One of the directives at the BBC – one which is quietly, but no less rigorously persued than the regular entertain inform and educate – is to normalise mass immigration.

Little snippets of polemic are put out there by the BBC – just ready for the left to pick up as their talking points.

So tucked away within 100 interesting facts we have

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16853368

‘Go Figure: When was the real baby boom?’

And the BBC answer is 1920.

When the population was 40 million, mind you. So the fact that the BBC is talking here about live births as a percentage per population rather in absolute numbers makes this a bit of a statistical trick.

Still, the report does the job and in the comments a lefty comes along who talks just like the BBC:

    a) doesn’t want to talk about immigration
    b) does a quick frightener that there are too many old people
    c) takes a high five to the public services
    d) reassures us that all will be well at some time time in the future.

People always talk of a population explosion, but these figures show that this is not due to increased births, (the figures in 2001 are approx 200,000 lower than in 1911), it is that people are living longer due to better healthcare and health education. If there no more spikes or dips, the population will likely level out in about 40 or 50 years.

“So the fact that the BBC is talking here about live births as a percentage per population rather in absolute numbers makes this a bit of a statistical trick.” ………………… Both the article and the graphs accompanying it talk about the actual number of births and makes no mention of births as a % of population.

As the population was less in 1920 than 2010 and actual births in 2010 were fewer than 1920 then as a % of population 1920 would still be the higher figure.

For once, I think Jim is right.

What is interesting, in the context of matters B-BBC at any rate, is that Mrs Thatcher comes out of this far, far better than the Guardian/BBC view would allow.

It may be an excess of mulled wine-inspired goodwill at one or both sides of the divide, but there’s either a mellowing in his tone or my tolerance levels, the meds are keeping his dark side at bay, or the evil twin is off on Xmas hols in N. Korea.
Because Jim’s chippin-ins of late have been at best on point and at worst still polite to a fault.
Of course this does rather serve to place in sharper focus the contributions of the kindergarden duo on Xmas duty while the grown-ups hit the slopes for the skool hols.

While INBBC propagandises today about the opening of a mosque in Athens, INBBC ignores the lack of churches in e.g. Saudi Arabia, and ignores the following:-

“Saudi Arabia: 41 people arrested for ‘plotting to celebrate Christmas'”
