Did you see that the New York-based American Jewish Committee has blasted the BBC on Sunday for airing an accusation that Jews around the world assist in supposed Mossad assassinations.
The AJC said in a statement that it was “dismayed that a guest on BBC Radio 4 was allowed to state unchallenged” that the Mossad relies on Jews for assassination plots. “This baseless accusation crosses every red line between legitimate public discussion and bigoted fear-mongering,” said AJC executive director David Harris. “In less than a minute, the BBC has cast a shadow on the lives of Jews worldwide.” BBC Radio 4’s PM program interviewed Gordon Thomas, author of Gideon’s Spies, a book about the Mossad, about the January 20 assassination of Hamas military commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai.
David, you must repeat the following to yourself every day:
Criticism of Israel is never a reflection on Jews worldwide. Criticism of Israel is never projected onto Jews worldwide. Criticism of Israel never has any effect on Jews worldwide. Cricitism of Israel never encourages anti-Semitism anywhere. Suggesting otherwise stifles debate about legitimate criticism of Israel. Seculam seculorum, amen.

For somebody that is usually quite perceptive and intelligent, that is an incredibly trite, and almost idiotic thing to write. Sounds like you don’t understand the value of propaganda.
I never noticed you being so dismissive when criticism was applied to USA vis a vis Bush, and the stupid Americans who voted him in. Do you really think that this kind of reporting didn’t affect the average person’s thinking?
It’s only truly enlightened educated and intelligent people who are not taken in my criticism of Israel, and there are too few of those in the world. You are clearly not a Jew otherwise you would definitely be worried by the accusation that an unknown amount of Jews around the world assist the Mossad in performing their ‘dirty deeds’. Muslim regimes around the world have used anti-Israel rhetoric to brainwash their subjects and launch thousands of attacks worldwide against Jews. Before Israel existed, the way to create anti-Semites was perpetuating the myth that Jews used the blood of Christian children to make their unleavened bread.
If there was no value in propaganda, why would the BBC et al pursue their bias?

I was being sarcastic. You had better read some of my previous comments about the BBC’s demonization of Israel, and the anti-Jewish sentiment to which it gives succor (beginning with my comment on sue’s “I’m Sorry, I Haven’t a Cleudo” post) before saying anything else. After you’ve done that, you might want to rethink everything you’ve just written, then come back and try again.

I must admit David I was really surprised when I read your post as it seems entirely unlike you. Please accept my apology for not knowing it was sarcasm O:-)

The BBC seem unable to distinguish between slander and hearsay and facts where its political enemies are concerned.
A multi billion pound media giant unable to fact check even the most basic facts, the passport photos showing the alleged killers wearing glasses, does anyone realy believe that Mossad would make such a simple error? Mossad has years of experience in espionage and intelligence, such childish errors simply cannot happen.

I’ve been listening to the coverage of this on BBC World Service:
Riots over Israeli claim to West Bank heritage sites
The BBC are acually playing the Palestinians’ game of attempting to claim that the Jews are interlopers and the Palestinians are the true, indegenous people of israel
“the Hebron shrine is an important site for both Jews and Muslims.”
This is the basis of the BBC’s spin; that sites that were holy to Jews for thousands of years before Mohammed was even an itch in his father’s crotch, are all of a sudden “important site for both Jews and Muslims”.
The BBC then begons to give us a little detail about these sites:
“On Sunday Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Tomb of the Patriarchs, known to Muslims as the al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, and the site of Rachel’s tomb in Bethlehem would now be included in a $107m (£69m) restoration plan.”
“The Tomb of the Patriarchs is where the Bible says Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were buried along with three of their wives”
Excuse me, but weren’t Abraham, Isaac and Jacob Jews?!
“The Tomb of Rachel – a shrine to the Biblical matriarch – has also been a source of controversy.
Some Muslims say it is the site of a mosque.”
That’ll be the Jewish Biblical matriarch Rachel, and of course the Muslims built a mosque on top of it, that’s what they do.
Of course the only opinions voiced are from the UN and…
“Many of the rioters were students from a school in the southern part of the city.”
Yeah, let’s hear it from the rioters!
“The occupation has devoted all of its efforts to steal Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, Hebron and Palestinian cities to change their Arab and Islamic character to prove the country is Jewish,” the Palestinian Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Hussein told the Palestinian Maan news agency.”
“… to prove the country is Jewish”
The BBC, and their terrorist pals: Denying that Israel was ever Jewish!

I think I posted this link on the tail of another thread.
It’s from Honest Reporting, and there’s a bit about Jeremy Bowen for good measure.
I have had a message about this series of emotive snaps taken by the International Committee of the Red Cross and posted on the web by the BBC as a reminder of Israeli opression, under the heading ” In Pictures: Life in the Shadow of Israeli Settlements.”
A blogger has posted an article on his blog myrightworld in which he tells us that the photographers are named Jean Chung and Laurent Meirehans. I couldn’t see how he knew this, or I couldn’t find their names on the BBC website, but never mind. He is wondering how selective these images are, and what they’re actually doing on the BBC website, not to mention what intention did the International Committee of the red Cross or the photographers have in submitting them for publication?

Those ICRC commissioned photos are a real tear jerker.
It’s to easy to take “powerful” photos of people suffering – specially when they’re Palestinians cowering under the Looming Shadow® of The Occupier™ and the ICRC are paying you loads o’ money.
I bet the photographer, whoever he or she was stayed in a nice hotel in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.

Can you imagine the BBC allowing anyone air time to allege that all Muslims supported the Iranian secret service or Hamas? Not a chance as they would not want to ‘provoke an anti-Islam backlash’ but they seem happy to allow air time to someone to claim that most Jews are active supporters of the hated Mossad thus risking provoking an anti-Semitic backlash.

Not seen on BBC. Could you imagine the whine if Jews were forcing Moslems out?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/sweden/7278532/Jews-leave-Swedish-city-after-sharp-rise-in-anti-Semitic-hate-crimes.html
Jews leave Swedish city after sharp rise in anti-Semitic hate crimes Sweden’s reputation as a tolerant, liberal nation is being threatened by a steep rise in anti-Semitic hate crimes in the city of Malmo. In 2009, a chapel serving the city’s 700-strong Jewish community was set ablaze. Jewish cemeteries were repeatedly desecrated, worshippers were abused on their way home from prayer, and “Hitler” was mockingly chanted in the streets by masked men…
“This new hatred comes from Muslim immigrants. The Jewish people are afraid now.”
Malmo’s Jews, however, do not just point the finger at bigoted Muslims and their fellow racists in the country’s Neo-Nazi fringe. They also accuse Ilmar Reepalu, the Left-wing mayor who has been in power for 15 years, of failing to protect them.

Rather than protect them from violence, the mayor suggested that they brought it on themselves by not condemning Israel. The BBC knows that anti-Israel anger can lead to anti-Jew violence everywhere, but don’t see it as a problem worth much attention.
Even in a report about anti-Jewish violence in the UK, the Beeboids have to get a word in about anti-Muslim violence. Just for balance, you understand.
Some police forces calculate local trends for religiously motivated incidents, but there are no national figures for hate crimes against any specific group, such as Jews or Muslims.
Last month, researchers at Exeter University called on Muslims to start counting their own figures in a similar fashion to the CST, saying there was evidence of an under-reporting of anti-Muslim hatred.
So where are the BBC programmes encouraging tolerance of Jews? Any chance of a ‘Don’t Say Boo Just ‘Cos I’m A Jew’? A show about a troubled British girl from a council estate finding an inspiring haven amongst the Lubavitch? A documentary about Jewish contributions to science in Europe? No, this kind of hatred is not worth their time. It’s just Jews playing the victim again, yeah.

Exeter University has a massive Saudi funded Islamic studies department so I’m reliably told. Not a lot of people kow that so I’m reliably informed.
Notorious anti-Israel historian Ilan Pappe has a hisory chair or professorship there. Exeter aint the quiet monocultural backwater it’s thought to be. So I’m told.
