The BBC’s complaints unit have rapped the knuckles of BBC producers who decided to give the execrable Bono and his band U2 acres of free publicity at the launch of their latest boring album back in February. But what about removing the hundreds of free plugs on the BBC website? The admiring boys and girls at the corporation chart his and the band’s every move, short of when they go to the lavatory. He repays them by spouting foul-mouthed abuse on air. But no matter, Bono ticks every box for BBC sainthood; he’s a lefty, he hates Britain, and he believes Africa’s salvation is through bucketloads of aid from ‘climate change’ supporting NGOs.

What is it with b***dy U2 and the political class ? I mean they put out a couple of decent albums (for the time) in the late 1980’s but since then artistically they have done nothing new since then. I don’t think I have ever come across anyone personally who likes Bono yet the bloke is untouchable and world leaders give him the time of day.
They haven’t put out anything decent since the mid 80’s, around the time that Bono thinks God discovered him.
The same Bono who along with his mate Geldof has done so much for Africa – well provided the corrupt leaders with the means to buy luxury vehicles and arms.

I never could stand U2. But it speaks volumes about the age range, emotional maturity, and cultural sophistication of your average Beeboid producer and mid-level mandarin that there are so many U2 fans at Broadcasting House that they didn’t give a damn how it looked to promote the band so much. Every producer and presenter couldn’t wait to have the group on their own shows, and they all got their turns, didn’t they? Not because U2 is so mega-important that they deserved the coverage, like politicians making the rounds to discuss a major issue, but because the Beeboid fans wanted them on all day long.
Blinded by their own personal biases once again, the Beeboids carry on as if nothing’s wrong.

The TV Licensing Authority said: “Rules for watching online are the same as watching any other way. If someone watches without a licence they risk a fine of up to £1,000.”
Is this true?
Correct that any device that is used or capable of watching live television (not recorded) needs a TV licence. In theory even if you don’t own a TV but owned a compuet at home with broadband the human scum that they send round to your house could ask if you watch live TV (not even BBC remember as Sky do live TV) and then do you for not having a TV licence.
This also applies to mobile phones that can receive live TV you need (if you watch) a TV licence if you don’t have one already.
That’s another reason why the BBC must be destroyed, the BBC has already talked about extending the authority of the TV licence as many devices (even cars) can now get live TV.
However, in the article Hannan didn’t say Live TV he just said he watched TV, if that’s on say the iplayer you don’t need a TV licence. YET.
We learn from the cited story that “the Radio 1 leadership team have reminded executive producers and presenters about the issues to be considered in relation to judgments about undue prominence, and the distinction between the reporting of new artistic work and commercial promotion,” and . . er . . that’s it! No fines, no sackings, no anything – hardly even a rap over the knuckles – just the implication that the next time Bono is seeking a bit of free publicity be a bit subtle.
Well, they are ‘unique’.

air, this exercise was “unscientific,” the combination of scientists having

them to “prove it” was a worthwhile contribution to our Copenhagen

Copenhagen conference, Newsnight heard from a number of scientists and
spokespeople who are very sceptical about man made global warming. For
example Professor Fred Singer (University of Virginia), Dr Benny Peiser

Communications Director for the US Senate Environment Committee) and
Senator Jim Inhofe (the senior Republican on the Senate Environment

Woo-hoo.As there seems little point in engaging further with this pointless job-creation scheme that is ‘complaints’, I am pondering where next a licence fee/tax payer goes if not satisfied with a clear fob-off.
Very little of what is written there ‘adds up’… still. Amongst other things, if you present a flawed case and people are convinced by it, isn’t that fraud?
Also setting up sceptic strawmen in some ‘us’ vs. deniers is too predictable. I was challenging the validity of the ‘experiment’ by these ‘scientists’.
I somehow doubt we will see the BBC bringing in representatives of views they do not share to ‘try and convince’ audiences with rigged results.
Don’t worry your complaint will end up in the bin along with the empty jars of Vaseline, used condoms and discarded Cocaine wraps.
