The BBC’s sport correspondent, Gary Richardson, has been accused of being biased by the ‘Unions’ for calling border staff strikers a ‘disgrace’ and suggesting they should be sacked.
Richardson is normally quite ‘in your face’ as an interviewer but certainly he did say the strikers were a disgrace and it did seem a personal statement…..as to the rest you make your own mind up, (45 mins).
The unions were strangely quiet when Victoria Derbyshire’s show gave support to strikers and was ramping up the rhetoric with calls for general strikes.
Finally Richardson asks Jeremy Hunt why he thinks this will be the best Olympic Games ever…and Richardson says he has already seen good reviews of the Games ..mostly by foreign journalists…..and not the BBC did he mean?
Richardson is one of the few straightforward people at the BBC. His sports summaries at the half-hour on the Today programme are concise – even if his daily racing tips are lousy.
Typical fascism by the Union to seek his sacking.

I worked with the very young Garry when he first arrived at the BBC. He was at BBC Radio oxford and filled in shifts at Bristol. He is stand-up guy, Hope the Beeb stands by him.

Garry Richardson has used this method of questioning for years.
He tries to goad interviewees into a slip and then grab the headlines for his scoop.
I’ve always regarded it as unprofessional but the BBC has let him get away with it.
As this line of questioning is invariably directed at what BBC types perceive as a ‘right wing’ interviewee, this is why the’ve turned a blind eye to it for so long – in my opinioin.
For a Lefty Union to moan about it is hilarious as they’ve totally missed the point.
Priceless !

Sounds to me like a classic BBC/labour/union stitch up,Richardson goads Hunt,Hunt is supposed to rise to the goading, union/labour happy,BBC job done.Unfortunately for BBC/Labour/union,Hunt refuses to be goaded so union accusses BBC of being Fox News(if only)how can they be biased towards the left when they are accussed of being biased towards the right,BBC happy,union/ labour job done, they must take us for fools

Sport and left-wing politics are an awkward mix.
BBC 5 Live do their best to combine the two themes.
This morning Nicky Campbell and Rachel Burden present a template BBC report on Bradley Wiggins. They were very late to the game in talking about the Tour De France but then make up for it by going over the top. I expect the word ‘Sky’ stuck in the throat. Still at least this British victory can be presented as a curtain raiser for the BBC Olympics! And guess what….we have a little report on how the Velodrome where Bradley cycled as a lad…
‘is under threat’
Meanwhile Jonathan Agnew knows how to tailor his cricket reports for BBC 5 Live. South African cricket success at the Oval is down to the racial quota system we are told. Not the flat and lifeless wicket then?

I was impressed with Gavin Esler’s tough questioning of a PCS union rep on Newsnight last week.
Respect where due.
I think Mark Swastika may regret this one.

To listen to the BBC you would be excused if you thought they didn’t live in the U.K. at all, with their constant and unrelenting negative coverage of everything from the traffic (which of course will be gridlocked at some times with thousands of visitors) to the security (flogged to death with constant reminders) to cost and downright insults to the IOC chief because he is staying in a decent hotel.
I was wondering who they represent.
