OT but the open thread is miles away so I'll put it here. Good link via EURef to an item from Radio 5 and well worth listening to. The BNP leader, Nick Griffin suggests to the BBC interviewer that it might be worth discussing a subject other than race and immigration so the interviewer asks – such as? Griffin immediately states his opinion that 'global warming' is a hoax propagated by the government to exert control over our lives – and the interviewer is flummoxed.

Update: on BBC and Mr. Crowe –

BBC Radio 5 (soon after 11 am), seems to have realised that even it cannot defend the indefensible 'leftist', Mr. Crowe; even V. Derbyshire was exasperated with him. (Maybe she usually travels by Tube.)

    Yes, 'eureferendum's:

    "The BBC mindset"

    -is an excellent piece.

This concluding comment there is right about the BBC's political mindset:

.."in due course, once they [the BBC] have absorbed what Griffin had to say [about global warming hoax], they will make the link with the rest of the 'climate sceptics'. We will forever be associated with Nick Griffin and the BNP, the Holocaust denier, reinforcing the BBC's image of those who dare to depart from the orthodoxy."

They certainly will, George R and, indeed, they already have. On election night, Polly Toynbee made the connection between 'fascists, climate change deniers and Gypsy haters' while Emily Maitlis smiled smugly on.

Great link Allan. The BBC have a real problem in thinking out of the box don't they?

I just got a reply from a complaint I made to the BBC from months ago. Standard BBC bollocks about climate change.

    Polly forgot to claim that
we MMGW deniers also eat babies and return library books three days late – just for fun.
    Oh the humanity!

Its about time Londoners struck at these blackmailing tube drivers, especially the cowardly majority that abstain from strike ballots knowing they will still pocket any gains. Everyone running a business in London should put a card in their window for two days saying "Service for London tube drivers suspended"

Better still take a leaf out of Reagans book with his air traffic controllers – sack the lot and start over. I mean how difficult can it be to drive a train?

It amazes me that the underground hasnt been clasified as a critical service (like the emergency services and police).

A few mates work for TFL and they love the union. They know that everytime the Union bangs on about safety they are really banging on about increasing union numbers, which then increases the unions power.

Don't expect the BBC to complain, unless it upsets Michelle Obama's London holiday.

I think it was more of a case where Johnson went second, so "Other Projects" had a couple of statements from Crowe to throw back at him. I can't say he'd do the same if Boris had gone first, of course.

Although, he didn't challenge Crowe at all when he claimed that the union's concerns weren't about disciplining two drivers, but then said their main gripe was disciplinary measures.

I heard him start to interrupt Boris several times, but mostly held back and let him get his points across.

Some people at the BBC aren't convinced about climate change, see this.

Richard Cable has been highlighted here previously as an unusually sane voice on the BBC. He actually gives the impression he knows something about the subject. Which is why his blog is stuck in some dark recess of the BBC website, away from public glare like an embarrassing aunt.

He will need to be careful lest Polly Toynbee declare him a climate change denier and comparable to the BNP.

Interesting that the BBC chappie mentions this dispute as a personal clash of wills between Boris and Crowe.

Would certainly explain the lack of logic in this dispute.

Give us a clue David, where's the bias?

Even your commentataors here seem more interested in talking about other subjects.
