BBC seemed more perturbed this morning that one rocket fired by peace-loving Islamic “militants” from the Sinai landed in Jordan than the several fired at Eilat in Israel. There is an almost blase approach to the BBC method of reporting terrorist attacks on Israel almost suggesting that the Israelis have invited such attacks. But since the BBC is neutral on all these matters, that can’t be the case, can it?

BBC: A Case Study in Bias
The BBC demonstrated exactly what is wrong with its coverage of Israel. In its headline Hamas fighter killed in Israel air strikes on Gaza, could the BBC have found a more sanitised way to describe a terrorist bomb maker and senior Hamas leader?
But it gets worse – the BBC does not just underplay the effects of rockets from Gaza, but fails to even mention that this particular attack employed the more powerful and longer-range Grad missile:
Rocket fire from Gaza has reduced in the past year after Hamas reined in attacks, but sporadic fire from other militant groups continues.
Correspondents say such attacks are almost always ineffective, with rockets mostly landing in open fields.
Who are these nameless “correspondents” that the BBC relies on make a judgement on just what constitutes an effective rocket attack? Even when such rockets have failed to hit a target, the act of firing them at Israeli civilians forced to take cover in shelters, disrupting everyday life, is terrifying enough irrespective of casualty figures.
In fact, approximately 110 rockets and mortars have been fired at Israeli territory since the beginning of 2010, and over 400 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel since the end of Operation Cast Lead.
All of these rockets are fired with the express intention to kill and maim Israeli civilians – something that the BBC seems incapable or unwilling to acknowledge. As such, the BBC turns a blind eye to the reality and distorts the truth.
And just to make the point that the BBC is more concerned with a seeming imbalance in the casualty figures, its report states:
One Thai farmer in Israel has been killed in the past year.
Dozens of Palestinians, some of them civilians, have been killed in attacks from Israel over the same period.
Using a simplistic description lacking in any context, the BBC succeeds in ensuring that Israel comes across as an aggressor by downplaying Palestinian rocket attacks, removing their murderous intent and portraying Israel as the killer of Palestinians. Thus Israeli self-defence is given the same moral equivalence as the terrorist acts emanating from Gaza.
The BBC has, once again, demonstrated its insidious form of anti-Israel bias.

I’m waiting for the BBC interviewer to ask the Hamas representative, “As your rockets generaly fail to hit a useful target and Israeli response seldom fails, isn’t it time to stop”?
At the end of the BBC’s report, there’s the bit that adds the “the Israelis deserved it” dimension that the BBC must include “for balance.”

Although the IDF have denied it, the BBC goes for the Hamas sources version, and lumps it in with an retaliatory attack that Israel does admit.
Elder of Ziyon has: “It’s too early for the PalArab newspapers to report on this, but invariably when the IDF denies the attack, at first the PalArab papers make it appear like an Israeli strike and then they end up admitting it was a “heroic martyrdom operation.”
If that turns out to be the case, will the BBC report it? Bury it?

BBC line is that Israelis deserved to be bombed and horror of horrors sometimes innocent non isrealis (Thai farmers,Jordanians) are unintentionally injured or killed.
Sometime ago a bomb exploded outside a synagogue in Paris and two innocent non jewish passers by were killed. The guilty congregation were uninjured.
When the Egyptians capture the bombers, the alegations of brutality against the militants will follow.

The “proportional” meme is on display here. At the bottom of the report, the BBC mentions that Israel did make an air strike at Hamas targets over the weekend, in retaliaiton for that rocket in Ashkelion which hit “without causing serious casualties”. This is important to the BBC, because their ghoulish Body-Count Narrative is the moral compass they use to orient their editorial policy and direct all report for the region.
But since Hamas’s rockets – which the BBC always makes sure to tell you are amateurish and not directly targeted at anyone – are now hitting innocent Muslims, I expect the BBC will start to frown a little harder at those pesky amateur rockets from Gaza. Not so harmless now, are they, BBC?
The BBC likes dead Jews, the more the merrier. It is those of us who insist on living whom they revile.
