It’s fascinating to consider the way in which the BBC covers the news that the Middlesex have re-branded their one day cricket team from “The Crusaders”to “The Panthers”. For some odd reason, there’s been a little bit of news management going on at the BBC. It’s not what they say, it’s what they leave out. Hat-tip to All Seeing Eye.

But why “Panthers” and not
” Lions ” ?

“Infidels” has a ring to it…

While it is an interesting omission, I will grant that David, the post should also be labelled ‘shabbes goy’ – should it not?

Perhaps “Death to those that insult Islam” would be a good name?

I was going to suggest “Cheetahs”, but , as a cricket fan, that wouldn’t do !

What’s up with a team called the “Crusaders” using three Islamic “Swords of Ali” as their logo, anyway? Was that bit of irony lost on the complainers?

David – those are seaxes in heraldic form. Old Saxon weaponry as it happens.

Re the Telegraph article:
I don’t believe a single Jew has complained about this.

“The Middlesex Dhimmis” would seem most apt.

Proud Kuffar,
You and me.

I think Jews have got more important things to worry about at the moment like not being beaten up on the street.

Agreed. And more to worry about than cricket !

Did Jews really protest? I find that hard to believe.
Why not ‘Saracens’?

Why not “Ottomans “. They did so much to shelter the Jews.
Big problem for beeboids to get their heads round that !

If you want to go Ottoman, why not ‘Janissaries’? They did a lot to provide training for Balkan Christian boys.

Oh well, it was funny while it lasted.

Why do Essex and Middlesex have the same three curved swords badge?
Essex
Middlesex
Are the BBC intuitively Middlesex supporters? 🙂

Sometimes it’s amazing what you find when you Google.
The Domestic Crusaders by Wajahat Ali
A two-Act Play about Muslim Pakistani Americans.
Perhaps the author should rename it The Domestic Panthers?

But the Celtic Crusaders have their first ever game in Superleague tonight.
What’s more take a look at their logo.
I don’t see the Welsh allowing their team to be renamed the Celtic Mongooses or the like to appease the pc brigade, but perhaps you should look to its London base to see why Middlesex caved in so readily.

The flag of England, St George’s Cross, is a legacy of our crusading heritage. Wonder when the Beeb’ll start campaigning for a spot of rebranding?

Bron: Spot on. I had to laugh when I heard “Celtic Crusaders” being read out on the BBC this morning.
I think the jocks have a bit more spine and will tell anyone what to do if they complain.

RR: When did you ever see the English flag on the BBC anyway?
The Union flag is seen on occasion but usually it’s the EU flag you see on the BBC.

BTW What ever happened with the lawsuit against Inter Milan for wearing a ‘crusader’ cross on their kit?

Apparently, Middlesex County Cricket Club is not a Crusader, but a Dhimmi.
Will the Club change its name back to ‘Crusaders’ if there are complaints against the Islamic complainers?

Agreed Martin, though they are Welsh not Scots.
