Sky is carrying the leaders’ debate tonight.

BBC has REFUSED to carry it on any of their main stations.

Hey BBC – Thanks for upholding the public service ethos !

Don’t you think that Watchdog is much more important? The BBC does…

Beeboids have been setting up the “EU thinks Tories are bad” line for almost 24 hours now (sounds like a Mandy dictated editorial line). I supect that whatever happens this is how it will be “reported”.

Shows how out of touche the Beeboids are with the people who pay their wages and expenses – most people think the EU is a bad thing.

Sky seems to have a studion audience that does’t look anything like a standard BBC audience.  Has Sky found an ‘unrepresentative’ part of the population – or does the BBC misrepresent in line with its’ own agenda?

    • Jack Bauer says:

Oh you mean like how Rupert Murdoch began Fox News by appealing to that niche audience ignored by the other networks?

The at least 50% of the population that called themselves conservatives?

Actually the selection of these rather pointless ‘audiences’ for all remain a bit of a mystery.

However if there are not some eggs and shoes amongst the Dimbelby groupies who make it past the BBC selection team (maybe that wee lad form the blog mods has a new role?) it will be a surprise.

Pension £59 – They stopped the link with earnings, if I remember correctly.

Death tax, let families have the money they worked hard for and earned!

You need to ask the question, do you honestly beleive that if someone works hard and earns a few million quid that when they die they should loose a percentage of that? Is they fair? Does they make people want to earn and save for they family?

Lefties and anyone who hates the rich all think inheritance tax is fair. What many of these morons dont realise is that if you happen to own a standard property in London then you too will be caught out by this insidious little tax!

  5. Will Grace says:

Clegg is arguing for a Tax on energy because the pension is low? Gordo kill the peisions tax breaks, that killed private pensions.

Dave isn’t going to tell or remind Gordo that he has been incharge for all this?

Also what is all this winter fuel BS? We have global warming?

We have global warming? Clearly you don’t grasp the concept at all. The basis is that climate fluctuates up AND down, but the general trend (moving average) is that temperatures are rising.

Except in the last 10 years. And all that long bit after the Medieval Warm Period. And all the other bits where it isn’t either.

  6. Craig says:

On Radio 4, Conservative supporter Matthew Parris said Clegg did well but Cameron did better & that the ordinary voter would think Cameron won. Lib Dem supporter Miranda Green said Clegg did very well but  pointed out the sense of Cameron’s strategy of presenting himself as the outsider; Labour supporter Lance Price said Brown started well but grew patchy as the debate went on. This seems fair enough.

Before them though – and in the immediate wake of the debate – the BBC’s extremely biased chief political correspondent Norman Smith shamelessly called it for Clegg, saying that he frequently “controlled and dominated” the debate and “often got the better of the arguments” (especially over immigration). Smith added “the Clegg bandwagon is still rolling.” He said nothing nice about David Cameron of course.

Yes,  Norman Smith really was pushing Cle3gg.  He seemed to think the top moment was Clegg’s attack on the Tories allying with “nutters” in Europe.

And surprise surprise – the Radio 4 10pm news led with that clip.

Omitting the brusque “Get Real” jibe at Clegg by Brown,  which I felt was the most significant dig all night.

    • John Anderson says:

It really was ridiculous to say that Clegg won on immigration.   Clegg was rumbled on amnesty,  Brown stuck it to him on that.

  7. David Preiser (USA) says:

I missed the debate due to work, but have been watching the follow-up on Sky.  I’ve never actually watched anything on Sky before, and it’s something of a shock to see somebody giving these Labour guys such a hard time.  The way they’re handling these different party figures arguing in the reception area now is great, much less filtered and directed than I’ve seen on the BBC.

To anyone sceptical about climate change: Nick Clegg called you a nutter.

  9. Mailman says:

The thing about Clegg is this…he is comfortable in the knowledge that his policies will never see the light of day because he will NEVER be the PM. He can say and do what ever he likes because he will never be in a position to do anything about anything.

I too was watching Sky News for the first time last week and was geniunly surprised that only ONE poll of dozens had the Lib Dems in front…but of course that one poll is the ONE poll the BBC has been going on about all week long!

Whats even more worrying about Al Beebs coverage of that one poll is the fact that if the Lib Dems win, that ONE poll had the Tories second which means that Labour wouldnt event be the opposition! Now, dont you think THAT is the story from that ONE poll? That the ruling Government for the last 13 years cant even make it in as the official opposition party!

Tell you what, if that happens I wonder how many BBC reporters will commit suicide?

Oh no, they’ll be in their element, giving full vent with impunity to their ‘righteous anger’ on behalf of ‘the people’ while a Cameron Govt tries endlessly to placate these over-grown spoilt brats.  Whoever wins this election, Britain loses.

  10. George R says:

How confident can the BBC people be in the BBC putting out a really politically impartial TV debate next Thursday, not some typically biased ‘Question Time’ presentation where even the audience is not a typical cross-section of British society, but over-represents young people, ethnic minorities and ‘left’ political influence?
