Using the term ‘shot’ as an attention grabbing headline and in particular ‘shot in the head’ in the first paragraph, is an attempt to manipulate the way a reader views this report……’shot’ gives the impression of extreme violence intended to kill……when the fact is the man was hit by a rubber bullet in a violent ‘protest’ as the BBC later points out.
But the heading and first paragraph have already done the damage by misrepresenting the facts and suggesting the Israelis were using metal bullets and not the entirely different, though still dangerous, rubber bullet.
Shot Palestinian Mohammed Asfour dies in hospital
A Palestinian shot in the head by Israeli soldiers during a confrontation with stone-throwers has died of his wounds, hospital officials say.
Mohammed Asfour, 22 was hit by a rubber bullet during the protest in the West Bank village of Aboud on 22 February.
You really are a laugh!
Rubber bullets are fired. Therefore anyone hit by one is shot.
Of course if you had any knowledge of the English language you would know this. PLUS every news story involving rubber bullet deaths say that the deceased was SHOT.
Good to see you posting more nonsense.

No Colditz, your intentional obtuseness is the laugh. The 3rd paragraph we finally read what should have been either the headline or immediate explanation.
“…was hit by a rubber bullet”. That is correct and as such any impartial news provider , not wishing to mislead, would use this or similar correct term.
Your comment reveals your disingenuousness.

How would one describe the people who found themselves dead from something that happened to them vis-a-vis the Syrian army ? Or is that off message to people like you Coldtits?

Hi Colditz. Your input, and those of your fellow swivel-eyed loons, was sorely missed on the Labour Plant thread. There is still time to comment there and try to justify the QT team’s behaviour.

Morning coldltz,
Technically correct, however in the real world….

I remember in the 80’s when rubber bullets were introduced in NI.
Correct me if I am wrong, but during that time, a lot of documentaries & news programs stated that rubber or “plastic” bullets were fired at the ground, shattered, and the bits sort of ricochet and pepper the rioting numpties with tiny fragments.
Therefore, rioting stone throwing (yes, they are just as deadly as Hamas rockets or a rubber bullet if they hit the intended target Colditz) said numpty was not “shot”, if the Israeli soldier deployed the bullet in the right way, I’d suggest one would have to take aim at the target to “shoot” someone.
He was hit.
Perhaps harmless stone “throwers” should be re classified as “stone shooters”

Finally somebody addressing what a defender of the indefensible actually said, instead of personal insults. Thank you.

think you need to cast your mind back to colditz accusing me of calling for the beheading of beeboids
he has yet to admit he was grossly mistaken
I for one won’t let him forget it

Don’t blame you Mr 1964, if he did something similar to me, I’d make sure I reminded him of it each time his foolish head pokes above the beeboid parapet he cowers behind.
There is being wrong, and admitting it, it makes one stronger, being wrong, and neither apologizing, or even addressing it leaves him quite null and void in all further comments he decides to pour on us, I’m afraid to say.
I’d also be rather interested to find out why he felt the need not to comment on the QT thread, unlike 90% of the others he sprays his salty seed with. (Ditto Scotty & Dezzy)
Still, I guess he’s nothing else to say on this thread either, after he again, leapt in with his size 6’s (I’m being generous) and found himself stood in a large pile of shite.

I’ll support you there, ltwf, but I also feel that too much personal stuff without any actual debate of the issue at hand can cause entire threads to be hijacked and allows defenders of the indefensible to spend time in pointless exchanges and avoid addressing real issues of BBC bias.

Too true David, but there is still always a little time for mud slinging (Should that be shooting?) at Colditz, after what he said about Mr Ltwf.
If you don’t keep on reminding him of what he’s done, he won’t learn nowt, and that’s what we are here for, to educate and inform, and might I say, we do it a damn site better than the BBC does. 😉
Anyway, another thing about “Pally” dude who is now dead…if the numpty wasn’t there, rioting (demonstrating (c) El Beeb) he’d still be alive, if he hadn’t lobbed (shot) rocks at armed soldiers, he’d still be alive.
If I stood there, in Ludlow, lobbing (shooting) rocks at the Welsh, I’d expect a good kicking, or worse, and rightly so.
So, here’s a suggestion to rock lobbing (shooting) “Pallys”
Stop lobbing (shooting) rocks at your better armed neighbors, you are very likely to get hurt, or worse.

There’s a difference between reminding someone they need to address something – which I do myself – and basic name-calling.

On a related matter:
Back during the Israeli ‘Pillar of Storm’ military operation last November, most will recall the BBC picture editor carrying the supposed corpse of his dead child, which he claimed was killed by an Israeli strike on his building.
Now there were a few reasons to think there was something fishy about this story, getting maximum attention for his ‘sorrow’, even changing jumpers in between photos, with the BBC only too willing to show how indiscriminate the Israelis were, and the ‘innocent’ Palestinians murdered by them.
It appears now that the UN Human Rights Council, not usually a friend to Israel, has determined that the missile that hit and killed this child was not fired by Israel. It was actually a Hamas missile that fell way short of its intended target in Israel.
BBC Watch notes that even after 3 days the BBC has still to amend its report which remains active on its website.

I know…it’s disgusting, it should be the lead story on ALL BBC news outlets, after the way Israel were demonized as “Child killers” by the Beeb after this event.
Wouldn’t surprise me if dead “Pally” by rubber bullet was actually killed by his own misfired rock.

The BBC rarely amends reports. They remain on the Internet and serve as ammunition in the public diplomacy wars for ever.
We should be campaigning for an independent BBC ombudsman.

‘’shot’ gives the impression of extreme violence intended to kill’
No, it simply doesn’t. English comprehension not your strong point clearly.
It doesn’t mention who shot him in the headline. It explains he was shot by a rubber bullet at the start of the article. I’d say being shot in the head by a rubber bullet is pretty violent. He died as a result.
I’d love to know who these readers are that only see the headline, dont read any more of the article but still know he was shot by Israel, that it was a metal bullet and he was an innocent.
The article doesnt mention he was a physical education university student either.
I think you forgot to take your medication Alan.
