A Biased BBC reader brings this to our attention…
“Take a listen to this:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/globalnews#playepisode3 especially at 4.00 mins in. Lyse Douchet says that Ahmadinejad is “quite uncontroversial…quite Messianic…” as if that’s quite OK. Does she realise the apocalyptic views behind his “being Messianic”? (Hint – he wants to wipe the country where another Messiah hailed from “off the face” of the Earth) Just imagine if the Archbishop of Canterbury were PM and did the same thing?
And WE are paying the wages of this stupid woman!
you couldn’t make it up.

Douglas Murray is far more interesting here , gets a bit carried away, but closer to the mark:

Your license fee is not compulsory, you do have the option to not watch live TV. You do not need a TV license to own a TV, only if the TV is set up to receive live broadcasts. Watching DVDs, playing computer games or watching your old VHS tape recordings does not require a TV license. You can even watch programes form BBC iplayer and other internet catch-up services perfectly legally without a TV license . Watching live TV over the internet does require a license.

Do these mystical televisions exist?

It’s not too technical. Take a deep breath- If the TV is not connected to an aerial and is de-tuned it will not receive live broadcasts.

What is Lyse Doucet chuntering on about?
She reckons the man is both ‘uncontroversial’ and ‘Messianic’.
One of those regular easy going middle-of-the-road Messiahs then?
The trouble here is a typically BBC.
They try to balance their view somewhere between those of their supposed Limp-Dem-minded target audience and a hardline Islamiscist.
The only people likely to be offended by such lame all-bases-covered idiocy are ordinary sensible conservative Britons. So obviously a Beeboid doesn’t care about that.

Bowen tweeted more quotes from Ahmadimjiahdi’s speech than any US Beeboid did from the President’s convention speech. And that takes quite an effort.

Armer dinner Chad is simply a swivel eyed maniac who in the event of obtaining nuclear missiles will make all of our lives a misery and quite possibly end a lot of innocent lives too, but hey, to the BBC he’s just some regular guy. Wonder what the response of the cretins would have been if someone had called for the destruction of Iran? Hopefully the mossad will have something cooking right now.

Until now anyone risking attack on them has come a very poor second in the contest.
They are not going to sit idly by waiting for someone to solve the problem of a nuclear Iran.

How nice to live comfortably under western freedom and praise mysoginistic homophobic islamofacist dictators. She’s only thinking of her next, job, at Al Jazeera, with a lot of old bBC chums. The money’s good I am sure. I wonder how she would feel about a call to wipe Lyse Doucet off the map.

Douset is one of those guilt-ridden white colonials like Hain , that hates the mother country;but gets one hell of a living out of it using the public purse.
Hate this woman-heard her on the predictions for 2012, and she just cannot be more wrong on anything….another Muslim lover and useful idiot who`d never have cut it in Canada¬

The main problem is that Doucet described Ahmadimjihadi’s rhetoric about needing a “New World Order” and “justice” and freedom from control by a few rich countries as “uncontroversial”. In other words, she agrees with him.
I’d wager this attitude is widely shared among BBC staff. No wonder they all view Iran as slightly problematic but Israel as the true evil presence and cause of all our ills.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to hear immediately after this a segment about the Jews who were forced to flee Arab countries in 1948. This is something the BBC generally censors or downplays, but reality – Israel making a cheeky call for the Jewish refugees’ “right of return” – has happily forced them to acknowledge it, even in this remote corner of BBC broadcasting. Naturally the BBC had to make sure nobody got the idea that Jews were victims of any kind by contrasting them with poor Palestinian “refugees” with their symbolic keys, living in hovels, etc. Whew, that was a close on – the audience was nearly tempted to sympathize with the Jews for a millisecond.
Conclusion: this latest tactic from Israel is “another obstacle to peace”. Some Palestinian mouthpiece says this harms the effort for a two-state solution, but I laughed out loud because we know that’s not what they really want. Too bad the BBC can’t admit it.

Just one problem with this thread….It wasn’t Lyse Doucet. It was Barbara Plett. (Listen at 5:32)

That explains it even more, then.

Dunno, I’ve gone through that recording and I’ve heard nothing at all from Doucet or Plett. At 01:45 a guy from the National Iranian-American Council speaks and at 04:00 they move on to the Neil Heywood murder case in China. That goes through to 09:10 and then they’re off to Mars.
So have I missed something here or have they censored Plett/Doucet out of that clip? And if so, why?
In tne introduction, they said Netanyahu used a “crude” diagram of a bomb to illustrate his point. I doubt they were using “crude” here in the sense that they used it over and over to describe Kassam rockets falling on Israel from Gaza.
Another thing: They played a few clips of a forensic scientist on the Neil Heywood case, but couldn’t bring themselves to have the voice of the tough, well-spoken Israeli PM making the case for Israel on their precious report.
Propagandist scum.

Are you listening to the right podcast? Sept. 27. “Middle East focus at UN”. It’s definitely Barbara “Tears” Plett who found the call for a New World Order and a weakening of the US “uncontroversial”.

Thanks, David Preiser. I was pretty sure I was listening to the program linked to above. I’ll try again.

Ah yes, I’m on the right programme now, thanks. I can see why Plett was mistaken for Doucet. It seems she’s starting to sound quite similar to her with the carefully- rounded vowels. Could be she’s modelling herself on Doucet. Either that, or they got it wrong and that actually was Doucet.

Listening now to Yolande Knell, if that’s how you spell it, attempting to discuss Jewish refugees from Arab countries. Whichever shmuck introduced the programme said Israel is muddying the waters of the peace process – by introducing the question of these refugees. Well, at least Knell started off by playing clips of refugees telling their stories, like the elderly guy from Iraq, who said they hated the Jews and burned their houses and killed them. True, and there are now a pitiful handful of remaining Jews in Iraq, perhaps a dozen.
Reminds me of a World Have Your Say programme a few years back on the same subjuect – probably the first time the World Service had ever reported on Jewish refugees. Claire Bolderson was part-hosting it, and she responded to an observation by a guest about the plight of those Jews by indignantly exclaiming that that was different – in other words, don’t mess with the Palestinian victimhood narrative, because it’s sacred.

Crumbs, this comment system is a mess. If I type more than a paragraph or so, the text scrolls all by itself up to the beginning again and I can’t see what I’m typing. And it wont let me scroll down again but keeps going back up.
Been like this for ages, but now it’s worse because the computer hangs when I click on Post Comment. What’s going on?!

How about writing your piece in something like MS Word first, then just copy and paste the text into the dialogue box on here? Haven’t tried it myself and no I am not on commission to MS! Go ahead give it a try.

Knell then played a clip of Danny Ayalon presenting the Israeli point of view – that the issues of both sides’ refugees must be resolved, then she played a clip of elderly Arabs who left in 1948 (I guess she must have been amazed they didn’t say they were forced out) first introducing the clip by saying there are Arabs who want to return. Funny thing is (or perhaps not so funny) that she made no mention of Jews wanting to return to Arab countries. I guess that must be that Knell realises that the Arabs would never have them back. Also, of course, it exposes the difference in the status of these refugees. Israel took most of the Jews from Arab countries but no Arab cuntry will give the Palestinians rights and citizenship.
