David, did you see Mr Gardner’s interview with Lord Tebbitt last year? The issue was ‘forgiveness’ and Frank Gardner and Lord Tebbitt had a surprisingly moving meeting of minds over the issue of the effects of terrorism on its victims. There’s hope for Frank Gardner.

Interesting. Now if Gardner had praised Israel for taking out Saddam’s nuclear reactor ten years before the First Gulf War I would have fallen off my chair. That would have been a step too far for Gardner and the BBC. Way too far.
No doubt he lives with a great deal of bitterness over his near demise at the hands of Arab terrorists in Saudi Arabia. One doesn’t recover easily psychologically from being almost killed and left paralysed by merciless thugs. I remember a few years back he came up with a typical left wing, PC statement on how wonderful other members of the Religion of Peace had been to him in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere after the attack and minimised suicide bombing by desccribing it in the mildest possible terms.
Not that the monster Saddam and his monstrous sons were religious. Anyway, could be Gardner has slowly come to learn who he is dealing with when he gets involved in the Middle East. Be interesting to find out whether he or anyone else from the BBC made any effort to inform people about Saddam’s torture chambers back when it mattered. I guess they took the same route CNN did when it deliberately misled the public for all those years by trying to polish the Iraqi turd.
Did a quick Google for Saddam’s torture chambers BBC. All results are from 2003 on – when of course it was safe to reveal the info.

It’s not so much “sensible comment” that is lacking, though there is that, it is the ever-elusive ALTERNATIVE point of view!
