The above was me, obviously. I’m an idiot and just ruined my joke on the other thread. Sorry.

‘Spectator magazine’
Rod Liddle:
“The BBC can’t help loving Obama, just as it can’t help encouraging recession”
[Extract]:
“In a more obviously contentious manner it [the BBC] seems to be rigorously pro-Hamas and, in the recent presidential election, openly pro-Obama and anti-McCain. Both of these positions were arrived at more by a sort of naive, humane sentimentality than outright leftist bias, I would argue. But arrived at, somehow, they undoubtedly were. Partisan they undoubtedly were.”

Now here’s something that won’t be hitting the BBC anytime soon methinks.
Israel seizes on claims Gaza death toll has been exaggerated
The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera quoted Gazans claiming that less than 600 people had died in the 22-day attack, far fewer than the 1,300 reported by Palestinian health officials.
“It’s possible that the death toll in Gaza was 500 or 600 at the most, mainly youths aged 17 to 23 who were enlisted by Hamas • who sent them to their deaths,” the newspaper quoted a doctor at the main Shifa hospital as stating.
Other residents told the newspaper Hamas gunmen had used medical facilities to organise and co-ordinate attacks.

I do apologize if anyone has already spotted this, but compare and contrast the reporting of MP Dawn Butler’s “endorsement” from Obama:

The bastards will have to call it a RECESSION now.
UK recession: It’s almost official
Figures published on Friday will provide official confirmation that the UK is in recession for the first time since the early 1990s.

THIS IS HARD STUFF:
In a statement, the BBC said:” The BBC decision was made (…) to avoid any risk of compromising public confidence in the BBC’s impartiality in the context of an ongoing news story.”
Compromising public confidence? This is the last thing which comes to my mind.
But which story on earth is it? Click to find out!

Lot of shrines to Oswald Mosely in Plumstead… apparently. I now fear for me in HR9, which is one third of the mark of the beast… upside down! .
Did you know that if you add together the numerical equivalent numbers for m, w & l you get ’48’, which is only 6 away from the answer to the meaning of Life, the Universe and Everything.
But then, and I’m not sure, I think Douglas Adams was just winding up folk.
We haven’t had a good ban lately. I am sure there is a quango, activist group, researcher or council task force that can get the BBC excited about the possibility. And their mates as they emerge from the pods and start pointing at people with suspect numerals about their person.
Got to love Fridays.

Why does the BBC page on Dawn Butler’s letter from Barack Obama show the version of the letter without the House of Commons portcullis? Could someone ask the BBC to explain why…
Not from the BBC, but there could be a few reasons…
1) It is part of an ’emerging truth’, with the bit that might not help with the truth not quite emerging as much as it might… yet. (I must get the leader of the free world to slap his John Hancock and a piece of paper I have to hand… he seems a trusting sort, and I have some prime swamp land in Florida. Just hope those tinkers at the CIA don’t think up a similar wheeze to get him to OK something he shouldn’t…)
2) Susan Watts and the Newsnight crew have been sharing their expertise on ‘rejigging’ anything with Pres. Obama associated with it to suit the narrative.
3) This is an ‘event’ that need ‘interpreting’, and that bit at the top may just have confused a few simple folk in to asking what the heck was going on, not to mention in the tiny minds of all the protagonists.
But I ‘m sure someone from the BBC will be better placed to clarify.
Oh, this just in, Jeremy has called to say his man on the pulse in Gaza says his brother heard his cousin say it’s all kosher… but then the line went dead for some reason. Possibly along with the cousin.
Aunty, you are becoming a bad joke, like most of mine here. Trouble is, I am not laughing to the tune of £139.50pa, and Mr. Ross tonight is unlikely to improve my mood.

Apropos of Antarctica becoming the new Riviera Bishop Hill lets a NASA scientist tell us it ain’t necessarily so. I don’t think this will get much airing on the BBC.

‘Spectator’
“What the war in Gaza was really about”
Melanie Phillips quotes Kenneth Levin here:
[Extract]:
“The growing threat of radical Islam to European states, particularly as manifested within those states’ immigrant Muslim populations, has in some quarters led to greater sympathy with Israel’s predicament. But elsewhere, especially among the cadres of the Left, which include most of the media, this threat has had the opposite impact and inspired a wishful thinking that all would be well, Islamist hostility would be appeased, if only Israel would make sufficient amends or simply disappear.” (Kenneth Levin).

Looks like the BBC took one small step back from the brink. They still showed their solidarity with the Palestinians towards the end of the article, but at least they looked in the mirror for two seconds. For once.
