Had to laugh at the interview with the Woodland Trust’s Sue Holden on Today this morning (7.42am). Sue was on to spout the usual spiel that we need many more forest, more trees, since this is good for our health apparently. Naturally there was no voice of opposition to Holden’s tree-mania. When it comes to their favourite causes, the BBC are very careful who they put up for interview and who they deny access. In this case, there was consensus that we all love trees. Who would have figured that then?

I’m sure most modern ‘liberals’ would quite happily see our forests cut down and replaced with wind-farms or housing estates.
Heard it myself. Rambling and pointless except for the general conclusion that trees are a “good thing.”
Oh, and the present Government is as a consequence a bad thing.
I was shaking my head with bemusement. A waste really, because there is probably a proper debate to be had about the management of our forests.
I love trees – I burn quite a few of them each winter in my woodburner(s). They’re good for my health in that they keep me warm. If I can find an ecogreenie, I’ll often toss one of those on the woodburner, too. There aren’t many of them around these parts, though, because we all depend on a good quantity of wood for burning each year, and most of us appreciate that windmills and solar panels are ruddy useless.
I can’t quite imagine anyone saying ” I hate trees “.
I remember a fellow student at university once saying to me that he hated birds. I didn’t pursue the matter, just made my excuses and left.
The Evan and Justin show today had to include this pointless piece.
Learned more in five mins with Chris Evans/John Cleese than any amount of time with the two paperweights on Radio 4.
The adults are no better ,but leaving those two unsupervised on the bouncy castle that was once a news programme was derelict!
As if they`d have anything to say about Israel worth listening to-don`t know which one was Butthead(seemed to take turns I think!)
We all like trees lads, but maybe we could open the debate further to see if we feel the same about bushes…
