THE DHIMMI BROADCASTING CORPORATION

Wonder what your thoughts are on the decision by the BBC to appoint a Muslim as head of it’s religious programming? The post – considered one of the most influential religious roles in the country – has gone to Aaqil Ahmed. What with having a Sikh producing its most popular and longrunning religious programme, Songs of Praise, the BBC seems determined to marginalise Christians.

    It is going TOO FAR!
    This is anti-democratic.

This is just the last piece of the Jigsaw in the corporation’s move towards Islamic broadcasting. The Mohammadan will find his job easy. We already know that most al-BBC reporters head over to Al-Jazeera before retirement.

Already Al-BBC pumps out frequent propaganda: today’s exhibit telling us that the only way forward is to submit to Allah and his laws:

Islamic finance is the answer to our ills:

Just how much uproar would there be if the shoe was on the other foot? Consider a Christian placed in charge of a long running Muslim religious service? There would be rioting in the streets.

He’s right – however small or off-centre a minority is within a given topic area it’s only proper that the BBC should have that minority in charge of that kind of programme. It adds diversity and perspective, and we ought to respect all ranges of opinion, okay?

    So we need:

    a post-op transsexual presenting Woman’s Hour.

a paraplegic Goth tiddlywinks layer heading up Match of the Day.

a Creationist controlling the BBC’s science output

a BNP member commenting on community affairs

and Nigel Farage editing the BBC’s European Union coverage.

We don’t need Moslem Brotherhood members commenting on Israel or Socialist Workers doing the economics coverage, as what would the difference be?

C’mon now, be honest now, who actually watches/listens to the miniscule religious output from the BBC anyway? It only has Songs Of Praise because the charter requires it to have some religious output.

Certainly not the christians I was bought up with, who sussed out the Beeb’s liberal/cultural relativism infested output DECADES ago.

Quite so – but then why are they bothering to produce ANY religious programmes at all? Almost no-one goes to church any more except perhaps Muslims. Yet the BBC tells us Lord Carey, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, has condemned the “culture of abuse” surrounding MPs’ expenses. Who gives a toss what he thinks?

The BBC love “multiculturalism” – with people of immigrant descent way, way, way “over represented” on camera. When boys or men are arrested for shootings, they never mention that these are immigrant descendants. The BBC has a system: If it doesn’t fit the multi-cultural, anti-British philosophy, simply leave out the salient facts. There is absolutely no reason on God’s earth for the BBC to exist and for these leeches to be supported, by law, by their “licence” fee. The BBC is surplus to requirements in media explosionn of this day and age

lol! more of a Holy Grail fan, I’d think. But they have to produce some religious output, it’s written in their charter. So it’s basically tokenism on the Beebs part really.

I suppose we have to regard this as a typical “well meaning”liberal left decision. ” Look how progressive we are. Look at me and marvel at my tolerance “
However able Aaqil Ahmed is ,he if he is a devout Moslem, he will be absolutly certain that he and his fellow Moslems are in possession of the one and only truth, that all other beliefs are heretical and have no validity.
Between Christianity and Islam there can be no doctrinal common ground. There never has been and all sincere adherents of either faith know this.
We can live together in tolerance perhaps.
The real target and the real loser is the Church of England. The Catholics and nonconformists will survive and thrive but I suspect the BBC, in common with the liberal left has always had the C of E in it’s sights.
Not primarily for religious reasons but because it is identified with the English tradition and way of life.
The self loathing of the English intelligentsia knows no limits

    Martin,

The Broadcasting Act of 1990 brought in the obligation that public service broadcasters have to give a “sufficient amount of time” to religious and children's programming. That's pretty much it.

The BBC' Charter & Agreement these days requires only that if they do religious programming they have to reflect all the different religions in the UK. They're required to do some, but they can make it as multi-culti as they please.

“Regardless of the outrageous campaigns, the BBC did not buckle and appointed Ahmed. And with good reason too. Religion has become an immensely more interesting and controversial topic since the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and Ahmed has tried to chart a course for Islam through that minefield by using current affairs as a hook. The acclaimed series Inside the Mind of the Suicide Bomber is a case in point.

But the tying of religion to current affairs, sexy as it may be, also has its critics.”

It’s clearly designed – like most BBC decisions – to be provocative.

Given than Muslims only represent 2% of the UK population, this is just part of a current BBC obsession with favoured minorities and Islam in particular.

I cannot wait to see how the BBC will now portrays Jews. Look out for hours of programming on BBC 2 and BBC 4 promoting Islam, Sharia, Iran, the evils of Zionism, How to wear your burqua.

I don’t hold out too much hope that Cameron will dismantle the BBC’s Evil Empire. He’ll cosy up with them and they will carry on greedily stealing our money and ignoring the views of the telly tax mugs.

    Martin,

If the BBC’s Faith Diary can have regular entries about the spread of atheism, the Beeboids ought to be able to find time for a religion with hundreds of thousands of adherents in the UK.

As much as Justin Webb likes to stump for atheism, there are probably more people on record as being Jedi in the UK than there are atheists.

Well I’m sorry Scot but it does offend me – The dominant religion in the UK is still Christianity (although probably not withing your small circle of friends).

I looked out a Easter for programmes that celebrated my faith, but found none. It is only once a year, not a lot to ask for especially in a Christian country.

Now if ever there is a programme shown about Jesus – it has to be “controversial” or “challenging”. Well I do not want to be challenged I want the BBC to recognise that for Christians, Easter is a special time of the year and not a time to make their own slant on the gospels.

What is wrong with having a Christian in charge of religious broadcasting in the UK – do you imaging that the Egyptian public broadcaster would have a Jew or Christian in charge of theirs.

I respect other peoples point of view, but it really bugs me how people can undermine the state religion but are quite happy to tolerate the most anti-christian voices, when they dare not do the same for their beloved Muslims.

No surprise here; the BBC’s agenda against Christianity has long been evident (anyone recall the risible Bonekickers, among others?). As a practicing Christian not only do I frequently find their programming to be patronising, but usually completely innacurate and brimming with undisguised hatred.

And for those of you inclined to wonder why this appointment is at all relevant, given the undeniable influence Christianity has had, and indeed continues to have in shaping indigenous British culture, the appointment of a Muslim to head up its religious programming is a blatant and sinister attack on what many people hold extrememly dear.

“The BBC’s director-general Mark Thompson has said that religious broadcasting gives rise to more controversy in his job than any other subject. I am afraid he hasn’t seen anything yet.
On Monday, the Corporation announced that it has appointed a Muslim as head of religious broadcasting. This is not a joke, I can assure you.

Greg’s comments about Nazis is clearly designed to offend the many Jewish supporters of this site.

His vile comments reveal much about him. Like most of the Left and those that support the BBC’s Evil Empire, he is revealed as a bigot, slandering anyone that doesn’t share his opinion.

This trick was used extensively after Year Zero when Blair’s sovietised state began it’s mission to “destroy the forces of conservatism”. Anyone who criticised any of their bizarre policies became ostracised through the intellectual gulag they created for us. They were called homophobes or racists or worse. Name calling has been part and parcel of these little bullies since 1997 – in every walk of life from local government gauleiters to the set ups on Question Time.

Today, we see the results. They have all been rumbled. Labour placemen – from the Speaker to celebrity head teachers are all on the make. The government has been crushing our spirit with an average of six new laws a week since 1997, whilst breaking them themselves.

The BBC is up to it’s neck in abusing public trust, fiddling expenses, breaking their Charter at will, misusing public money on useless jollies and paying fines for repeated abuse with OUR money.

It’s time they were exposed, along with their fellow crooks in the House of Common criminals.

My family fought the Nazis both in the French Resistance and at Stalingrad. Greg, whoever he is represents a sickness in the heart of our society and a collapse of respect for others with whom he disagrees.

“The BBC has a new religious programming director, and he is a Muslim. An undercurrent of not-quite-articulated consternation seems to flow through many Brit media accounts of this “first,” most of which exempts the new director, Aaqil Ahmed, himself. This main line of argument sticks to the plain statistical fact that Britain remains a Christian country, with 70 percent of the population C of E, and only 2 to 3 percent Muslim — so why should the Beeb put such a post in Muslim hands? The main exception is a piece titled “Hire a Muslim, Just Not This Muslim,” but even this piece is a little oblique as to Ahmed’s career. That is, what has Ahmed actually done at his previous post directing religous programming at Britain’s Channel 4?

“Just for fun I googled Ahmed’s name plus the word “sharia” and actually came up with a Channel 4 series called, on the level, ‘Sharia TV’.”
