Question Time tonight comes from Basildon and the panel will feature Culture Secretary Little Ben Bradshaw, Lord Lawson, Baroness Tonge, The Sun journalist Jane Moore and Director of the Centre for Social Cohesion Douglas Murray. Early indications had been that Amanda Platell was on the programme but this no longer appears to be the case.
Those wanting to get an idea of the political feel of the area – these are the General Election results in the 1997 Basildon constituency (Angela Smith, Lab).
For those who wish to take part in the B-BBC Buzzword Bingo, we will be playing by the “Chilcot Enquiry Rules” meaning that “Brown” won’t be appearing on your card for as long as possible, and getting “Blair“, “Liar” and “45 Minutes” on a diagonal line is an instant win. The usual prizes will be awarded.
As usual, the live chat will begin here at 22:35 UK time. Please come and join us!
Do they ever visit a Tory consitutentcy?

I think that this constituency isn’t too bad compared with other places they’ve been recently, Ryan. Its always been a swing seat, and usually held by the party in power – so a random audience off the street at any stage over the last couple of decades here would have reflected the national mood at the time.
Of course, it won’t be a random audience off the street as we know, but in 6 months time this will be almost certainly have become a Tory seat.

There are no Tory constituencies that are representative of the COuntry as a whole. How can there be when there is a Labour government made up of selfless Labour politiciand and the Tory party is full of toffs and old-Etonians. Maybe QT will do a show from Windsor and Eton…

I hope we’re not going to get lots on Chillcot tonight. The war is all that is ever talked about.
