First off, I’d like to apologise to David Vance. When I commented about the new look on Saturday I was pretty steamed about the loss of all the Haloscan comments and said some stuff I didn’t really mean. I do actually appreciate the work that goes on to provide tossers like me the chance to vent my spleen here. And it seems the Halsocan archive can be accessed in a roundabout way so I’m happier now.
Reading James Lileks’ blog earlier this afternoon I discovered the delights of Xtranormal.com, a website where you can make your own computer generated movies from little more than your own text. And for free! It’s more fun than I could’ve imagined. Here’s my first go – Matt Frei interviewing Obama.
I must say radio 4’s coverage of Pete Seeger’s 90th birthday brushed over his communist and appeasing past rather. And he’s a folk reactionary. Nothing wrong with plugging it in in my book.
PS – For some reason i have it in my head that David Vance is a Thin Lizzy fan. Is this right David? If so, and for the very little it’s worth, I would feel a great deal more warmth towards you, assuming you’re a Robertson man.

As of not very long ago, it looks like the comment system will only allow Google accounts and Open ID (whatever that is). No anonymous or filled-in names.
Was that a deliberate shift in policy, or did somebody accidentally hit the button?

Somebody from Spain was phoning in to the World Service “Europe Today” just now talking about how domestic policies are at least as responsible for Spain’s current economic woes as the global problem. The World Service Beeboid challenges him by saying that most Europeans are blaming the governments, but the government leaders are saying it really is a global problem. “Is that something you can understand?”
And the Beeboid wasn’t questioning the man’s ability to understand English. He’s just emphasizing the Labour Party line.
The Spanish guy gave the answer the Beeboid feared most: Too much of the Spanish scene was focused on construction and real estate. Just like the UK last year. Oops. It’s really a global problem though, right? Right? No local policies can be blamed.

figured out why anonymous comments have been dropped on here – theres a japanese comment spambot hitting all blogger blogs that allow it. just got notification of it.
funny thing is – Haloscan never had a problem with spambots…

The bBC, anti war protests and half the story. Hundreds join city anti-war demoHundreds of anti-war demonstrators have taken to the streets of Brighton in a May Day protest. The march is a larger version of a demonstration that is regularly staged against weapons manufacturer, EDO MBM Technology, which is based in the city. Some demonstrators climbed scaffolding and unfurled a banner on top of a branch of Barclays. Earlier, protesters held a street party in front of the Palace Pier where they danced to music and held banners bearing anti-war slogans. Jane Blackson, 30, who took her daughter, Lala, four, to the protest said: “I think it’s important that we tell our children what is going on, that there are kids in other countries that are being bombed.” Protesters then marched through the main shopping streets shouting over loud speakers and headed for the factory to the north of the city. Piano teacher Sarah Nunn, 44, from Chichester, said she regularly attended anti-war protests. She said: “We really want to raise awareness of the fact EDO is based in the city which a lot of people have no idea about.” http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/sussex/8032579.stm
And what the bBC doesn’t tell you about the above anti-war protesters: Activists have created an “anti-militarist” map of Brighton pinpointing more than 30 banks and businesses, including the city’s American Express building, police stations and several McDonald’s restaurants. Organisers have been criticised by Sussex Police for refusing to reveal exact details of the protest including how many people were expected and the protest route… Earlier protesters held a street party in front of the Palace Pier where they danced to music and held banners bearing anti-war slogans. Many of them wearing black masks, beat drums and chanted at police who were forced to close part of the seafront road. http://www.pressassociation.com/component/pafeeds/2009/05/04/anti_war_protesters_climb_onto_roof?camefrom=news I wonder if anybody from the bBC can explain how police stations, McDonalds and various banks can be deemed ‘Warlike’?

The Baroness Uddin story is still the dog that just won’t bark at the BBC.
Covered on Sky, in the Guardian, Telegraph, Sun, Times and LabourHome, the tale of Britain’s first Muslim peer (Labour) and her “irregularities” over expenses still seems to have created only tumbleweed (as Martin put it yesterday) in Aunty‘s news studios and website.

Further to my last post about how the bBC glorifies the so called anti war protesters as not only righteous but peaceful. Here is what the Brighton Argus has to say on the subject 12.00 – Cycling protesters halt traffic Protesters have brought traffic to a standstill by riding continuously around the Palace Pier roundabout. 1pm – Protesters climb scaffolding at bank
ANTI-CAPITALIST campaigners have climbed scaffolding on a bank. Three men climbed the scaffolding to try and hang a banner on the North Street branch. Police appear to have arrested some of the men trying to climb the scaffolding. Then men are believed to have tried to drag the officers back into the crowd with a scuffle ensuing. 1.05pm – Paintbombs thrown at campaign targets DEMONSTRATORS have thrown bombs of red paint at capitalist and military targets. Barlcays Bank in North Street was splattered in paint after one of the paint bombs was hurled from the increasingly aggressive crowd. Now a second paint bomb has been thrown at the Army Surplus store in Queen’s Road.
1.40pm – There are now clashes between police and protesters outside McDonald’s in London Road. Police have sealed off the road and some of the protesters appear to be trying to make their way to The Level. On Twitter, Dan Garland reports that missiles have been thrown at the fast food chain, and police officers have moved in with riot shields to protect the building. 1.45pm – Protesters have been rocking a police van outside McDonald’s. A line of police with batons drawn are defending the restaurant. A group of protesters have peeled off down a side street and set off up Ditchling Road. 2.30pm – There are unconfirmed reports white paint has been thrown at a CCTV van in Preston Park. 3.30pm – Protesters are using wheelie bins as battering rams to try and break down the police line. 3.45pm – Police have confirmed a woman was injured after being hit in the face with a missile. 4.30pm – Police officers are guarding EDO’s factory, but protesters have not taken their campaign to the site. Around a dozen police officers are guarding the site, but none of the protesters demonstrating in the city centre have yet broken away to the factory 4.50pm – Police “preparing for riot” at police station Police have closed the road and set up a wall of riot sheilds outside the police station in John Street. 5.15pm – Protesters set off flares at pier Smash EDO campaigners have been setting off bright red flares in the street, next to Brighton Pier. 5.30pm – Protesters are marching along the seafront, throwing bottles and cans. 5.50pm – Protestors dance on pier roof as police back off. Police have stepped back to avoid confrontation with protesters. Around 40 people are on top of the roof of the Beach House Cafe, chanting “Who’s streets? Our streets”. Some people are smashing lighbulbs on the pier chip shop, but agression and violence seems to be subsiding. http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/4340279.Liveblog__Brighton_Smash_EDO_protest/

To the BBC, these people hold approved thoughts, so the Beeboids will take great care about the way they report this. People like me, though, are fit for ridicule and insult by Beeboids, and presented as haters and extremists.

As of not very long ago, it looks like the comment system will only allow Google accounts and Open ID (whatever that is). No anonymous or filled-in names.
Was that a deliberate shift in policy, or did somebody accidentally hit the button?

The wikipedia entry once gave him credit, but doesn’t any more.

Somebody from Spain was phoning in to the World Service “Europe Today” just now talking about how domestic policies are at least as responsible for Spain’s current economic woes as the global problem.
Jane Blackson, 30, who took her daughter, Lala, four, to the protest said: “I think it’s important that we tell our children what is going on, that there are kids in other countries that are being bombed.”
Protesters then marched through the main shopping streets shouting over loud speakers and headed for the factory to the north of the city. Piano teacher Sarah Nunn, 44, from Chichester, said she regularly attended anti-war protests. She said: “We really want to raise awareness of the fact EDO is based in the city which a lot of people have no idea about.”
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/sussex/8032579.stm
And what the bBC doesn’t tell you about the above anti-war protesters:
Activists have created an “anti-militarist” map of Brighton pinpointing more than 30 banks and businesses, including the city’s American Express building, police stations and several McDonald’s restaurants.

I wonder if anybody from the bBC can explain how police stations, McDonalds and various banks can be deemed ‘Warlike’?

The Baroness Uddin story is still the dog that just won’t bark at the BBC.
Covered on Sky, in the Guardian, Telegraph, Sun, Times and LabourHome, the tale of Britain’s first Muslim peer (Labour) and her “irregularities” over expenses still seems to have created only tumbleweed (as Martin put it yesterday) in Aunty‘s news studios and website.
“Is it cos I is Muslim?”

“you are all a bunch of wingnuts for complaining about” the Beeb.
Well if you like the BBC so much – you pay for it – why should I subsidize your viewing?
I have heard this argument over and over again – but I never get an answer – so Biodegradable Ghost please answer the question.

Further to my last post about how the bBC glorifies the so called anti war protesters as not only righteous but peaceful.
Here is what the Brighton Argus has to say on the subject
12.00 – Cycling protesters halt traffic
Protesters have brought traffic to a standstill by riding continuously around the Palace Pier roundabout.
1.05pm – Paintbombs thrown at campaign targets
DEMONSTRATORS have thrown bombs of red paint at capitalist and military targets.
Around a dozen police officers are guarding the site, but none of the protesters demonstrating in the city centre have yet broken away to the factory
4.50pm – Police “preparing for riot” at police station Police have closed the road and set up a wall of riot sheilds outside the police station in John Street.

To the BBC, these people hold approved thoughts, so the Beeboids will take great care about the way they report this. People like me, though, are fit for ridicule and insult by Beeboids, and presented as haters and extremists.

Netanyahu heads for collision with Obama administrationOne quote immediately stands out:
“DEBKAfile’s Washington sources report that their host is fired up to be the first US president in decades of close friendship and cooperation to clash openly with Israel“
Barry really doesnt have a clue , does he?
