Interesting to see how BBC Radio 4 covered the Damian McBride resignation this morning. The line being peddled was that this sort of political “gossip” handles all the time and that the blogosphere which broke the story (Congrats to Guido, of course) is dominated by right wing blogs! There was also a total acceptance of the fabrication that no one else in No. 10 knew anything about McBride’s scheming. Even when Brown’s cabal has caught out, as in this instance, the BBC can be relied upon to do what it can to preserve those in the bunker.

Reading between the lines on Guido’s blog there’s substance to it.

The very first thing the BBC did was to clear Brown first, ‘Brown knew nothing’ and ‘Brown is just as disgusted as everyone else’ and ‘its clear that Brown knew nothing of this’
This is pure BBC cover up tactics, before they even know any of the facts they jump right in and clear Brown straight away, BBC toady this AM is only reporting what OTHERS say about the scandal, they have no wish to open the can of worms, see how it works?
Its all about what others ‘claim’ and then its onto other news very quickly, no need for investigations and cutting interviews, naaaah!
The prime mission is to clear Brown first, then reduce the damage to a scapegoat, then limit the story to ‘claims’ then its onto other much more pressing stories(any story) pushing the story onto the back burner while the BBC/nulabour spinners can collude and cook up a defence, then its back on the agenda when the defence is ready to show the proles that everyone is at fault except Brown of course, he knew nothing, he is still pure and above all the petty party politics that ALL parties engage in, except Brown who is an innocent victim in all of this!

Again the statement that its clear Brown knew nothing about the whole affair, how many times are the BBC going to use this chant?
The BBC are trying to muddy the waters, the victims are portrayed as the villains and the villains have nothing to do with Brown who clearly knew nothing about anything and is innocent of everything, this comes at a time when brown is doign well at the polls(huh?) FFS these people have no shame.
Only the BBC could come out with the statement that Brown was regaining the initiative and was doing well at the polls untill this came along, the narrative is clear, Brown was let down by a couple of loose cannons, Brown is the victim, Brown was doing well untill someone else let him down, its all someone elses fault.
This story will run for days and days yet.
A lot of people don’t realise that even Special Advisors as civil servants on the public payroll have limits set on their activities. When the economy is in deep trouble, amd people are worried for their jobs, the idea of this buffoon spending his time trying to set up slime rumours will really rankle. And a lot of the mud will stick to Brown, whatever defences the BBC tries to invent.
This morning Scott stated that McBride would now “probably get a cushy job with the unions” – makes you wonder if at least one person in Unite was involved in Smearsgate?
There is little doubt that Broon will use both McBride and Draper et al during pre-election, probably by using middleman Mandy, who will have little to lose, and a lot to gain.
bbc are on the back foot trying to show NuLabor MP’s are also horrified at what McBride did – in reality some of these people were victims of McBride, and the rest are only horrified that they were caught at it.
Johnson’s excuse this morning saying Broon was not to blame was breathtaking in its ignorance of the public viewpoint.
The bbc dancing to the torie’s tune after the election?,I doubt it,the election of this government was the death knell for political satire on all channels.

whoops apocalypse, and casualty had to think up other storylines than patients dying because of tory cuts.
NO Mr Cameron, don’t fool yourself that the bbc (and the others) will do anything other than fanatically oppose you through the news,current affairs, comedy and drama.

They may have designated such people as civil servants but they are political party activists, not the civil servants who are impartial non-political administrators as we understand the permanent civil service to be.
I still believe Guido has more ammunition left yet.

As I understansd, McBride is staying within the Downing Street spin machine. He has only resigned from ‘his position’, not the Civil Service.
This morning it came out that by resigning he is no longer a civil servant.
