Bias can be so subtle.
Consider this; Just before 7am, on Today, the BBC found time to interview Dan Hannan on his call for a referendum on our continued membership of the EU. Naturally he was not given an easy ride and there was a distinctive glacial tone in the not so fragant Sarah Montague’s questioning. Meanwhile, God-denier and BBC fave Stephen Hawkings gets TWO slots to advance his contention that the Almighty does not exist – at 7.12am and 8.31am.
So, Hannan is allowed air-time but in the graveyard slot whereas Hawkings gets prime time!
I have always note how Montague has a silky sugary tone with her ideoloical comrades but it turns hard and nasty when she interviews her political enemies.

Cassie,
It is the same with all BBC interviewers except Andrew Neil. When they are interviewing Labour people, it is not really an interview, just a cosy chat between soulmates. I often feel as if I am eavesdropping on a private conversation.

Hawking is a genius so he gets a free pass from me I’m afraid.

Just as there is no consensus on AGW so Hawking too is not infallable.

Very true, but with true science Hawking won’t fear him being proven wrong.

I think Hannan is smarter!

Same news bulletin told us that Yoko would rather that Chapman did not get released for parole.
Where is Clive Stafford Smith?…Louise Christian?…Gareth Pierce?…Michael Mansfield?…Geoffrey Roberston or Helena Kennedy?…where are these fearless speed-dial advocates to suggest why Mark Chapman has suffered enough?
.Radio 4 happy to run up a flag over murder as “not being quite that simple anymore,” so I do wonder why none of the Guardian Human Rights lobby aren`t telling Yoko to “draw a line under it all and move on!”…she has a Victim Impact Statement to remind her of John so surely justice has triumphed!
Daniel Hannon-way too good for the Useless Tories isn`t he?

A NOTE TO – Mr Preiser on his reply to my “persiflage” comments on the “SPANISH EYES…” blog
I do not care for your hyperbolised sarcasm. It may simply be your idiom for the relief of your ennui on this platitude-ridden web-site, but I don’t like it. So kindly keep your sarcastic remonstrations to yourself.

Hawking maybe clever but to take it upon himself to announce that billions of people throughout the centuries have been misguided and only he knows the “truth” is an arrogance.
“I would rather err on the side of faith than on the side of doubt.”

What Hawking actually said is that the M theory means that there is no need for a ‘creator’.
Religious people still take their sick child to a hospital which is full of technology built on scientific theories and not a church.

Oh, thats alright then.
“Religious people still take their sick child to a hospital which is full of technology built on scientific theories and not a church.”
So that proves Hawking is right? Do you know the origins of hospitals – hint: they where not founded by scientists.

No but the equipment inside then is based on scientific theories John. An MRI scanner owes nothing to ‘god’ to work.

Any denial of Faith is manna from Heaven(oops!) to the BBC unless of course it’s the religion of peace.

Yes and hannon was in the last slot on the Daily Politics and guess what, he had to be rushed as they had run out of time. This sort of thing is what they do all the time.

I noticed Andrew Neil started shouting over the top of Hannan when he went to give his website address out on The Politics Show yesterday.
By the way, its:

I don’t know why we are surprised as it’s a case of control the media, control political opinion. Taking this into account, BBC bias is inevitable. What we should be asking is how this was allowed to happen and more worrying, how we can do anything about it. Short of a bloody revolution, I can’t see a damn thing changing.
