In Egypt, seven Coptic Christians were murdered yesterday by a Muslim gunman as they filed out of a midnight mass in the southern town of Nag Hamadi. In Pakistan, more than 100 Christian homes were ransacked by a Muslim mob last July in the village of Bahmaniwala. In Iraq that same month, seven Christian churches were bombed in Baghdad and Mosul in the space of three days.
Such atrocities—and there are scores of other examples—are grim reminders that when it comes to persecution, few groups have suffered as grievously as Christians in Muslim lands. Fewer still have suffered with such little attention paid. Now a new report from the non-profit ministry, Open Doors USA, shines a light on the scale of oppression.

What was the BBC’s justification for his dismissal? Did he receive a salary from the Angels?
My dead-tree copy of the Telegraph (so no link sorry) said that he was an “unofficial spokesman” which implies that no money changed hands. But the BBC would argue that you can ‘represent’ a third party without a salary. Under contract law they’d be within their rights to discipline him – he’d have to show that his contract was unduly and unfairly restrictive or that he’d received previous tacit consent from his employers to act in this way.
Yet another Newsnight that appeared to be a Tory free zone. But as usual St Vince Cable was on to give ‘us’ his expert views on the banks.
I guess time for yet another complaint to the drugged up arseholes at the BBC.

And yesterday’s Daily Politics was Tory-free, although Andrew Neil had a good go at Peter Hain about the Govt. failing to predict the cold weather. Hain said they took the advice of the Met Office. Andrew Neil said ” I predicted a cold winter months ago because I ignore Met Office predictions ” !

Have to laugh at the idea of getting rid of the BBC trust and replacing it with a board and external regulator. What a waste of time, any external regulator will simply be staffed with more ex BBC luvvies.
Simply scrap the TV tax and let Ofcom deal with the BBC.
