One of the many benefits of the BBC is that it helps educate us lesser mortals. For example, did you know that many Muslims do not understand Sharia? Here is the helpful BBC article concerned and a little excerpt for your morning edification;
“Sharia is a now a familiar term to Muslims and non-Muslims. It can often be heard in news stories about politics, crime, feminism, terrorism and civilisation. All aspects of a Muslim’s life are governed by Sharia. Sharia law comes from a combination of sources including the Qur’an (the Muslim holy book), theHadith (sayings and conduct of the prophet Muhammad) and fatwas (the rulings of Islamic scholars).
Many people, including Muslims, misunderstand Sharia. It’s often associated with the amputation of limbs, death by stoning, lashes and other medieval punishments. Because of this, it is sometimes thought of as draconian. Some people in the West view Sharia as archaic and unfair social ideas that are imposed upon people who live in Sharia-controlled countries.
Many Muslims, however, hold a different view. In the Islamic tradition Sharia is seen as something that nurtures humanity. They see the Sharia not in the light of something primitive but as something divinely revealed. In a society where social problems are endemic, Sharia frees humanity to realise its individual potential.”
RIYADH — A Sudanese man was beheaded Monday in Madina after he was convicted of practicing sorcery, the Interior Ministry announced. Abdul Hamid Al-Fakki “practiced witchcraft and sorcery,” which are illegal under the Shariah law, said a ministry statement. Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under the Shariah law enforced strictly in the Kingdom
Mr Al-Fakki must have been greatly consoled that it was all a big misunderstanding as his head rolled on the ground.

It’s not a helpful article if you want facts as opposed to waffle that rambles around the subject instead of informing as to what it actually is. You’ll look in vain for that and you will have to search hard for a single fact among all the peripheral ramblings of this type: Sharia is now a familiar term…It can often be heard…Many people…misunderstand….Many Muslims hold a different view…it is sometimes thought of as…it is often associated with…it is sometimes thought of as…they see the Sharia…as something…Sharia is seen as…Some people in the West view Sharia as…

Yes, but what is it? Even the sometimes unreliable and unscholarly Wiki can tells us this in the first line:
Sharia, shariah, sharīʿah or shariat[1] (Arabic: شريعة šarīʿah, IPA: [ʃaˈriːʕa], “way” or “path”) is the code of conduct or religious law of Islam.
That is beyond the wit of the BBC.
The world’s greatest broadcaster could only manage a couple of secondary factual points as to its origin and function buried in a sea of waffle and opinion but could not tell us the key primary fact of what it actually is. And you would never learn from this waffle that the religious Islamic law often runs alongside secular systems of law. If you were interested in the subject or of a vaguely inquiring turn of mind, you might wonder how that works. Don’t expect the Beeboid Corporation to tell you. The mission to inform is in tatters judging by this poor effort. It would make a good example of how not to write an article that is meant to inform about any subject.

This episode of “You Can’t Take It With You” was proof of just that: many Muslims in the UK apparently believe Shariah to be about “justice” and “fairness”. The devout Muslim parents were literally shocked to learn that Shariah Law dictated that they couldn’t treat their son and daughters equally and had to leave the estate entirely to the son, and could give the daughters nothing. Not only that, but they were also stunned by the revelation that if the husband died first, the wife wouldn’t even be allowed to inherit enough to stay in the family home. Seriously, they kept repeating how they believed that Islam was all about “justice” and “fairness”, and were blown away by all of this. I bet quite a few Beeboids working on the show were equally shocked to learn these facts.
I watched the whole thing when it aired, and enjoyed seeing the host state over BBC airwaves that Shariah Law was not entirely fair or just in some cases.
So the kind BBC host took them to the ubiqutious Tariq Ramadan, who smiled and gave them a loophole so all could pretend things were now fair and just.

In contrast to the way Islamophilic INBBC presents Sharia law, this is how the rather more trustworthy ‘Daily Mail’ presents Sharia law:
“As Islamic extremists declare Britain’s first Sharia law zone, the worrying social and moral implications”

Re the execution mentioned above in Riyadh.
No doubt Troy Davis being executed by lethal injection was trumpeted loudly by the BBC as another death penalty outrage in Georgia.
Yet nothing about only the latest beheading from Saudi…regular as Friday prayers…no Amnesty blowhards or Stafford Smiths there…there never were!
Still-those barbaric yanks eh?…
