 9/11 humilitation of the American ambassador to silly stories about Palin they have ceaselessy and childishly pursued every anti-Bush story to the utmost.
When they choose to do a balanced piece it certainly is newsworthy.

To be fair, the inauguration of a US president doesn’t happen every day. No doubt the BBC will bump a story about Labour’s latest debauchery to make room for it though, burying bad news and all.

It’s wall-to-wall Obama in the newspapers and on the airwaves, and I keep wondering, Was it quite so overwhelming in the run-up to previous inaugurations? I think not. Presumably the gushing media response is generated by some combination of Barack Obama’s being our first African-American president, his being the antidote to an epidemic of Bush Derangement Syndrome, and our growing cult of the presidency. I complained once about people who see the president as “a combination of Superman, Santa Claus, and Mother Teresa,” and this month journalists are leading the way. Even New York Times reporter Helene Cooper, writing the “pool report” for other journalists on Obama’s visit to the Washington Post, noted that “around 100 people•Post reporters perhaps?•awaited PEOTUS’s arrival, cheering and bobbing their coffee cups.” Post reporter Howard Kurtz assured readers that his fellow journalists did gawk, but they did not cheer or applaud.

I hope the BBC and media-conglomerates everywhere are happy with their Obama in 6 months time. They design a series, hype a series, and then watch ratings fall….it will be no different. I feel sorry for Obama…he has a horrible future ahead.
I think the way the media has hyped his election and victory is especially evil because they are waiting to destroy him mercilessly and this is not how major countries should be governed
5 Live this morning (Obamas inauguration day) is just like one big fun party, no gloomy stories just happy jolly presenters in full on party mode. It’s vomit material.
Obamas inauguration is a handy distraction from the collapse of the British economy.
The BBC is celebrating so orgiastically because they are deliriously happy that the US isn’t as nasty as they thought. So many Beeboids – apart from Justin Webb, I’m sure – have convinced themselves that we’re mostly unsophisticated, Evangelical, racist warmongers, who would never elect a black man who ran on a redistributionist, anti-Iraq War platform.
For the last year and a half, the BBC simply couldn’t believe that the majority of United Statesians are not beneath their contempt. Most of you will have noticed that they went through extreme lengths (not to mention expense) to highlight the ugliest failings of my fellow countrymen, condemning us, scolding us, blaming us, for everything possible.
Of course, we’re still the same country we were on Nov. 1, and still the same people they don’t like. The people who freak out ol’ Justin by toasting “Death to Al Qaeda” at dinner are still here, still US citizens. The nasty neocon Jooos are still here, still US citizens. All those hordes of people whom the BBC has openly condemned for their Christian beliefs as denying science and reality are still here, still US citizens.
But because we did something the BBC agrees with on a purely emotional level, it’s all good now, and we’re a transformed country. It’s a load of crap, of course. The only people who have transformed are the Hollywood Leftoids who hated me and my fellow citizens until the day after the election. Now they, just like the BBC, claim it’s okay to be a United Statesian again. What a joke. It was always okay, and electing a black man simply because he’s not a white Republican doesn’t magically transform us at all.
Having said that, I won’t piss on today’s inauguration further. My problem lies not so much with the new President (certain redistributionist and suppressive policies are another matter). I don’t hate him and want him to fail tragically, because that means my country fails tragically. That’s the difference between me and the Leftoids. My problem lies with them.
Instead, I will reprint the words of Libertarian Loon Neal Boortz, who is no friend of the new President:
There is one group of voters and celebrants out there who’s joy I can understand and appreciate; and I’m talking about black voters.
First … let me make a point about “black” vs. “African American.” I’m not one of those out there who slavishly fell in line when Jesse “The Sloganmaster” Jackson decided that from henceforth all blacks shall be referred to as “African-American.” Political correctness run amok. Most blacks in this country have about as much in common with African natives as I have with Finnish yak herders. I just flat-out don’t like hyphenated-Americanism. I’m not European-American, I’m an American … and so is our next president. I’ll just be damned if I’m going to call the President of the United States an “African-American” President.
Now .. having said that, let’s address the overwhelming joy we see in black America over the events of this week. How could blacks NOT be joyous? Someone a few months back told me that Barack Obama was black America’s greatest achievement. I disagreed. I said that black America’s greatest achievement was our black men coming back from World War II to a country where they had separate waiting rooms and drinking fountains; where they had to sit in theatre balconies if they could get into the theatre at all; where they could surely spend their money at Woolworth’s, but don’t try to sit at the lunch counter; where a black soldier couldn’t even find a decent motel in which to put his family to bed as he traveled across our country to a new duty station —– to come home from World War II to experience this oppressive segregation and bias —- and instead of burning this place to the ground going right back out there and fighting for America in the Korean War. There’s black America’s greatest achievement; its forbearance.
I can fully understand that for the black voter; especially the older black voter, voting for Barack Obama transcends politics or policy. It’s about affirmation. A sense of finally and fully belonging. We should all try to appreciate the joy and satisfaction so many of our fellow citizens will get out of this inauguration tomorrow. It may not turn out all that well for the nation; but it sure doing something to pump of the psyche of our black neighbors.
Tomorrow it’s back to fighting Leftoids.
I don’t know why so many B-BBCoids are so upset, after all, your favourite ethnic minority voted, as usual, Democratic.
