It’s one of Nicky Campbell’s “Big Questions” this morning. On the panel to help us understand this is BBC favourite Salam Yaqoob, leader of Respect. Might I suggest that the BBC re-phrase the question “Do Muslims have a problem with Britain”?
DOES BRITAIN HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MUSLIMS?

I’m sure they’ll decide that it doesn’t. Won’t alter the fact that it does, and the population at large knows it.

Yes we do. There’s far too much coverage of Muslims & Islam in this country, especially from the BBC.
Anyone would think the UK population is at least 50% Muslim and that Islam has been the only religion in the UK for thousands of years. The Islam/Muslim subject also seems to be covered in the Big Questions programme every 4 weeks out of 5.

I can’t wait for the progamme “Does Britain have a problem with Sikhs, Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Pagans, Zoroastrians, Taoists, Wiccans, Jedi etc.?” Mind you, it would be a pretty short programme wouldn’t it?

david hanson,
That is the point. By only asking the question only of muslims, Dame Nikkie answers the question himself, albeit probably inadvertantly.

The BBC does have a problem with Christianity and Christians.
Why I have no idea unless they blame the Vatican and Christians in destroying their beloved USSR. Come to think of it the BBC also hate Pres Reagan and Margaret Thatcher – the other two stalwarts who put paid to the USSR.

The craven BBC have been licking the boots of any passing imam for so long now that it`s addicted.
That they don`t give a fig for the Chinese,Hindus ,Sikhs as is said elsewhere is only because these groups don`t deliver the moneyshots that, say The Satanic Verses” did…hence their complete indifference to anything other that Islam.
The boot sniffers at the Beeb need the “edge” and the “thrill” of sirens…adrenaline being a legal high, as opposed to their usual ones. This is why they are hardwired now and addicted to danger…unless its Mugabe or Assad in which case they camp on the bordersand make shows for each other. They`re not so brave as to see what their socialist chums are doing-that`s what the plain Irish girls are sent in to check on.
If only they knew the scorn that the normal Muslim has for their continual appeasement and reflex arse baring to the MCB etc.Sadly they`re so thick and prejudiced that they they never will.

Shame Douglas Murray wasn’t on there.
This is my fav video of him beating down that vile pig, Salma Yaqoob, and her obedient slave, Ken Livingstone.

Many thanks for that link, I have never seen Mr Murray in action before. I think I have just gained a new hero!

Most illuminating! Thanks very much for posting.

It’s great to see him in full flow isn’t it. We usually only get to see him on QT where he’s not allowed more than 3 words without interruption.

This link also contains youtube of Douglas Murray in fine form (he always is!).

For me, his is quite simply the most articulate voice for common sense and reason that we have in our country, which unfortunately means none of the mainstream parties would have a place for him! Which is a shame, his voice dearly needs to be heard in Parliament. There is, I feel, a significant enough nexus of democrat voices speaking truth that are the basis of a party vehicle for putting voices like Mr Murray and others in Parliament. I can’t see our terminal decline being arrested any other way.
It’s not just that DM is such an articulate voice for truth and reason, its also how excellent he is at not letting him be derailed by the stratagems of malign individuals and their useful idiots in trying to smother what he has to say.
One of the few rays of hope Britain has, and one that shines very brightly. Would that that constellation I yearn for for comes into being. Britain is dead otherwise.

Hi Hippiepooter,
I don’t have much to add to your comment, I would just like to say how much I agree with it. Well put. How I wish the brave DM would enter politics; perhaps he could be the Geert Wilders we so badly need..

While the author here seems to put undue faith in PM Cameron, she does indicate aspects of the problem with Islam and with mass immigration in Britain.

Can I start with Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

Didn’t Woy Jenkins & the progressive liberals of the 60s set the ball rolling on this matter?

The Big Questions is usually a bit of a bear-baiting exercise, what with the audience’s response providing the ambience and exacerbating the passion. This episode was better than usual because it devoted the whole programme to the one question. Unfortunately it attempted to tackle too many controversial issues within that vast topic for any single one to progress towards a meaningful conclusion.
Behind this cacophony Islam’s inherent antisemitism lurks, and that is the very thing that needs to be aired, but hardly ever is.

David you have hit the nail on the head – “does Britain have a problem with Moslems?” -this carries all the BBC narrative freight, implying that the fundamental problem is with Britain itself. Clearly BBC land feels that a major problemis that there is insufficient ‘tolerence’ and ‘celebration’ of ismalisation (and all theother isations that are going on at the moment) The BBC drives the discussion, as always, with the supposition that it is the pre-existing nation, society and mores that should change to accomodate the vocal, and politically useful, requirements of migrating ‘believers’ who adhere to very different (and in my opinion incompatible) social structures.
Quite clearly there is a problem in Britain – nutters blowing up busses, trying to destroy aircraft with pants and shoes, women abused, brummie accents in taliban communications, Posters in slough histrionically defaced by unknown guardians of modersty from a faith system that also in some parts of the world protects ‘modesty’ with female genital mutilation, execution for adultery, apostasy and plenty of other stuff that we kind of left behind in the 1620’s.
Surely the problem is with a small group of moslims who simply don’t like it here, and these individuals are p***ing off the general population. The problem is not the pi**ed of majority population, perhaps the BBC could reflect this once in a while

The purpose of the BBC is not to make you reflect, it is to try to get you to arrive at correct conclusions. A correct conclusion is whatever serves the interests of a Guardian reader.
A Guardian reader is essentially a left of centre public sector worker – active or retired. If you are waiting for a programme on the BBC called “Why the Public Sector is expensive and gives poor service” on the BBC you are going to wait a long time. If you want a programme called “How Tory cuts are affecting the vulnerable” just stick around, one will be along in a minute.
The BBC is essentially a 52 weeks a year Party Political Broadcast on behalf of the Public Sector Party by people who make no secret of the fact they despise the working class (Sun Readers) and the middle class (Daily Mail readers) upon which they feed.
They justify this arrangement via an appeal to something called “social justice”. What is called “social justice” occurs when money is re-distributed into the pockets of Guardian readers – who declare that it is in the “public interest”.Just in case the public decide it is not in their interest, the BBC attempts to re-educate them.
It is is essentially feudalism. They make no attempt to disguise their hatred of capitalism. A free market for a Guardian reader equals a big fall in their income (not to mention their power) and so it is very important that you are educated by the BBC to have correct views.

Good points, It’s all too much, & wild. Personally, I think the problem isn’t only with the Muslim lunatic fringe. In my experience, moderate muslims are thin on the ground. I do know some, & they have quietly rejected Islam, & moved out of the family circle, at considerable emotional cost. Many non-violent Muslims could be better described as passive, or dormant, because when push comes to shove, a lot of them will walk in lockstep with their extremist wing. After the 7/7 bombings we had little but mealy-mouthed, half-arsed regrets for the outrage. To the east of Shoreditch High Street, on that awful day, there was an atmosphere of high excitement among the Muslim community, as if their champions had, for once, stuck it to the great oppressor. The people i saw there didn’t, in the main, strike me as normally extremist, but, nonetheless, true colours were being shown. Beeboids would describe them all as moderates, of course. But that is their reflexive, hardwired response, until, perhaps, the black battle flags are massing outside the White City biodome. Even then the fools would be proffering fairtrade coffee & organically-sourced dates. That bleak day was the point at which I began to harbour deep suspicion about the Muslims in Britain. And subsequent, empirical observation, hasn’t dispelled my concern.

I find it interesting that in the last 15-20 years the attitude of many people (possibly the majority) towards Islam has moved from indifference to dislike to hatred. This does not appear to affect any other religion, but of course in the eyes of the left everyone is to blame except the Muslims.
I hold no brief for Nick Griffin, but when he described Islam as a “wicked, viscious faith” I don’t think he was too wide of the mark.

You`re right David.
Sometimes I wonder if the effete elite are closet religious conservatives in disguise-one Yasmin Alibiah Brown gets far more people dusting off that Bible than fifty Nick Griffins!
Hope the liberal elite continue their shrill hysterical smearing of conservatism and christianity-at this rate, the secular Islamophile
will have hollowed out Islam until its a lavender husk to match the BBC.

jarwill,
Fair points. Anecdotal, I know, but I had lunch with a good Pakistani muslim friend of mine here in Scotland last friday and he was delighted about the death of Bin Liner.
He ( my friend, not Bin Liner ) first came to the UK in 1960 to play cricket, stayed on , built up his own business, paid his taxes, never claimed Social Security and laments the decline in the British standards, which he admires , and the rise in Islamo-fascism.
Too many people comment on muslims when the only conversation they have ever had with one is to say ” can I pay for my newspapers ? ” and have never visited a muslim country, let alone lived in one.
The appeasement of “muslim” extremists by the left-liberal elite, including the current Government and the BBC harms moderate muslims just as much as the rest of us, in my view.

Anecdotal it may be, Grant, but it’s a relevant point you make. I have never doubted there are good people amongst the muslims. Unfortunately, while their politicians & clerics keep so many of them in ignorance & poverty, & a spark away from acts of madness, relations between them and us are always going to be volatile. None of us have the luxury of waiting for an Islamic Enlightenment, after which that faith will become one of choice, rather than forced membership.

Spot on wild!
We are run by an effete elite that continue to suck the lifeblood out of the nation.
These “champions of the oppressed” continually make the contribution(in the form of charity, advocacy and hankies) whilst the rest of us make the sacrifice( no education worthy of the name, no pensions, and being hounded into conformity/compliance). They feel it only their due…apt reward for being oh so virtuous, and they are surrounded by more like them to confirm the groupthink.
Islam despises them-which is obviously a shock to these quislings and cowards because they go out of their way not to stand up against them. They rewrite what they`re told, they`ll not bother looking at the Koran or those “challenging videos”-and all for the peace of the grave!
Bloody Lennon on the iPod, a rose at Strummers shrine in Glasto or a humming of Karma Chameleon won`t save them…so let`s stop feeding these guilty prep school toadies!

Essentially, the E.U. (inc Britain) is being colonised by Islam.
INBBC does not recognise:
1.) the long imperialist history of global conquest since the 7th century;
2.) the many tenets of Islam which are violently hostile to non-Muslims;
3.) the need to impose strict limits to immigration to Britain to slow the Islamisation of British society; obviously, this entails Britain leaving the E.U., and developing a political party in Britain which, unlike Tories, Lib Dems, Labour (and INBBC), opposes the entry of 80 million Muslim Turks into the E.U.

Campbell wasn’t completely sucking up to the idea that the real problem is with white Islamophobes and not with the caveman culture too many British Muslims live in, but he was really only barely honest about the problem. Unfortunately, the overall discussion was fundamentally dishonest. I was actually encouraged at first by the makeup of the panel, but it was obviously a set-up to fool people like me.
For example, Campbell made a pretense of challenging the extremist who denied that his imam said it was okay to beat your wife. It was a classic facade of impartiality. By asking if the man agreed with the statement about wife-beating, Campbell was able to pretend that it was a real challenge. The man dodged and weaved, and was never nailed down for it, and was never forced to stand by his claim that Campbell was lying about the quote. Instead, he and the other extremists were allowed time and again to dismiss all charges about caveman culture as mere stereotype or unhelpful name-calling (yes, I get the superfical cognitive dissonance of that last sentence). When asked if he was supposed to obey his wife as much as wives were supposed to obey the husband, “in some things, yes,” was accepted by Campbell as the end of the matter. He never pushed the discussion to an honest answer when it mattered. What a joke.
Every time Salma Yaqoob and the white woman dressed as a fundamentalist Muslim were allowed time to spell out their thoughts in full, they ended up blaming whites or the West for everything. This was allowed as fact and provided a nice smoke screen every time a legitimate challenge was raised.
This thing went round in circles, really. It’s a lot of noise which accomplished nothing except to entrench the notion that vast majority of Mohammedans in Britain are loyal and happy to join British society and are not ghettoised (except when it’s the white man’s fault) and do not support terrorism and do not support extremism and do not support anything except Queen and country. Any time a good, helpful point was raised, it was immediately beaten down as uninformed or misleading or somehow disproven by a poll. All charges were eventually dismissed as bigoted or misguided or unfair to the cool majority.
What was really frustrating was that all the panelists kept saying that there was a real problem with a minority of extremist lunatics and they didn’t want all Muslims to be conflated with them, but every time they tried to define what was extremist it was challenged. So the actual point was always forgotten and it all degenerated into various will-o’-the-wisp distractions. There were several moments of potential breakthrough, but they always lost out to scolding.
Campbell himself made sure to emphasize certain key points of the BBC Narrative, such as how “foreign policy mistakes” have of course made the country “less safe”, and that the West is responsible for the spread of Wahabbiism. (This last bit is a red herring because Bin Laden and the Muslim Brotherhood types are opposed to the Saudi rulers, so it’s BS to blame home-grown terrorism in the UK on the Saudi Petro-Dollars™).
That this whole thing was a charade for the BBC to pat themselves on the back for addressing the question of Islam vs. Britain was exposed when the audience clapped at Yaqoob’s quip that Blair and Bin Laden are cut from the same cloth. Nicky Campbell participated in this charade, and indeed enabled it with his gestures towards frowning at fundamentalism.
What a shock that the conclusion of this debate was foregone, and I could have guessed it before it started.

Does Great Britain have a problem with millions of hostile colonists the majority of whom hate Great Britain, its native peoples, its Judeo Christian ethics and its nature?
Yes we most certainly do have a problem and yes its getting worse by the month and those who do not see it now will certainly see it soon and it will be as ugly as the Lebanon or the Balkans. These hostile colonists are not flocking here because they love the UK, they are here to colonise the UK, they are here because the state gives them free money and cringes before their ever increasingly shrill demands.
Yes we do have a problem a big big problem and with every 1% increase in the population of hostile colonists there will be perfectly synchronised rise in conflicts between the native population and these utterly alien and hostile colonists, they do not want to share and they do not want to integrate and they do not want to coexist, they want it all.
Every mosque they build is a statement of ownership of the land on which it is built, the mosque itself are the deeds to the new land aquirred by these hostile colonists. This is something the political class have to grasp or acknowledge, the primary function of the mosque has always been to mark out muslim ownership on the land on which it stands.
In effect our political class has handed over areas of OUR land to foreign occupiers, this land WILL form the eventual claim of muslim ownership of the land that surrounds the mosque, it is even now no longer British soil but the kernal of the caliphate to be. Within this new caliphate land any British law is even now being seen as the law of the OCCUPIER!
Understand this tragic fact folks, the ever increasing plots of land handed over to the hostile colonists has in effect been lost to Great Britain. As the boundaries increase each plot of stolen land will become self governing and as this happens more demands will pile on fresh demands for self government. Any attempt to impose British law on these proto caliphates will result in conflict leading to the political class giving way and giving in. Within these areas beyond our control we will see hatreds build and conflicts flare.
Do we have a problem? Oh yes we have a problem, we are losing the very land we stand on to an utterly hostile and jealous people who hate and despise us with an intensity we can barely fathom.

And right on f*cking que the BBC toady is pimping the narrative, the essential nature of the entire problems we in these islands face:
Its all OUR fault right?
Every problem with the hostile colonists is OUR fault OK? The poverty in these islands of islam is OUR fault, we do not give them enough money! If only we infidel monkey pigs gave these hostile colonists more of everything they would be happy and content, if we dirty infidels gave in and laid down and allowed ourselves to be trampled on then everything would be wonderful OK?
Here is the tragedy, we are not to blame. The truth is very different isnt it? It is not money that causes the problem it is the culture of these hostile colonists that is the problem.

All true Cassandra!
Rushdie, Fortuyn, Van Gogh, Danish cartoons, Regensburg are all the nightmares of the BBC-not mine!
Islam hates the craven metrosexuals that patronise it…and no-one insults and patronises like the BBC as we know.
As long as we the people of Britain don`t give an inch, then they will lose-funny that “4 Lions” hasn`t been on telly yet isn`t it? We need more of that!
I know the Beeb hate the certainty opf Islam, but are too scared to say anything…more fool them for insisting that all religions belong in the same boat.
Christians know what Islam is up to here-and rage at what is happening in Sudan,Pakistan,Egypt etc.
Can`t do too much about those places yet,but can certainly do something re Bunglawallas,Choudrays and Yaqoobs infecting the airwaves if only the Mosques would deal with them-sharia or not!
In the current climate, the BBC are too craven and the Muslim “spokesmen” get too much advantage to prevent this…but lots of us are aware and will not let it get as bad as you`re rightly forseeing that it might.

A new question the BBC should ask itself, it would be good for a further Nikki Campbell programme; – “Why does Islam, alone of all minority religions in the UK, warrant questions being asked about its compatibility etc.?”
On here we know the answer, except for Dez and Scottie, but it would be good for a bit of self-examination by the Beeb. If the general population has no problem with Hindus, Jews, Sikhs etc. why does the BBC feel the need to have a programme like this one? What is different about Islam?
I suspect they would quickly realise the direction that any of these questions would lead so they won’t even start thinking about it.
