FOOC featured Jeremy Bowen’s cosy chat with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Although we were told that Syria was a bit of a police state, the impression given was that Bowen’s sympathy lay with
‘friendly and charming’ al-Assad, whose country had suffered the “trauma of creating Israel.”
“The Turks never attacked Israel, never smuggled weapons, never did anything harmful to Israel. They only worked for peace,” he said.”
In the web article there’s a bullet-pointed ‘time line’ relating to Syria. It starts “1967 Israel seizes Golan Heights from Syria.”
Before the six day war Syria’s gun emplacements loomed above the kibbutzim located below the Golan Heights, causing the inhabitants to be on constant alert. Unprovoked, Syria did open fire, causing damage and fear. The Golan Heights are a strategic defensive necessity to Israel while Syria is a hostile neighbour.
The time-line should have read: “1967: Syria attacks Israel, starts a war and loses Golan Heights.”
So put that in your time-line BBC, and smoke it.
Anyone who remembers the 1967 war realises the strategic significance of the Golan Heights as an artillery – let alone rocket – site. It is entirely disingenuous of Bowen to fail to point that out.
His report on From Our Own Correspondent was a disgrace, cringing to a dictator, entirely anti-Israel. So what’s new ?

Hear, Hear. The only saving grace is that everyone eventually dies; so Bowen won’t always be there feeding poison to the masses via the vile entity which is the bbc. The worry is that the bbc is training others to take his place once he’s gone.

So… yet again the BBC is unable to even collect and line up simple, pertinent facts without adding that ‘special something’ in the edit suite to ensure ‘the narrative’ continues on its seamless manner.
What, exactly, are the Charter, Trust, etc, for again?
One looks forward to equally revisionist versions of other historical conflicts with curious selectivity in start or end points.
‘Maggie attacks innocent Argentinians who are innocently now on Las Malvinas’?
‘South Korean ship rams North Korean torpedo – sub crew all safe. World agrees not to make a fuss’?

‘Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you.’
Possibly useful in a Sith Lord. Not so great for a national broadcaster’s volatile (the region, not… mind you..) regional editor, IMHO.

What the BBC fail to mention as always is that Syria has been an essential ingredient in the attacks against Israel.
Syria has been a hostile nation to Israel from the foundation of the state and to this day the aim of Syria is an eventual war of destruction and agression.
Everything Syria does and has ever done is based on the creed of destroying the state of Israel, no peace treaty and no giving up the Golan will change that, Syria wants revenge and the Golan is the essential ingredient to any attack. if israel lost the Golan or gave it away she is finished.
The BBC knows the strategy, aims and tactics that Syria will employ and they also know full well that Syria will use a peace treaty only to further its aim of destroying Israel. The very best israel can hope to achieve in any deal with Syria is a little more time before the storm.
The BBC knows the situation and knows the history yet to all intents and purposes they portray Syria and its gangster dictator leadership as more valid than democratic Israel.
Syria is a supporter of terror in the region to further its foreign policy, as a dictatorship it doesnt need to abide by the rules and ethics of a civilised democratic nation yet the BBC choose to see non of the clear evidence prefering to view events through the prism of their own prejudice.

Funny, Assad’s father kills 25000 fellow muslims in early 1970s to stop a rebellion, yet he considers Israel’s killing 9 so called peace activists breaking a legal embargo as a call to arms. Israel is a democracy, Syria kills its opposition.

Got there just before me.
BTW – you do mean “peace activists” surely.

Syria, Syria, was it not this nation that slaughtered the entire population of a town – Hama I think.
So we have Bowen sitting down and having a nice chat with yet another genocidal nation. What next – Turkey, that is guilty of two genocides in the last century. The Palis who slaughter their opponents while they are being treated in the ER room in a hospital. (Appropos of this, it does not surprise me that Palis wish to be treated in an Israeli hospital).
So what must Israel do to be loved by the BBC?

Interesting thought – when Iran finally fulfills the wet dreams of the BBC and its serried ranks of Israel haters by nuking Tel Aviv, wouldn’t it be poetic justice if Bowen were at ground zero?

That will never happen (Tel Aviv being nuked)

Don’t worry, anon. If it ever did, you’ll just say they deserved it. No big deal.

I happen to believe that the islamic axis ranged against Israel will in fact deploy nuclear warheads as and when they are able to build at least 10+. The start of the offensive will be an attempt to overwhelm the patriot batteries with conventional rockets which BTW Iran is building by the hundred and supplying to syria and Lebanon and then place an attack when the patriot batteries are weakest and most stretched. The plan calls for at least 200/300 medium range missiles with conventional warheads and about ten nuclear with major population centres the primary target.
The axis will hope that Israels very limited land area will mean utter devastation while the much larger land area of its enemies will mean a much higher chance of surviving the retaliation by the Israelis. Of course millions of muslims will die both in the attacks and the following retaliation however the islamists axis deems those killed as martyrs to the cause of islam and this is something the useful idiots in the BBC/west cannot grasp. To the islamist mindset the murder of millions is a great and noble deed, they love death as we love life ALTHOUGH the leaders of the islamist axis will already have very deep and secure bunkers so that they can survive, not for them the death of a martyr and you can bet the bunkers will be well stocked with all the luxuries.

Unfortunately whilst we may be enlightened, most BBC viewers take what the BBC says as unbiased truth.

Here is a perfect example of dhimmi Europe.
“On October 6, 1973, Syria and Egypt began the Yom Kippur War by staging a surprise attack against Israel (Arabs call it the “Ramadan War” or “October War” because Syria and Egypt attacked during Ramadan in the month of October). But despite the element of surprise, Egypt and Syria lost the war, and Israel continued to occupy the Golan Heights as part of the Israeli-occupied territories. In early 1976, the Lebanese civil war was going poorly for the Maronite Christians. Syria sent 40,000 troops into the country to prevent them from being overrun, but soon became embroiled in the Lebanese Civil War, beginning the 30 year Syrian presence in Lebanon. Over the following 15 years of civil war, Syria fought both for control over Lebanon, and as an attempt to undermine Israel in southern Lebanon, through extensive use of Lebanese allies as proxy fighters. Many see the Syrian Army’s presence in Lebanon as an occupation, especially following the end of the civil war in 1990, after the Syrian-sponsored Taif Agreement. Syria then remained in Lebanon until 2005, exerting a heavy-handed influence over Lebanese politics, that was deeply resented by many.”
[Oppresion, occupation, mass murder etc. Not a peep from Europe.]
“On October 5, 2003, Israel bombed a site near Damascus, claiming it was a terrorist training facility for members of Islamic Jihad. Islamic Jihad said the camp was not in use; Syria said the attack was on a civilian area. The Israeli action was condemned by European governments. The German Chancellor said it “cannot be accepted” and the French Foreign Ministry said “The Israeli operation… constituted an unacceptable violation of international law and sovereignty rules.” The Spanish UN Ambassador Inocencio Arias called it an attack of “extreme gravity” and “a clear violation of international law.”
[Nasty Isreal they really have been disproportiate.]

Afghan Christians Plead for Help as they are Exposed and Threatened with Execution
Published: Friday 18 June 2010
Country: AFGHANISTAN
Afghan Christians in exile are urging their fellow-Christians around the world to help stop the Afghan government from arresting and executing Afghan Christians. While international media and politicians are silent, within Afghanistan a dramatic anti-Christian furore has erupted, in which Afghan media and politicians alike are calling for the death of converts from Islam, in line with Islamic sharia law.

I dont know how this could be happening. Its worse then what happened with Iraqi Christians.
Any of this on the BBC?

I genuinely believe this is the most egregious and pathetic report I have ever seen by anyone on any subject (hence YOU MUST WATCH IT!):
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/10359600.stm
Of all the number of ways to report uncontroverted evidence of increased social and economic freedom in the West Bank the BBC manages to ‘blame’ it on the Israelis!!!
The closing remark is truly beyond parody – not least as the girl being interviewed earlier said she DIDN’T WANT TO GO to Jewish clubs!

But we need more reports from the West Bank – people can see through the BBC nonsense, they can see many people prosperous and enjoying themselves. The economy there is growing fast – the better things get, the more it will be clear that the Gazans are responsible for their own misfortunes.

It takes a real cynic not to have complete sympathy for these people who live under “occupation” and don’t want to freely cross the border to go to a Jerusalem night club because they’re not comfortable being around Jews. :'(
No wonder the BBC feels the need to fight against Israeli propaganda in order to educate the world about the plight of poor, oppressed, suffering people like these. :'(
*DONT_KNOW*

The girl clearly hadn’t been properly briefed. If she had she would have claimed the Jews won’t let her into their clubs.
There is a technical problem, however. It is not that easy for Palestinians from Ramallah to cross the border to Tel Aviv especially at night. Could she be an Israeli Arab?

Just for the info, Ref that timeline sue mentioned its missing a salient snippet of Israel/Syrian history. Syria along with the rest of the Arab nations bordering Israel invaded in 1948 in which to push the jews into the sea, if the bBC had bothered its arse in quiting historical fact rather than historical revisionism then whoever read that so called timeline would see that actually Syria started the bun fight between the two countries and not Israel. But hey Abu Bowen couldn’t be seen dead telling the truth could he.
