Anyway, the BBC appears to no longer have failed to answer any questions in years. Though this one may not be the most pressing. Even here, though, there is: ‘In accordance with section 1(1) of the Act, we confirm that we do hold the other information within the scope of your Question 1 above. However we consider this information to be exempt from disclosure under section 43(2) of the Act as disclosure would be likely to prejudice the commercial interests of the BBC and/or a third party.’

This blogger also has a nifty snipe at the school hols mentality still pervading in another thread.
An appalling story that highlight the corrupt dynamics within the BBC. So concerned are they to give a false impression of trust and integrity to the public, that when someone within the organisation discovers somebody else was guilty of fraud, they preferred to hush it up, and threatened jail to the person revealing the fraud if he made this news public.
This would also explain why even though BBC staff were aware of Savile’s indiscretions and abuse, that nobody was prepared to speak out about it, and the BBC were content to let it continue rather than draw negative attention towards themselves.
If the government really doesn’t comprehend why this kind of publicly funded organisation has the dynamics it has, and why it will never serve the public properly, and subsequently terminate the licence fee, then it never will.
One can only wonder how many more such scandals lie beneath the surface, that the BBC are hoping will remain that way. How many more have to come to the light before action will be taken?
Melanie Phillips comes to it by showing other examples, as well as the BBC’s, that share similar traits.

The bBC, its hatred of the British and how it re-writes history to serve its cause: Irish daredevil Egypt these days is more intent on eradicating symbols of the past than honouring them. So there is little prospect of a largely forgotten Irishman Francis (Frank) McClean ever being hailed there for his extraordinary feat a century ago that heralded Egypt’s golden age of aviation. McClean, born in England to well-to-do Irish parents in 1876
Irishman bBC? Here what the bBC has to say about another famous Irishman: BBC – History – Duke of Wellington http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/historic_figures/wellington_duke_of.shtml Read a biography about the Duke of Wellington – the British general who defeated Napoleon and was twice British prime minister
Born in Dublin but according to the bBC, he wasn’t Irish.
The Irish consider him Irish. To be fair most of the great British Generals were Irish, Wellington, Kitchener and Montgomery. The only decent general the English ever produced was John Churchill.
I laughed this morning listening to the Today programme. Evan Davis was reading out one of Beppe Grillo’s jokes from the Wikipedia page:
In 1987 during the Saturday night TV show Fantastico 7, he attacked the Italian Socialist Party and its leader Bettino Craxi, then Italy’s Prime Minister, on the occasion of his visit in the People’s Republic of China. The joke was:
A member of the Italian Socialist Party asked Craxi: “If the Chinese are all socialists, whom do they steal from”?
Davis was scandalised by this and clearly thought it was vulgar in the extreme. I on the other hand thought it was very funny indeed and am still chuckling as I recall the moment.
It has already been discussed here how Bacon’s interview with ageing rocker Johnny Marr revealed how the former Smiths guitarist’s anti-David Cameron remarks had booking editors across the BBC from QT to Newsnight scrambling to get him on their shows.
The point of note here is the way that Beeboids and Bacon in particular are so desperate to have their hero on side politically. Bacon pushed Marr to agreee with the idea that his music was ‘working class’. Marr – quite sensibly – was a little evasive.
The Smiths were of course the very archetype STUDENT band.
Morissey’s angsty self-obsessed whining and his memorable appearance on TOTP with hearing aide and bunch of flowers down the back of his trousers were hardly the marks of a working class pop movement.
The Smiths never had a single that charter higher than number 10 and would open shows with Sergei Prokofiev’s Montagues and Capulets.
Definitely “Gown” and definitely not “Town”.
But how revealing of Bacon’s archetypal Beeboid background and thinking – the public school lefty playing at being working class.
Bacon is on safer ground with Johnny Marr. He might find Morrissey a little too hot to handle, with songs like ‘We’ll Let you Know’:
We may seem cold, or
We may even be
The most depressing people you’ve ever known
At heart, what’s left, we sadly know
That we are the last truly British people you’ll ever know
“BBC issues nine-page health and safety report warning of ‘dangers’ ahead of EastEnders episode filmed in a park in Watford.
“One warning tells of dangers of pregnant women working with sheep.
“Another offers advice on what to do to keep warm.
“BBC says document covers block of filming not just one episode.”
By RICHARD HARTLEY-PARKINSON
The bBBC continues its Hillsborough campaign, and doesn’t see the irony in reporting a senior policeman’s view that “I just have the feeling that the media ‘machine’ favours the families and not us”.
He also dared to say that “their version of certain events has become ‘the truth’ even though it isn’t!!”. Those of us who live in NorthWest England have become accustomed to the bBBC’s propaganda: there were only 96 Liverpool supporters in Leppings Lane at Hillsborough, minding their own business until Mrs Thatcher ordered the South Yorkshire Police to push them against the fence.
Arghhhhh you mentioned the H word (or rather the location beginning with H) and that is event went down the memory hole a long time ago. Its the salt mines for you my friend.
The fact that this event (which never happened) might show that the Liverpool “fans” have previous for crushing people is neither here nor there.
On the Today programme this morning, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of ‘South Park’ cartoons were interviewed by John Humphrys. This was in respect of the stage musical “The Book of Mormon”, which sets out to satirise, criticise, and generally villify the religion in the title. Humphrys did mention that the musical contained episodes featuring props like giant penises, and events of baby rape, amongst other items not considered suitable for broadcasting at that time of day. Nice.
Mr Humphrys pointed out that it was probably picking on an easy target – a western, minority religion with no real likelihood of a severe backlash – as opposed to, say (and he said it, not me) Islam. In response, Parker and Stone tried to say that they had already given the same treatment to Islam. Now, forgive me for forgetting, but I don’t remember a major musical stage show written by these two, travelling the globe and lampooning and satirising Islam, nor the inevitably ensuing death fatwa against these two issued to all of Islam for such blasphemy.
I do recall a couple of mentions in ‘South Park’ with some minor comment on Islam, but also seem to remember that one of the programmes’ references was changed as a result of apparent indignation by Muslims. If that is their sole claim regarding having ‘done the same to Islam as Mormonism’, then it really is a paltry claim.
Apart from the hypocrisy of Parker and Stone, what really galls is that Humphrys, before the interview, must have been able to do his research and press these two ‘luvvies’ further on this issue, to make it clear that there was no real comparison, and they had been totally cowardly in their tiny references to Islam, compared to the gross nature of this musical they are touting around the world.
I’d dare them to show the same ‘fortitude’ in satirising Islam – but there’s no chance of that happening, nor of the BBC publicising it. The BBC continues its policy of not conducting proper research into those things it should, devoting all of its efforts in research to directly or indirectly favour its friends on the ‘left’ of politics.
So basically, it’s Humphrys’ fault that in a 6 minute interview, he concentrated his questions to the creators of a musical were about the work they created? What a cad.
Nope – for the hard of thinking, Scott, the whole point of my post was that Humphrys actually made a very good point, and got swept aside by, basically a lie, which, if he’d done his homework (as he should have done), he could have pursued for more than 3 seconds in a 6-minute interview. He could easily have made the hypocrisy of these two more clear…. but then, that’s what the BBC does with luvvies and lefties – allows itself to be ridden roughshod over, even when there is a very valid point regarding the ‘media’ hypocrisy over its different and diffident treatment of Islam, compared to other religions.
Richard the racist bigot remark was aimed at Scott who while happy to refer to people who don’t agree with his POV of love thy fellow man, has no problem referring to me as an elephant boy becasue of the colour of my skin.
No problem. When reading threads, I am very careful to see where posts line up with others. Yours was fine, it wasn’t a reply to mine. However…..I am a bit guilty myself of sometimes posting against the opening post, rather than the replies I wish to….. so I understand where you’re coming from….
I had no idea that ‘real’ posters would think twice about skin colour on here. I am sorry to hear that you may be being treated in that way.
Very mature. I suppose this is another of Biased BBC commenters’ “it’s not ad hominem if we say it, and that’s in no way a double standard because we have no standards” comments?
why don’t you just save yourself the trouble of logging on and coming here to be offended *sniff sniff*
just buy yourself a whip-or maybe you already have one in your village person wardrobe-and flagellate yourself while at the same time saving on the electric bill
‘ immature souls who fling abuse around’
You know how you’re big on everyone going on record when someone you’ve been needling you think has gone too far and needs to be given the pod-people treatment?
Just to confirm… that’s on a uni-directional, selective basis, right?
At a discrete distance, mind.
Guessing this collection of drive-by, point-less responses at me across the board are just you and your 3 pulling a Thermopylae then?
Pounce can do what he does. Along with ‘the like’. If I like what they have posted I add my thumbs up. If I don’t, I don’t.
You talking about immature souls, adults and abuse simply attracted me to yet another selective irony-alert victim joker being played.
Stop posting such nonsense and what is behind you may be more to your liking.
They’ve never given Islam the full treatment like they have Mormons and Scientology, or even Judaism. There has never been a full episode dedicated to it, like they have with the others. Actually, the first time Mohammed appeared in a South Park episode, it was as part of the “Super Best Friends” (a take off on the old Super Friends cartoon from the 70s), a team of religious figures including the Buddha, Jesus, and even Joseph Smith. Great episode making fun of cult behavior and David Blaine, actually. Mohammed was drawn and shown just as normal as everyone else, no pixelating the face, no big deal at all. He was just another member of the group and that was it. There was no outcry at all. Mohammed is also clearly visible in the crowd shot in the opening credits for that season, but nobody seems to have noticed.
Years later, Comedy Central (Viacom) forced them to censor that episode in repeats, and then wouldn’t even let them show Mohammed at all in another episode they made, ‘200’ (a two-parter, with ‘201’). They couldn’t even show Mohammed in a bear suit, fully covered. Now they won’t even show it, period. Again, there was no intent to make fun of the religion at all: they just wanted to stick it to the extremists and show his face, and that was it. Verboten, of course. Not very brave at all, but they did demonstrate the cowardice of the media luvvies who run the industry. At most they were making a stand against what Huw Edwards has referred to as a “less nuanced” reaction from Mohammedans about even the slightest thing.
I give them credit for that, but to claim they’ve given Islam the same treatment they give Mormonism is an absolute lie. Humphrys wasn’t there to do anything other than a softball interview, though, so he left it alone. Asking the question itself was job done. Getting a real answer is beside the point.
The thing is, the Mormon musical, which I have not seen, is – according to actual Mormons I know who have seen it – leaves the audience with the same message as the TV episode on which it’s based: no matter how dopey you think their religion is, they tend to turn out decent, hard-working citizens, the kind we’d all want as our neighbors.
ITV are reporting that there will be another strike ballot at the BBBC:
“Thousands of BBC journalists and technical staff will be balloted for strikes in a row over jobs, workload and stress, the NUJ and Bectu trade unions announced today.”
To be fair, it must be difficult reading the Guardian from front to back ….. every – single – day…….
Their last strike was such a resounding success that I can only wish them joy of their next one.
In fact, were it possible, I would move that this web site site send them our fraternal support.
Here’s how BBC-NUJ branches behaved one their last strike (last week!):-
“Non-strikers face Twitter tirade: Militant unionists attack BBC reporters who crossed the picket line.
“Dozens of unionists organised a ‘scabwatch’ and abused non-strikers .
“Repeats replaced some shows cancelled due to the strike.
“The action was called by the NUJ in protest at compulsory redundancies.”
By ALASDAIR GLENNIE
Too bad they’re not striking over all the sexual harassment and bullying, and all the corrupt top brass keeping their jobs or being shifted sideways. The public might be a little more sympathetic.
David, let me ‘enhance’ that for you: ‘Too bad they’re not striking over all the XXXXX and XXXXXX, and all the XXXXX top brass XXXXX or being XXXXXX.’
Now it could almost be a BBC press release.
Just heard the 2nd of Nick Robinsons account of Churchills battle to get from the BBC in the run up to war.
A few things struck me…and wondered if the bean counting tendency here( especially our critics, but you know-Craig used to do it, and the BBC hate “evidence” as we know)
1. Is there any chance of us hearing anything from a historian( one Jean Seaton…Dame by now I`m sure!) who is not the “officially-approved, licensed, employed creature of the BBC that her job title would lead ME to worry about?
2. Guy Burgess rather briefly glossed over, didn`t quite catch how much the BBC used him and his work…didn`t quite catch who he spied for. Did I miss that I ask?…but I think we`ll know what the answer is.
3. No real mention of the German perspective…I guess the Nazis were all Austrians, let`s not mention the unpleasantness, or inded the war.
Any reason why Labour appeasers etc were left out, there were rather alot of them.
Seems though that they were “all in it together”, no scapegoats, names or blame to be attached. We are where we are…familiar?
And did Nick REALLY say it was the appeasers that had a hard time through the 30s in getting their side put across?
Think I`m wrong here-it`s early in the show.
If he did say that he`s stuffed, but let`s be charitable and say that the difference between my digital and VHF might have covered it…in which case no further Qs.
Isn`t that how low the BBC have sunk…when you don`t even think that they`d tell us the truth about something so recent and obvious.
QED.
How the bBC publishes protest posters in which to keep joe public in the dark about just who his protesting: Birmingham City Council budget meeting halted by protesters Protesters have halted a meeting as Birmingham City Council discusses its annual budget. Up to 1,000 jobs are likely to be cut by the authority over two years under a £102m savings plan. The meeting was adjourned while protesters were cleared. One man had jumped over the public gallery into the main chamber, shouting “shame on you”.
How curious that they have two versions of those placards. Why, it’s almost as if it was coordinated for media consumption. Any Beeboid tweets about this?
And I’m pretty much at the point where any time I see something with people wearing that damn Guy Fawkes mask, it’s a sign that it’s not worthy of respect (pace Paul Staines and Alan Moore).
Oops – sorry for not thinking ‘Left’ …..I automatically looked for the ‘Newer Comments’ on the Right, and didn’t think of looking for the ‘Older comments’ Thanks, and apologies for the error.
Hard to predict which way the Review Show will go. May be it will be left out on a limb to die quietly. There is a hint that it will dumb down.
The problem is that it has become a lefty-fest. Politics and the arts don’t mix that well. Those who want their politics literally red in tooth and claw watch Newsnight then turn in and are, I suspect, rather philistine at heart.
“David Cameron: Migrants will be banned from automatic legal aid in the UK.
“David Cameron has pledged to make the UK the ‘toughest’ country on benefits for foreign migrants.”
We shall see; but isn’t it at this point that Beeboids contact their political chum, S Chakrabarti in preparation for their pro-mass immigration assault?
BBC News at Ten reporting that a report has uncovered that the Met have been ‘strong-arming’ women into withdrawing rape and sexual assault allegations, the purpose being to ‘improve’ their detection rates.
Much hand wringing and concern that crimes against women have not been taken seriously (take note Polly Toynbee, now seemingly a paid up misogynist – the Lib Dem disclosures aren’t, as you suggest a stink cooked up by the Tories – they were real complaints from real women who you belittled with your conspiracy theory).
BBC News find a woman who is unhappy with the Met following her complain in 2011; Channel 4 News invite a Labour MP along to join in the outrage.
The BBC though, fail to point out (and Channel 4 news fail to challenge the Labour MP) that all of this took place between 2007 – 2009.
More wilful blindness. Strange that!
In this strange ‘analysis’, and what is, in effect ,propaganda for Al Qaeda, INBBC’s DOYLE appears to present Al Qaeda (AQIM version) as ‘moderate’, in contrast to what Doyle (and AQIM) appears to think are ‘Islamist’ hotheads trying to impose Sharia law too quickly!
So confused is Doyle’s message that he fails to designate all the Islamic outfits he mentions as the JIHADISTS they are, and as the enemy to the West (and the Malian people) they are.
Newsnight special on Iraq, had Tony Blair and Charlie Kennedy as well as a gaggle of BBC types a woman from Prospect and one from LSE. Did not see any Tories.
“Of course, the BBC report here doesn’t overtly state it. But it leads the horse to the water…
…Did you see what happened there? Blink and you may have missed it. In fact, many of the millions of people who consume BBC reports such as this do indeed miss such things. Instead, their worldview is shaped by this passive propaganda.
07:20 Breakfast TV it’s alcohol again. A discrepancy between alcohol sales and what people say they drink in surveys.
Bets on when the next alcohol/ fatty foods / fizzy drink story is on.
‘Bets on when the next alcohol/ fatty foods / fizzy drink story is on.’
—-
Well, come the next election, as BBC corridor floor coverings maybe not.
But then, depending on the BBC’s support for the finger-wag du jour, or not, it can often be a case of being a ‘different time’. Or not. It can vary.
Maybe the Beeboid Champagne Socialists don’t drink it, but run baths for each other?
Asses’ milk is sooo last hypocrisy.
‘Incoherent ramblings! Take your pill and then get into normal abusive mode. There’s a good boy.’
Can’t give it a like, but certainly worth reposting.
If only for the irony value of ‘normal abusive mode’.
How’s the new ‘avoid the argument & play the person’ strategy going for you all again?

In 1987 during the Saturday night TV show Fantastico 7, he attacked the Italian Socialist Party and its leader Bettino Craxi, then Italy’s Prime Minister, on the occasion of his visit in the People’s Republic of China. The joke was:
A member of the Italian Socialist Party asked Craxi: “If the Chinese are all socialists, whom do they steal from”?
Davis was scandalised by this and clearly thought it was vulgar in the extreme. I on the other hand thought it was very funny indeed and am still chuckling as I recall the moment.

Richard Bacon shows his true Beeboid colours.

Quite. No mention at all from the Beeboid of the Smiths ‘hideous whiteness’.

And Thatcher also ordered those Liverpool fans to crush them Italian fans to death at Heysel.

QED.

How the bBC publishes protest posters in which to keep joe public in the dark about just who his protesting:
Birmingham City Council budget meeting halted by protesters
Protesters have halted a meeting as Birmingham City Council discusses its annual budget. Up to 1,000 jobs are likely to be cut by the authority over two years under a £102m savings plan. The meeting was adjourned while protesters were cleared. One man had jumped over the public gallery into the main chamber, shouting “shame on you”.
The bBC reports on a protest story but do have a look at the photo the bBC use .

“Mali Islamists warned about Sharia in al-Qaeda ‘manifesto'”

In this strange ‘analysis’, and what is, in effect ,propaganda for Al Qaeda, INBBC’s DOYLE appears to present Al Qaeda (AQIM version) as ‘moderate’, in contrast to what Doyle (and AQIM) appears to think are ‘Islamist’ hotheads trying to impose Sharia law too quickly!
So confused is Doyle’s message that he fails to designate all the Islamic outfits he mentions as the JIHADISTS they are, and as the enemy to the West (and the Malian people) they are.
