A Biased BBC reader draws our attention to this!
“BBC “News” At One was reporting Amnesty International’s disapproval of the UN Security Council (UNSC) lack of action on Syria. Behind Sophie Raworth as she introduced the piece appeared the Amnesty International emblem together with an emblem from UNSC. The only problem was this was not the United Nations Security Council’s emblem, it was an emblem of the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) taken from the smash-hit computer game series “Halo” !!!
Story at The Register with link to YouTube on that page showing the clip. A possible explanation as to how the error occurred appears in The Register article:
“The blunder appears to be the result of a botched Google image search: a quick hunt for “UNSC” pulls up a lot of pictures from the interplanetary epic, but not many of the real security council. It is possible that the BBC image researcher has not played Halo.”
And after looking at that video I then came across this one which shows a “live” broadcast from Libya during the toppling of Gaddafi. Except the broadcast of the Green Square in Tripoli happened to be coming from India as mentioned in a reply on the BBC News editor’s blog:

Such mistakes are very rare?? Last year the BBC showed pictures from India and claimed it was live footage of Libyans celebrating the fall of Tripoli! Incredible how we have to pay you money to lie to us.

And Dez complains no one is checking the likes of Biased BBC!”
David, it is reports like this that justify all your efforts to bring the bbc’s failings to a wider audience. Well done to you and all your colleagues and co-monitors. The bbc will eventually eat itself with no need for outside help.

‘as mentioned in a reply on the BBC News editor’s blog’
Closed pretty quick too, as yet another ‘we even get getting it about wrong about right’ Editor’s puff piece starts badly in the comments and then spirals downhill.

Awesome. Which very, very young production assistant earning very, very low wages doesn’t know what a UN logo looks like? Now, I’d understand it if in a moment under the influence of some party drug they mistook the United Federation of Planets logo for it, since it was at least based on the UN one. But come on. Who does a search for just the initials and doesn’t notice all the sci-fi military stuff and images of the Master Chief? This is the result of poor hiring practices.

I also have noticed a real deterioration in quality of research and technical competencies.
The number of cock-ups and crashes on the Today show as well as PM is way beyond any self-respecting hospital radio.
Best not tell them just how continually rushed, gobshitish and dim they all are-they`ll only blame the cuts and want yet more money from us.
Best just to laugh and listen to Steve Wright in the Afternoon-more political sense out of this New Cross Wonder than any amount of prep school Today tripe.
Once I used to be disgusted…altogether now!

“Such mistakes are very rare??”
And to prove they’re not rare: here’s a 30 second clip from something at 6.45am ten months ago!

Dez, you truly are a BBC DROID! In typical BBC style you bias your comment using omissions.
Why did you not refer to the most recent error, the UNSC one?
Your BBC DNA is there for all to see.
