Say It Ain’t So!

Did he walk or was he pushed?

Parting words from Richard Black:

Farewell and thanks for reading

This is my last entry for this page – I’m leaving the BBC to work, initially, on ocean conservation issues.

While this page will no longer be updated, it will stay here for reference.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my blog down the years – I’ve enjoyed writing it, and have appreciated your comments.

To keep up to date with news and views about the environment, I hope you’ll keep reading the science and environment pages of the BBC News website, and my science correspondent colleagues Jonathan Amos and David Shukman.

Whether Mr Black was ‘pushed’ or not, I sincerely hope the BBC find a replacement with a genuine wish to report all the facts on climate change issues. Mr Black seemed most of the time to be less than transparent, given more often to cheerleading his CAGW choir than to accurately reporting all points of view.

Of course, it’s far too much to hope for that the BBC will appoint anyone who isn’t an approved ‘on-message’ apparatchik – and with the likes of Harribin and Shukman still calling the shots I harbour very little optimism (if any) that honest, factual climate reporting can restart any time soon in The Corporation.

It was just the shadow of a thought…nothing more.

I like how Black made sure to use the qualifier, “initially”. He knows damn well what he’ll be doing in the future, but for some reason won’t say it here. Nobody can honestly believe that he doesn’t already some fat paycheck lined up from a Warmist think tank or activist organization. He just can’t – or won’t – say it here because it would be easy fodder for his accusers.

But I notice Black does seem to be allowed to say that he’s going to work on a cause, which begs the question of whether or not his reporting was informed by his support for that cause. I guess because he’s not a political reporter it’s okay.

The minute I saw that ‘initially’ my BS meter went off the dial.
And for a non-political reporter then in the employ of Helen’s genetic perfection squad his tweets seemed fairly… ‘political’

I agree with all the comments above, re:Black but does anyone seriously believe that his replacement will be anything other than just another BBC global warmer? Remember, they had that meeting with top climate scientists (er…well..NGO activists) who told them that the science was settled? Then they paid snail expert Prof. Steve Jones to write a report telling them that they needed to give less air time to sceptics (how is that even possible?).
Nope, I think you find that their reporting on Global Warming is already “just about right”.

Seeing as how they let Black lecture at the BBC College of Journalism on “Impartiality and Climate Change” (no: seriously), I wonder if he gets to hand-pick his successor. Just to make sure he or she or (insert appropriate transgender pronoun here) is equally “impartial”, of course.

Of course, there should be NO replacement for the high-cost greenie propagandist Black.

The Beeboid black arts, high-cost ‘Environment’ dept should be closed down forthwith, not allowed to continue as an anti-fracking unit.

The post is Environment Correspondent. It doesn’t follow that they have to be a warmist, though I would love to be a fly on the wall when candidates are questioned about “The Settled Science”.
“Are you now or have you ever been … ummm … Gosh is it me, or is it very warm in here?”

if dick the prick ends up working for the stakeholder forum, or any other political presure group for that matter, Al Beeb should appologise to the country for employing him in the first place and promise never to make the same mistakes again by employing people without relevant qualifications

Rechard Black is one of a kind. It is highly improbable that the BBC will mange to find some one of his calibre to replace him.

Such small bores no longer exist. Thankfully.

So we`re now left with a big hole in the ozone layer of truth, now that Black has gone!
Wonder if we could plug that hole by sending the likes of Black and Harrabin up there in a well targetted air balloon?
Filled forever with their own flatulence, vacuous platitudes and posturings…so no need to waste any carbon on the operation.
I`d pay to watch it anyway!…

Egypt, Islam and the Oppression of Women.

Note how Islam Not BBC (INBBC)’s Ms BELL censors her critique and her language in relegating the role of Islam in the oppressive behaviour of many Muslim men towards women.

It’s as though Mr Bell is oblivious to the significant output
of the ‘Bulletin of the Oppression of Women’ (she certainly doesn’t acknowledge it).

    So, for INBBC’s Ms Bell:-

1.)” The Arab Spring Has Become the Winter of Discontent for Muslim Women”

2.)”Sexual Harassment of Women on the Rise in Egypt: Heading Toward the Burka?”

3.)”Egyptian Women Worried About Sexual Attacks During Eid Holiday”

4.)”U.S. Ignores the Plight of Christian Women in Egypt”

I just hope we can have some even handed reporting. In fact if an issue is so called “settled “then you should have someone who does not accept that point of view and challenges it all the way.

Perhaps this might lead to a significant change in how the BBC covers environmental matters. Oh, wait…
