Inquiry Query

Last year Richard Tait, head of the BBC’s Editorial Standards Committee was to chair an investigation into allegations of inaccuracy and bias by Jeremy Bowen. But Mr Tait had already proclaimed on air that he had complete confidence in Jeremy Bowen. So the outcome seemed a foregone conclusion.

One of the committee of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict, Christine Chinkin, made no secret of her bias against Israel, yet she was considered fit for purpose and remained in her post.

But three wrongs don’t make a right, and I hope the oleaginous ‘uman rights lawyer Clive Stafford-Smith’s objections don’t overturn the appointment of Sir Peter Gibson to lead the inquiry into whether the UK has been complicit in the torture of terror suspects.
Kim Howells and Stafford-Smith, sounding alarmingly like Leslie Phillips, can be heard talking to John Humphrys here.

What? They’re accusing Clive of doing it because he’s trying to get his client Binyam Mohamed off! How very dare they!

Spiv ambulance chasing briefs with a chancers eye for long drawn out cases where legal aid can be syphoned off in industrial quantities, the spivs have found a long term rent payer scam courtesy of the imbecile taxlsave who has almost no chance of getting any legal aid.
The scam is creaming off hundreds of millions of pounds a year for the spivs, they have found a cash cow/golden goose, just one high profile case lasting a few years pays the bills at least.
Nice work if you can get it eh? A victimless crime the spivs might say but the real victims are of course those who foot the bill for spivs like CSS to enjoy the good life. The last ten years has been a profiteers/chancers/spivs paradise with friends opening the cash spigots for them and now there are so many gold rush parasites cling to the flow it cannot support them all.
In moral terms you could say the wartime looters of dead bodies and the spivs are one and the same? both should be rewarded in the old fashioned way IMHO.

    Cassie,

Would you like to define “the old fashioned way ”   ?

The BBC’s Editorial Standards Committee is a joke – just look through any complaint made against the BBC and this comittee rejects is out of hand. It is only when it reaches the “Trust” that it may get to be partially accepted and even this is rare.

We need a truly independant panel to deal with complaints against the BBC , preferably  one that is not full of people with conflicting interests.

The BBCs enqiries are as useless and flawed as the so-called “Climate Change” enqueries.

A fucking enquiry in to torture? My old land lord used to piss himself when ever I used to go on about how hard things were. He delighted in telling I have no idea what hard is. He was a POW during WWII, mercifully captured by the boch at El Alamain and not the Nips! But still, some of the shit Jerry got up to makes the so called torture today look like a sunday fucking stroll!

These fucking uman rites lawyers have stripped the back bone out of the Western civilization and replaced it with soft white squishy stuff!

Scroll down and watch the “demonstration”.

If all the spies captured in the USSR during the cold war were treated like this I doubt if they would ever have got more than their name, rank and serial number.

Here’s a story you won’t find Abu Bowen airing about Gaza.

    Talk about f-ing gratitude.
Shin Bet has arrested a Hamas cell believed to be behind the shooting attack in which Yehoshua Sofer was killed in June, it was cleared for publication on Monday. Two other policemen were injured in the attack when terrorists fired at their patrol car driving near the settlement of Beit Hagai, south of Hebron.

One of the cell’s heads said in his interrogation that just two weeks before he embarked on the attack, his six-year-old daughter was hospitalized in Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, where she had a tumor removed from her eye. The operation was funded by an Israeli organization.

Just think if the bBC actually aired this story, people may get a totally different picture of how the Jews treat Arabs

No doubt Clive Stafford-Smith would have no problem fighting the murderer’s case and seeing about getting him moved to the UK in which to receive a fair trial (and a council house worth 2 million)

The bBC, Lady Ashton’s visit to Gaza and half the story.
EU envoy urges Israel to open Gaza borders
Israel must go beyond easing its blockade of Gaza and throw open its long-closed border, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton has said Lady Ashton urged the international community to pressure Israel to end the blockade

And here is what the bBC didn’t mention ref the Ashton’s visit to the region :

“Baroness Ashton’s three-day trip has included time in the southern town of Sderot to see damage caused by rockets fired from Gaza, and talks with Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in Jerusalem. She has also met the parents of captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. She called on Hamas to release him “without delay” and demanded that Red Cross representatives be allowed to visit him immediately.”

    Funny enough ref the lifting of the blockade you’d think the media would have aired this story;

Hamas keeps barring West Bank dailies after Israel allows entrance

The deposed government of Hamas movement still bars the circulation of the three major West Bank-based Palestinian dailies in the Gaza Strip for the third day after Israel allowed their entrance into the costal enclave on Wednesday, the dailies’ circulation agents said Friday
