I did so enjoy the pro-radical environmentalism thought for the day on Today this morning from Abdal Hakim Murad – Muslim Chaplain at the University of Cambridge. It’s always nice to start the day with such gentle reflection. Great to see such diversity.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY.

Yes, his real name is Tim Winter. He’s the brother of the Telegraph’s football reporter, Henry Winter.
Funny old world.

It’s rare you comment about Thought for the Day David. Does it offend you that Muslims sometimes get a slot?

Happily I ordinarily miss this leftist bully pulpit. Today reminded me why.

Winter draws on….
There are six slots a week – wonder how their allocation compares with numbers in the population at large. With Lionel Blue and Jonathan Sacks such assured performers, I imagine Judaism is quite well represented.

Didn’t hear this one (in fact, I’ve recently stopped listening to Radio 4 in preference to Classic FM, which is quite good but has very annoying and patronising advertisements), but when I’ve heard him in the past, I’ve been struck how scarcely Islamic he is – hardly a reference to the Quran or ahaditha in the pablum he says.

Crikey. Anne Atkins is on

Proportionality – 2% of the population given over 50% of the air time.

In a letter I wrote to BBC after 9/11 in which I was complaining about their general bias and incompetence, I said
“You spuriously use faith and spirituality on the tasteless and offensive ‘Thought For the Day’, which, if aired at all, should be a spiritual oasis not a political platform.”
which they were still doing up to the time I stopped listening to radio 4, about six months ago.

Damn right David, Muslims shouldn’t be allowed on our airwaves.
You’ve banged them to rights again, keep up the good work.

Bulls**t Detective?
Bulls**t is the adjective here, yes?
(But surely you really meant Bulls**t Detector?)
