HAGUE "THE EUROSCEPTIC"?

The BBC has been very happy to promote the comments of William Hague as being those of a “leading Eurosceptic”. Why? What has he ever achieved to merit such a reputation? He is quite clearly part of the Cameron rolling roadshow which pretends it is Eurosceptic but insists that the time for expressing such is never “quite right”. The BBC had Bernard Jenkin on here this morning and very eloquent he was. But is ensured that Hague got the prime time slot here from which he was able to propagate the leadership line that it is the “wrong time and wrong place” to even contemplate discussing our relationship with the EU. It strikes me the BBC delights in exposing Conservative splits on this issue but then again if Cameron had any guts he would stand up to EU propagandists like the BBC and ensure the will of the people was heard.

Of course, SKY NEWS is fairer in representing a range of opinion on the E.U. vote, than is BBC-NUJ-Labour-EU.

If a Martian landed on Earth today, he’d think Parliament was discussing some girl called Tori Splitz.

That’s what I keep saying: the BBC’s reporting fails even as journalism. The EU is a serious issue, not just because the it has a huge influence on British life and costs a bomb, but also because of the wider questions raised about democracy, the limits of government and the like. Meanwhile, our state broadcaster is determined to report it like a soap opera.

If you didn’t already know the issues at stake, you’d be hard pressed to work it out from the BBC’s reporting.

The last government had a good go at changing the people. No doubt the coalition will now join them.
Wretched English. They just do not think or behave as we their betters would like them to.
It will take reality to finally end the elites intellectual tyrrany.

HAGUE is a political hypocrite on British membership of the European Union; along with hundreds of other political hypocrites of all three British main parties, he supports UK membership, and opposes the promised referendum of the British people on membership of the E.U.

At the same time, Hague, Cameron, Milibands and Clegg, etc enthusiastically campaign for the entry of 80 million Muslim Turks into the E.U, and thereby for  the rapid Islamisation of the E.U and of Britain. And, of course, BBC-NUJ-Labour-EU supports it all too.

The BBC – ever willing to promote the EU and more than happy to cause trouble for the Conservatives, however opportunistic. They are eager to frame this issue entirely as one of ‘Tory splits’, but give little coverage to the public’s overwhelming wish for a referendum or the huge and growing troubles within the EU that are self-evident.

This is a good article, with a video clip that demonstrates perfectly the BBC’s one-track approach to this issue :

Well, except that HANNAN, Tory MEP, is a big Tory advocate (along with Cameron, Hague, etc.) for the Islamisation of the E.U through his advocacy of the entry of 80 million Muslim Turks.

Similarly, the Labour  and Lib Dems ‘leaderships’ all go to Ankara to make such speeches and pledges to the Erdogan government, and these British politicians campaign vigorously for Islamisation of the E.U. and Britain in this way.

      Info on e.g. HANNAN:

      Daniel Hannan

“Daniel Hannan is a founder member of the Conservative Friends of Turkey Association. The charter of this organisation commits it to lobby for Turkey’s accession to the EU.

“Many people who feel left out of the political mainstream are attracted to Daniel Hannan because he dares to articulate a few unconventional points of view, particularly in relation to the European Union and Britain’s membership of it. They fail to see, however, that on issues such as immigration, islamification and Turkey’s prospective membership of the EU, Hannan is a fully-paid up member of the establishment he affects to rebel against.”

I am pretty sore about this, having admired his stabs at Brown. I shall give this traitor some evil stick from now on, and let others know too. How can he be so stupid, so starstruck with a cruel [Armenian massacres] and, to my mind, backward country. In any case, Turkey is Asia Minor, not Europe, their choice by conquest, renaming Constantinople Istanbul. Another one for the ‘get’ list.

Nick Robinson’s description of Cameron and Hague as “profound Eurosceptics” caused much hilarity in my household this morning.

The issue was also the topic of the R5L phone-in with Lord Liddle and Nigel Farage putting the respective pro- and anti-EU cases. Presenter Rachel Burden asked the Breakfast programme’s financial reporter Andy “Wake Up to Manny” Verity to explain the possible repercussions of  UK withdrawal from the EU. It would be an understatement to say that his rambling take on things was somewhat one-sided. At one point he told Nigel Farage that the UK needs to be in the EU for the sake of influence and even claimed that the euro has a been a success. It goes without saying that Verity did not argue the toss with anything Liddle said. On the contrary, he was there as back-up for the Labour peer. Listen here from about 13 mins in.

And this is not the first time I’ve heard Verity sit in on an EU-related phone-in and offer nothing but pro-EU spin. He’ll do well at the BBC.

Suggesting that this is the wrong time for a distraction of a referendum is like saying that when you pull the knife out of a stabbing victim and the blood gushes out, that this would be the wrong time for the distraction of calling an ambulance.

After all this country is now haemorrhaging money to save a fatally wounded Euro.

This seems almost a meme around the houses.

I thought the Irish bloke on SKY was going to burst a gut laughing when Simon Hughes trotted out this, closely followed by the claim that ‘only a couple’ of his constituents had tasked him on the EU, but it was mainly the smug oaf made a bigger tit of himself bragging about his fluency in French.

Let’s not forget how the BBC would have enjoyed Labour winning a few more seats at the last election and then clinging on to power.

So what would we have now? Gordon Brown and his chancellor Ed Balls heading a rainbow coaltion of Labour, Liberals, Greens, Sinn Fein and other Nats who had flunked every suggestion of public expenditure cut backs.

On the positive side there would be union represenatives on the boards of our rapidly failing banks and lets not overlook the benefit of an indexed-linked TV Licence agreement – but on the negative side our dear leader would be going to Brussels to get in line behind Greece, Portugal, Spain and Italy in the hope of getting our very own EU bailout.

Thanks to sites like this, none of us need go to the likes of Glasgow or Cardiff Media Schools to see what the BBC are up to here.
    1. Most of us want out of the EU and at any price near enough. No accounts signed off in its entire existance and its sinister hounding of Marta Andreasen and Rocco Buttiglioni show what an evil empire in embryo we have been saddled with.
Undemocratic, out of control, unaccountable and dangerous.
    2. The chattering classes ,however ; just love this body language, rune-reading soft authoritarian hotch potch. Keeps the plebs out of things, and rewards the lickspittles and toadies ever so well…Polly, Cherie etc…much better for the ego to smear your smarm all over Europes capitals rather than settling for poisoning what remains of the water hole in Lincolns Inn…so parochial these days!
    3. Therefore the BBC-the Emu of Rod Hulls fantasies/…sees it as a political trial of strength…as if any of us give a damn.
If Cameron gave us a referendum, he could leave Labour out of power for a generation. Instead, he would rather strut about as if he actually was able to “lead” anything…and , like that sloping class of nomarks that report his words and then put their ball bearings under his bandwagons-they can quibble over the bunfights and cat scratches that ensue.
We know the reporting of all this is a handbag festival as run by Mr Barraclough of Slade Prison…we want out.
And no BBC bawbie need bother their arse to tell me how the backbenchers etc are seeing it…no referendum?…get ready for the coming storms then!

BBC News Channel now saying that it’s “extraordinary” that such a “rebellion” has taken place 18 months into a Government.  This is Cameron’s own fault, really.  Any more Tory Split noise can be blamed on him.

  23. David Preiser (USA) says:

At last, Sopel told Dougie Alexander that Labour was just as bad about Europe because the majority of the public wants to vote on it.  Of course, that’s in between lengthy attacks from Alexander about Tory Splits, etc., and no mention of a certain previous Government reneging on promises about this either.

But Alexander took the exact same position as Hague (not in our best interests, blah, blah), so it doesn’t really make Labour look any better than the Tory leadership.  BBC producers need to figure out a different angle.

      • David Preiser (USA) says:

I didn’t see Alexander’s position on Europe as a surprise.  He was pro Europe, as expected. Sopel missed an opportunity to hit Labour a second time about not being in tune with the public.  The point of the segment, though, was Tory Splits, and Cameron’s leadership trouble.  If anything, this vote showed that many Tory MPs are listening to the public, while the Tory leadership and most of of Labour are not.

But that would detract from the Tory Split/Cameron is a poor leader agenda.  It’s quite the condundrum for the Beeboids:  How to push the Narrative of weak Tory leadership and trouble below stairs without giving too much credence to the notion that the majority of the public want out of Europe. Which would mean that the BBC is very out of step with the public.

        • Reed says:

I agree, David. Except that the BBC don’t seem to have any problem at all pushing the ‘Tory splits’ narrative without causing any trouble with regard to their sympathies for the EU and Labour. They simply make little mention of the public’s overwhelming desire for a referendum and therefore need make no mention at all of Labour’s complicity in the denial of one. Why make trouble for either when you can ignore both.

My only sympathy for the Tories is that the BBC framed the issue as Tory splits when it should have been 74 percent of Tory MPs put two fingers up to the public but 93 percent of Labour MPs and 98 percent of Liberal MPs did the same.

    • Reed says:

      Exactly, Richard.
That’s the point that needs to be made, over and over again. There may have been ‘splits’ in the Tories, but at least some of them did the right thing. Labour and the Libdems as a whole conspired to deny the public their right to a voice. We won’t forget.

    I’m not happy about this:

    A.  How is last night’s vote relevant to the issue of trust? The MPs who voted against the government did so based on the issue at hand, not because they mistrusted the government.

    B.  It is a personal opinion presented as fact.

    C. If he wants to address the issue of mistrust amongst backbench MPs, maybe Mr Robinson should look at whether Labour & Lib Dem backbenchers have complete faith in their leaders.

I have to say that on this point I agree with Nick Robinson. It is quite obvious that Cameron has so often promised Tory backbenches he is “about to do something” about repatriating powers back to the UK that they no longer believe him, particularly when incremental moves are occuring in the other direction on a regular basis. Listen to his speech prior to the debate – pure “jam tomorrow”. I am afraid that I now treat these sort of anouncements with a pinch of salt. Actions speak louder than words.
