As we miserable lot in Blighty shiver and freeze, Richard Black is there at Cancun in the nice 79 degrees heat (no doubt in a luxury hotel) at our expense, complaining plaintively that the talks may be to no avail , but at the same time warning that – because CO2 levels are going to start rising again – we are all in dire danger because of our complacency. He (and/or the story sub)are also concerned to warn us that climate change has already done for the mangroves on the Cancun coast, though how they know that with certainty escapes me.
What Mr Black wilfully ignores is the rather more negative reports about Cancun that are impossible to avoid everywhere on the internet. This editorial, for example, from the Washington Times which says the talks are doomed quite simply because AGW was built on a tissue of lies and scientific twisting. I also spotted this, which nails the central Cancun-IPCC alarmist porkie that sea levels are rising faster than in the past. And finally, it escapes Mr Black that one of the core alarmist prediction of warmists/Met Office/UEA – that snow would become a thing of the past in the UK within a few years – has also rather convincingly been found to be hot air. One of my favourite ladies, Jo Nova nails the UK snow lie admirably.
Enjoy the Cancun sun, Richard, and never let inconvenient truth get in the way of your worldview.
It seems that one of the reasons Black is so gloomy is because he’s the only Beeboid there. The whole Warmist agenda is dying, and he couldn’t convince the BBC to send anyone else. They sent 20 hacks to Copenhagen, but just Black to Cancun. Obviously it’s much cheaper to send a bunch of Beeboids on a short hop to Copenhagen, but this is still a sign of how bad things are getting for the Warmists.
Record cold temps aren’t going to help Black’s mood, either.

“he couldn’t convince the BBC to send anyone else”
That’s odd! Shukman was in Texas last week misleading the viewers in respect of the wonder of windfarms in Sweetwater. As you know better than most, Texas is, what, 2 hours flying time to Cancun. I can’t believe the BBC would be so cruel as to deprive one of its most loyal apparatchiks his place at the taxpayer-funded junket. It’s rather like God refusing to let Moses into the Promised Land.

Too bad nobody at the BBC can find time to condemn St. Bono for the astronomical carbon footprint for his latest tour:
Six 747 jumbo jets and 55 semis. How about a little frown in his direction, BBC? Hypocrites, the lot of them.

55 Semis? I get one of those every time I look at Dannii minogue 🙂

“The fallen mangroves near Cancun may concentrate minds on protection from climate impacts”
How dishonest can this ecofreak get? This has nothing to do with (aledged) global warming.
These “fallen mangroves” are a result of Hurricane Wilma.

And as the BBC points out:
“It is known, however, that hurricane activity fluctuates on a multi-decadal cycle. The 1930s to 1960s was a period of high activity, 1970 to 1994 saw low activity and from 1995 there has once again been an increase.”

Why are we paying for this person to sit drinking taquilas while I have to battle through 2 feet of snow to get to work to earn money to pay for this crap?
If anyone is damaging the environment it is the envirofreaks amassing themselves in a small Mexican coastel resort.

In a few years there’ll be more BBC news staff than delegates at these UN sponsored eco-apocalypse meetings.
Can’t they be retrained in the art of making hospital dramas or just made redundant?

Here is some more info for Black as he blames a life giving gas for the loss of mangroves.
“Thick mangrove forests lined the canals and waterways here before developers dredged the land to make way for the upscale hotels that now draw several million tourists every year.
In the 40 years since Cancun was founded, countless acres of mangrove forests up and down Mexico’s Caribbean Coast have been lost — and the destruction continues.”

I expect Black, being a good environmentalist is staying in a tent and not one of the luxurious hotels built on mangrove forests.

I have just returned from Powys. Truly incredibly cold and the river Wye was half frozen over. As usual when it is very cold there was little or no wind so the turbines up on the hills were idle.
Do they ever leave London? These ignorant hack journalists. Do they know anything about winds and why wind direction can tell you so much about what is coming? Do they ever look up at the sky. I doubt it. Their beliefs are inspired by blind adherence to dogma.

Well, here in Edinburgh I’ve got more than a foot of global warming in my driveway. I can’t ever recall so much snow here, and certainly not in November.

Well I for one hope Mr Black stops this Globular warming thing as I’m freezing /? sorry I mean burning my bits off sat here in me ‘heat begone’ thermals ! it’s been so warm here in Anglesey that we have that white stuff that only appears when the temp rises! that’s 5 times in the last year and nothing for the 4 years previous so it’s a tipping [or is it tripping ? never sure ] point !
Save us Mr Black!! it could all be over by Christmas!

In pictures. It’s ‘effing’ cold. It was clever PR to take the Global Warming conference to Cancun. In Copenhagen it’s -3°C and 93% Humidity. It’s snowing.
Now that would have been embarrassing! :-[
