Not exactly. The article he links to with that dishonest summaryreveals it’s about a woman who was pregnant and took rat poison. The baby – or foetus or inanimate object, depending on your point of view. right? – was at 32 weeks when she took the poison. Babies born at eight months survive on their own all the damn time, so this is hardly a case of the morning after pill or aborting a zygote. Abortion is illegal at that stage. Only this one was in obvious distress and the docs did a Caesarian, which means he or she (the Left-wing Guardian is equally willing to dehumanize the baby, so avoided using a gender term) could quite possibly have lived even though a month premature. Sadly, the baby died the next day.
Yet to Mardell, it was an inanimate object and he sees it as a prison sentence for suicide. Now we know his personal position on this issue.
It seems that the BBC is supporting the age for passive euthanasia of the elderly at 77. Dignified death is otherwise being witheld. I suppose at 77 we become, what Hitler described as ‘useless eaters’ in the BBC’s brave new world.
Jubilee. The BBC have the spiffing idea of bringing us Punk Britannia. (A special request found in the staff suggestion box signed Messrs Mason and Vine?) Pogoing Dame of the Realm Nicky Campbell asks does this put the ‘Great’ back in Britain or does it all leave you cold?
The BBC just love to act the part of the carping mardy fifth former.
I suppose this ‘anti’ posturing counts as ‘balance’.
Funny I don’t recall much ‘balance’ on some other issues.
For instance –
The advent of the Labour government of 1997,
The Arab Spring,
The Olympics,
Inflation busting rises in the TV Licence,
Multiculturalism,
The Euro,
The NHS,
These are very rarely citicised on the Beeb instead they are accepted as generally good things.
I see the BBC World News ‘Dateline’ programme has the wretched Polly Toynbee on yet again and that she is allowed a platform to spew forth her anti-monarchy views. As if that wasn’t enough, the chairman offers that this week has been extraordinary in that George Osbourne has indulged in various budget U-turns, thus allowing Toynbee yet another opportunity to launch into yet another left-wing diatribe. All without batting an eyelid, as if Toynbee’s views were shared by everyone – well they are at the BBC. Dreadful stuff.

Mark Mardell just tweeted his opinion on abortion:
Life in prison for attempted suicide?
