“And following Amanda Thatcher’s poised bible reading, some are already fantasising about her continuing the political legacy of her grandmother with a lack of shame that might even make a dynastic Gandhi blush.”
So far we have had one Thatcher in parliament, can readers tell me how many generations of the Benn dynasty have been in parliament? On second thoughts don’t its here on wiki….
they overcook it as these sites always do – but in fairness the FBI do want to speak to the two ‘private miltary’ types with black rucksacks. To rule them out by the sound of it.
Did anyone see the BBC News Chanel at just before 6pm on Wednesday evening. Charles Moore was being interviewed, and started to tell the Beeboid how biased the coverage of Mrs Thattcer was. It was a pleasure to watch the Beeboid squirming. Eventually they cut him off. I do hope that someone can post it on the web so that we can all enjoy it. (About 5.50 pm BBC news 17/4/13)
Derek – I think there is already a link to it on the previous Open Thread (certainly somewhere on this site posted yesterday) – Moore really used the opportunity to tell some home truths – maybe if it was a regular contributor to this site they may post the link again (hint).
Yes, I saw this and was about to put up my own comment. He mentioned that the BBC had gathered a string of ‘malcontents’ to come on over the previous week to be interviewed, that this was in itself wrong, but in addition people overseas were mystified as to how the ‘national broadcaster’ could go to such lengths to portray a distorted image when the overseas view of Mrs Thatcher was positive. ‘What is going on?’ he said they were asking him. He was indeed cut off, censored in fact, they will claim ‘running out of time’ but that would be untrue, and it was done with considerable rudeness.
I wonder who it was in the studio who decided to cut off Mr Moore like this, can we find the name?
The BBC repeatedly takes up certain social issues and maintains a morbid interest in altering our opinion.
One of these recurring issues is euthanasia.
Every legal activity by campaigners is given a sympathetic ear by the BBC – which amounts to giving them a publicly funded platform for their campaign.
This morning on BBC 5 Live we are told that the inevitable progression of events will eventually be to allow assisted suicide. Attitudes to abortion are used as a comparison.
In the same way that BBC attitude to the Falkland Islands (ie that we will eventually have to ‘give them back’) is spelt out on another thread here – so the BBC attitude on a range of social issues is that given we are on a ‘progressive’ trajetory then evenually the euthenasia campaigners will get their way.
Well, they will if the BBC have anything to do with it.
The Left are often associated with death camps (see North Korea) because life for them is not sacred – remove that assumption and a whole lot of other consequences follow.
Seems there has been another tragic event in the USA taking innocent lives, this time in Texas.
Between the demands to officials to explain what they have currently no clue upon, and the guesstimating guest expert industry already being booked out to pad out air voids, one can only dread what the MSM is gearing up to given its stellar record of late.
Pulling the TVL and Sky DD’s is getting easier to contemplate each day.
A return to more considered reporting after time taken to investigate and substantiate is looking more attractive, preferably with sensitivities to victims and their relatives.
But that may be from an earlier time.
Thats one brave, brave boy,I wonder how many other ,young, educated moslems think like him but are too frightend (understandably) to speak out.In a way that video is encouraging.
note the al bbc interviewer, on full damage limitation mode :-D.
bbc arabic? can you tell the difference
between that and bbc 1, same mentality, same techniques
Wow, good for him. If more Muslims had the courage to denounce the nasty side of their religion as he does, we could all start to see them in a more positive light.
Listening to the Toady program just before raised a question: given that the NRA is one of America’s largest organisations but the BBC still refers disparagingly to the sinister ‘gun lobby’, just how big would the NRA have to be to be considered a bona fide campaigning group?
In a similar vein, we heard what the Obamamessiah wants and we heard from people who lost kids at Sandy Hook, but the BBC couldn’t find a single member of the sinister lobby to explain why treating the Constitution of the United States as an Etch-A-Sketch might not be a good idea.
Of course, given events in Boston, maybe the US should be looking at the First Amendment, huh? Come to think of it, how does the membership of the supposedly bogus lobbying group the NRA compare with genuine, grass roots campaigns, like Liberty? I bet there’s a few families who lost loved ones on July 7 who don’t dig the whole ‘civil rights’ scam, so when’s the BBC going to interview them, let alone start linking any mention of clamping down on terrorists to July 7.
In relation to the Boston atrocity, I’d like to ask Dave Preiser if all fatal large scale incidents have memorial services organised with, in my opinion, indecent haste as the crime scene is still being investigated and the injured are still being treated in hospital? The one currently being shown on TV new channels just seems to be a photo opportunity for Obama and his awful wife, and various other politicos. I thought the service was in honour of the victims, but all attention was on Obama.
I did see some unintentional humour when the news reader on Sky, Jeremy Thompson, cut from the explosion at the Texas fertiliser factory, with the words “…and now from one American disaster to another…” and up came footage of Obama beginning his “speech” at the Boston memorial service.
I watched the coverage of the funeral of Baroness Thatcher on Sky, they are much better at this sort of thing with Alistair Bruce than the BBC who are meanminded with and seem to dislike such occasions. However, I digress.
I saw the last few moments of the edited version of the BBC coverage with Dimbleby, on BBC2, his final words were ‘she imposed her will on this country’.
‘Imposed her will’. The BBC and Dimbleby disliked Mrs Thatcher and still do. They ‘loathe’ her too and show it as often as they can. But what about these words, do they remind you of a ‘The Triumph of the Will’, and a certain Adolf. Is Dimbleby who is speaking for the BBC and himself attempting a link between Mrs Thatcher and that man. I would not be surprised, the hatred from the Left and from parts of the Establishment has no limit.
Did she not win three elections, did the people not therefore approve of her? Not according to the BBC and Dimbleby.
The BBC is beyond reform, it must be broken up. The entertainment and sport should be separated from the news and current affairs, the latter should be sold or dissolved as individual ‘brands’, and the former should be broken up into units for each of the nations. Each nation could then decide how to finance their operations.
PW, you are right. The BBC is well beyond reform. The problem with reformation is that there has to be a real desire for change. The right wing establishment are content that the the BBC have been consumed by left wing/ liberal zealots, and have no stomach for a fight, as they frightened to death of receiving even worse bad press. We all know that the battle has been lost with regard to BBC recognising critical opinion. To generate any reversal of the stranglehold on the BBC then public opinion needs mobilisation against this biased state funded monolopy. To win the war action such as petitions and public switch off days need to employed to stir this national disgrace into a proper national debate.
I watched Mrs Thatcher’s funeral last night on BBC. Right at the end Dimbleby finished with these words
‘It is the politician rather than the policies that are being commemorated here. The policies with be the subject of controversy for many years to come’…..’she won three elections in a row to impose her will on this country’.
What a mean and nasty way to finish the programme.
I actually thought Mrs Thatcher won three elections in a row to carry out the will of the people. But what do I know.
‘Mean and nasty’ sums it up perfectly. Dimbleby doesn’t get the irony of his last few words. The BBC are trying to impose their will on the country. How many elections have they won?
Funny how these same Beeboids who are saying that someone who won three elections “imposed her will” on a country also say that someone in the US who won two elections is the embodiment of the hopes and dreams of His country, and all who oppose His policies are in the wrong.
did anyone have the misfortune to catch VD 😀 ….
on bbc 5live churning out the sob story on gitmo the other day. http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b01rw2q2/
(40 mins)
ala hunger striking terrorists etc …
as a corrective look at this..(.I have read and checked the information…the classical references to Roman cuisine (three course meals) have been known to me since translating Apicius at school!)
I wonder if the Quisling (formerly published in Manchester) will be running a piece about how it’s broadcast arm immediately pushed the idea that the Boston bombing was carried out by far-right (those who do not vote Democrat) groups. Causing such members to hold their breath fearing a collective backlash.
As I saw it The Quisling Broadcasting Corporation reached this stunning conclusion on the basis that the month of April had some resonance with said groups. I suppose if it had happened in May Evan&Justine would have been asking ‘why aren’t the FBI looking for someone called Mary’.
with that in mind george al bbc reports that 4 more of those “… victms” from luton have been in court today
something about wishing mass murder/ terrorist training camps/ planning bombs … poor little doves eh!
no good typing muslim 😀 … just type in 4 men luton
this is the bbc after all.
“Hymns … than a beardy man in a frock gave a broadcast for the Labour Party” – Jeremy Clarkson in today’s Sun. I can’t find it online but it’s worth paying 40p for the paper just to read it … “I was abroad when Baroness Thatcher died. But the BBC’s impartial website kept me abreast of the mood back in Britain.
They told me that people were pouring out of their homes to rejoice at the news. There were street parties and spontaneous outpouring of joy.
…
I only met Mrs Thatcher once and all she could talk about was the hopeless left-wing bias of the BBC.
…
On the morning of the event, I checked the BBC website for updates and the news was grim. They were talking about massive protests … They were even advertising a Facebook page to help those who wanted to go along and throw some fruit …
…
Nothing was thrown. Apart from a few flowers. And if anybody jeered they were drowned out by the applause. Looks like the BBC got it spectacularly wrong.”
The latest Human right violations committed by Israel as reported by the bBC: Gazans barred from West Bank marathon
Israel is refusing permission for Palestinian runners from the Gaza Strip to take part in a marathon in the West Bank city of Bethlehem. The race on 21 April will be the first marathon to be held in the occupied Palestinian territory. But the Israeli military says the athletes do not meet the criteria required to leave Gaza. Twenty-two Gazan runners, including former Olympian, Nadar al-Masri, hoped to reach the start line. A woman, Sanaa Abu-Bahit, also planned to participate in a shorter race.
Can anybody please explain why the democratically elected government in Gaza which forbade women from running within its own borders is more than happy to allow women to travel through a Nazis wonderland in which to take part in a race in occupied land.
I don’t subscribe to the view that there is a complex conscious Left-wing conspiracy at work within the BBC.
Just as Mrs Thatcher is so often misquoted and misinterpreted in relation to her soundbite ‘there is no such thing as society’ comments, so I could suggest that there is no such thing as a BBC. There is, however, a collection of individuals.
A good deal of the malaise at the heart of our national broadcaster is the consequence of the personality and outlook of the individuals there.
For example: A typical jobbing actor – famous, talented, wealthy, popular – but still just a jobbing actor – is Oxbridge graduate Stephen Mangan.
He has never, as far as know, even played the part of a PM having to restructure an ailing economy, lead a nation in wartime or face down the Soviet threat.
Meanwhile a journeyman BBC presenter, famous, talented (?), wealthy, popular (?) – but still just a journeyman BBC presenter is Richard Bacon.
Look how these two luvvies connect to contradict a member of the public and how they agree their Left-wing anti-Mrs T point over that favourite BBC medium Twitter.
Stephen Mangan @StephenMangan 17 Apr
A nation mourns (via @richardpbacon) pic.twitter.com/iLDWgq3Gro
[AsISeeIt : photo of empty street appears in Mangan’s Tweet: Fleet Street prior to arrival of the funeral cortege. I’ve no idea what the time of this photo was taken – the point is that he wanted to make a point]
Yaniola Yaniola @YaniolaButt 16h
@StephenMangan @richardpbacon Thats a very bitchy photo & completly untrue maybe how you would have liked it to be?
richard bacon richard bacon @richardpbacon 16h
@YaniolaButt @stephenmangan in what way is the photo untrue? On parts of the Strand there was hardly anyone there.
Mild stuff you might think. For anyone interested Mangan’s Twitter account shows him taking a very standard Left /Labour line ‘she devastated communities’ ‘she restructured finacial markets leading directly to current economic crisis’ etc etc
I guess that, aside from his acting, politicking is a bit of a hobby of his. The line that made me chuckle was this ‘took Britain from being one of most equal societies in Europe to one of most unequal’
I haven’t looked at statistics for European income/wealth distributions overtime – but I’m guessing Mangan hasn’t either. I’m guessing he is quoting from something he read in the Guardian/overheard at a dinner party/ heard on the BBC?
Well let’s begin to set this wealth inequality thing straight. Let’s begin with the publicly funded luvvies.
Time for George Osborne to create a VEIPHRT? (Voluntary Entertainment Industry Practitioner Higher Rate Tax) at say 90%?
If anyone can come up with a more catchy acronym I’d be much obliged.
‘she restructured financial markets leading directly to current economic crisis’
————————————————————————–
Agreed – how juvenile is that argument.
Yep, and every car crash fatality is Henry Ford’s fault. Nothing to do with the driver, Mad Gordon Macruin, getting behind the wheel to drive home after a wee nicht oot wi’ Charlie Kennedy.
Yeah, right Bacon. There was hardly anyone along the Strand…not from the TV pictures that I saw. And along Fleet Street? Take a look at this and then go and hide behind the sofa.
Mind you in fairness to the mindless Bacon, he might have been taking his lead from fellow leftie Jon Snow who had blogged that crowds were only two or three deep as he walked along the route.
That said, the lefties did get their act together later on after it became clear that people had turned out in their tens of thousands: Clearly disappointed, Dimblebly (she imposed her will on Britain), implied that the crowds were there for the ceremony; Jon Snow and his fellow C4 lefties, suggesting something similar – implying that there were not many Thatcher ‘supporters’ mainly ‘eventers’, passers by, tourists and office workers. The FT’s take was similarly pink – suggesting it was the curious that had turned up. It almost goes without saying that Guardianista’s by the bandwagonload were lining up to jump aboard the ‘they weren’t really their to pay their respects’ rationale for the huge crowds.
Actually, this was another of those ‘litmus test’ occasions where, in an instant, so-called impartial broadcasters were caught out by their querulous, almost ‘organic’ reaction; attempting to justifying something that they were confronted by that was, to their mind, unexpected, completely outside their groupthink and their idealist, Marxist view of the world.
It really must be a bugger for them! Marxism would be so simple if it wasn’t for the people.
hey bbc you were right, sure look like ole whitey breivik republican mcveigh .waco stylee… erm saudi? types to me.
hmm no one has been arrested, but all Saudis have been cleared?
After Kerry, the other day, now Barack Obama has unplanned meeting with the Saudi Foreign Minister today? http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/04/17/usa-saudi-obama-idUSL2N0D42O520130417
As always, whatever the issue, it’s all seen through the prism of Him. The BBC’s US President editor on form as usual.
Mardell raises an eyebrow at the President’s claim that Republicans lied about the bill, but has never made a peep about the President lying that the lunatic kid used a “fully automatic weapon” in Sandy Hook. And for this experienced professional journalist to say that he’s unsure of where the President is going with all this is the biggest joke of all. Does this veteran political hack not know why people call Him the Community Organizer-in-Chief? Does Mardell actually not know what the Organizing for America thing is all about?
The President is a relatively young man, and will be out of power in three years, unable to do a damn thing politically after that. Which He knows all too well. That’s why he’s been slowly organizing this national political activist network, amassing huge amounts of cash: so He can continue agitating in future, and use His money and influence and speechifying to continue to influence politics for years to come. It’s what He does best, after all, and all He’s ever really known, other than a couple years giving Constitutional law lectures.
How can Mardell not understand this? He really doesn’t deserve his job.
OTish, but I thought interesting given the often interesting way certain publicly-funded (some to a unique extent) bodies respond to feedback from their service recipients: http://www.nesta.org.uk/publications/assets/features/gripes_grumbles_and_grievances_the_role_of_complaints_in_transforming_public_services ‘But getting complaints is much better than not getting complaints – they show that people think it’s worth complaining and that they will be listened to, and that they believe that they have power to influence the system. They are a good sign of democracy in action.’
Some may feel the default BBC CECUTT response to any complaint is often less than celebratory.
Possibly a hint as to how that may reflect on the BBC’s feelings about ‘democracy in action’?
looks like the fbi are trying covering up the real identitys of the boston bombers, what odds they are trying to blame it on some white guy who is innocent,if it was a white guy who done it i am sure the fbi would of released his image by now.
?? What particular planet is Sirota visiting from?. I don’t want to be picky but he is comparing apples an bananas. Yes many school shootings are conducted at the hands of white men, but lets see, how many mass terrorist attacks have been committed by organised “white dudes” in the last few years.
I suppose that we have to admit that there was the the worst terrorist atrocity of all time – committed by an organised white (Serbian to boot) gang, the “black hand” using Gavrillo Princip in 1914 and starting WW1 – pretty important but recently unless I am mistaken there are two horrors that you can legitimately lay at the feet of ideologically motivated white extremists (I am willing to be corrected, my memory may not be accurate) and McVeigh was a lone nutter as was Breivik. Then we have the the RAF, IRA and ETA (their murders seemingly de toxified and pretty much on the OK side of the leftist spectrum of acceptable political ‘direct action’) but as for your run of the mill political terrorism whose atrocity merchants attacked and continue to attack London, Tel Aviv, Madrid, Moscow, Beslan, New York, Tanzanea; they have something in common and really do have a consistent common motivation. Bluntly this is not that that they were perpetrated by secretive conspiracy of white supremacists, protected by their ‘privilege’ fantasising about a ‘fourth reich’.
Sirota conflates massacres in schools perpetrated by ‘lone wolf white nutters’ with an organised and systematic terrorist strategy and concludes
“However, white male privilege means white men are not collectively denigrated/targeted for those shootings — even though most come at the hands of white dudes.”
Is that because there is no obvious common factor at work other than that they have testicles and happen to be white and perhaps felt alienated at school?
No as simple as that. Stuart. I am quoting from one of the sources I have posted above.
“According to terrorism expert Steve Emerson, 20-year-old Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, the Saudi national first suspected of being involved in Monday’s twin bomb attack, is being hastily deported. As World Net Daily’s Joe Kovacs documents, “Saudi student Alharbi shares the same last name as a major Saudi clan that includes scores of al-Qaida operatives.”
The Alharbi clan has long been active in al-Qaida. Khaled bin Ouda bin Mohammed al-Harbi, for example, is a Saudi national who joined Osama bin Laden’s mujahadeen group in the 1980s. He reportedly became an al-Qaida member in the mid-1990s. He turned himself in to Saudi authorities in 2004 as part of an amnesty deal.
The BBC reported Khaled Alharbi was married to the daughter of al-Qaida’s number two, Ayman al-Zawahri. He reportedly appeared with bin Laden in a video praising the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
Another top al-Qaida operative is Adel Radi Saqr al-Wahabi al-Harbi, a Saudi national identified by the State Department as “a key member of an al-Qaida network operating in Iran.”
Given the fact that the Obama administration has sent more than half a billion dollars and the CIA is shipping weapons to FSA rebels in Syria who pledged allegiance to and are led by Al-Qaeda militants, the notion that one of these militants would carry out an attack on U.S. soil would be extremely damaging to the White House.”
This kind of thing is what the media used to treat as meat and drink to their calling. Where did the media go?
Of course not, we will have 3 weeks of wailing and gnashing of teeth for the old terrorist. ‘Black’ armbands will be issued to all journos on the Al Beeb and Channel Four.
At least we might get a day off and another sink estate with his name on it!
For those who did themselves a favour by missing Todays plats du jours , as offered this morning between 7 and 8…here we go!
1. Syria-we`re funding Al Quesda!…but hey, the moderates will cut their claws for us….for Gods sake, get in there Hague.
2. U.S.A-mighty righty whitey over there prevents The Big O from living out the BBCs dream in removing all guns from the rednecks( except for Obama himself of course, who still will need protection…from the angry whitey righty lot who`ll no longer have guns…er…something like that.
3. Distressed house sales-slick online cowboys ripping off those needing to seel quickly…for Gods sake OFT…your report! You and Yours agree-won`t somebody DO something?
4. Brighton druggie shooting galleries please c/o ratepayers, grey area re legality, but the Paddick rules might apply, if the BBC ask nicely. Let`s go on our bike and see how the Dutch do it!..see?…so civilised. What`s keeping you , you judgemental proles-free drugs NOW!
5. Carbon Credits-no one`s using them. Wake up E.U, and make them expensive and mandatory to stop the slick businessmen(note 3, above!)
6. Paralysed bloke tells the BBc he wants to die, but the bloody doctors and the law prevent it. Come on, you judgemental proles-euthanasia NOW(same as 4 above really!)
7. “British” bloke in Gitmo-oh really has some transatlantic Reprieve lawyer telling Hague to wake up, and send a file in the Koran for his escape. Sounds fine to the BBC!( Same as point 1 really!).
So there you have them…which one is YOUR specialist subject for study…the crapness of Hague, the barbaric rules of The Man, or the need for new laws to stuff the Businessman or the “gun lobby”?
Good old BBC…North Korea and Sweeney is so last Monday now!
Did the BBC mention Swansea, measles epidemics, MMR and Andrew Wakefield again?….seems to be a runner these days on most bulletins…in fact I was worried since it hadn`t been mentioned these last few days, and thought it was not a crisis. Silly me!
Maybe if we gave Swansea a shooting gallery or two, then we could vaccinate them with heroin …or er, ..oh..
Bloody Thatcher eh?
the Telegraph reports that :
The Old Bailey heard how the apprentice chef was “obsessed with little white girls” and had even considered getting a job in childcare in order to gain access to a ready source of victims
The BBC doesn’t because obviously such censorship is essential to maintain good race relations.
“But it has now emerged that Nigerian born Jaji was convicted of a similar sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl in February 2011 for which he served just five months in detention.”
then
“The Probation Service announced an investigation into whether more could have been done to prevent the rape”
answers on a postcard please.
You can guess what I think of this individual but I certainly wouldn’t dream of saying it in public. A classic example of a corrupt and broken immigration policy and yet there is no accountability.
http://tradingaswdr.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/access.html? ‘..essentially left with The Guardian unfettered..`”
It is possible that many within the BBC may not find any changes have been or need to be made.
But I too have found an unwelcome pop-up heralding a new restriction to my ‘news’ surfing extent.
The Telegraph has been a source for a while, but paying for their version of events is a step that has to be left only to those with unique backing in this regard.
Not great timing, as some have noticed, and reacted poorly to their trend to claiming interactivity whilst closing threads to comments… a lot.
Maybe market forces can offer consumer feedback to see them change, especially as ‘support’ is not compelled no matter what.
Continuing to build their poisonous caricature of Margaret Thatcher the BBC ‘invited’* that slimy sleazeball Mandelson into their Today studios yesterday morning – the day of the funeral, no less – to give him a platform to slag off the former PM. The accusation he made is so mind boggling makes you wonder why he didn’t make it when she was alive and in full control of her faculties so she could, like, you know, defend herself. Oh, forgot, we’re talking about a New Labour slimy sleazeball here….
‘She came up to me and she said I’ve got one thing to say to you, my boy. She said, you can’t trust the Irish they’re all liars, she said, liars, and that’s what you have to remember so just don’t forget it.
“With that she waltzed off and that was my only personal exposure to her.”
As the old saying goes, when they put teeth in his gob they spoilt a good c**t.
* Couldn’t possibly have been any collusion involved.
Labour took the ward with a majority of only 13 votes and a man with an islamic name was the winning candidate. Surely this election cannot stand – I would have thought that this blatant scandal would be worth a bit of the journalistic muscle that #3.5bn PA buys for the worlds most perfect broadcaster….. After all they hold democratic values very close to their hearts – unfortunately this seems to only be the case when the right party ‘wins’.
I dont know if this is happening nationwide or not but recently we had a psni road safety campaign here in Northern Ireland that started pushing the message that theres no such thing as an accident, someone is always to blame.
Well, true to form the beeb are now using there travel bulletins etc. to inform drivers that traffic is disrupted due to a crash whereas not that long ago it was due to an accident.
Just another example of the cosy relationship enjoyed by the psni and our tame media .
I live in a very ‘white’ area – the college I work in has problems achieving diversity targets . But tonight on Look North there was a piece about a school choir which is in a national final. A panning shot of the choir showed about 40 children of whom I counted 5 black children. Every single black child either spoke a vox pop to camera or was shown in close up – plus some of the white ones I will admit. Chance of a close up if black – 100%; if white about 20%. Stupid BBC – locals will known that this is not representative of the area.
I note that this is happening across TV now. There is almost always a black person in the television adverts nowadays, even in those that use graphics. I commented to someone recently that at least Admiral Car Insurance, with its silly little cartoon characters, hadn’t gone down that route, but now I see that it has. They also depict mixed marriage couples in many adverts. The advertising powers that be may want us to think that this is representative of British society today, but it certainly is not. Why do they take us for such fools? And why do they use childish cartoons when advertising products, such as car insurance, that only adults will buy? They insult our intelligence. However, at least we are not paying an annual tax for the privilege of watching them.
Inbbc, news at ten. I think I’ll nominate Lardell for an oscar after his rendition of wonder and awe of the way The One has responded in the face of adversity.
Newsnight tonight devoted most of the programme to the 20th anniversary of the death of St Stephen of Lawrence. Blah, blah, blah, institutional racism, blah, blah, blah, racist murder… lots of waffle from da yoof about stop and search and nothing really changing.
I wonder why they relegated the next story to second class status. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/fbi-releases-photos-boston-bombing-suspects.
Oh, I understand now – FBI looking for a ‘black man and a white man’ in connection with the Boston bombings.
Use this link instead-http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2311341/First-pictures-Boston-bombers-FBI-releases-chilling-images-TWO-suspects-carrying-backpacks-marathon-crowds.html- one of them has a hooter that only ‘asians’ have.
Nicely ambivalent since it applies to the European predominantly Mediterranean countries like Greece, Cyprus and Italy. Instant deniability against accusation of racism.
When there is a big forehead, they begin to struggle. East African? Hook nose ..errr ummm.. help!
Elsewhere the BBC’s finest are digging further holes in the corporation’s credibility as hordes of Flokkers swarm around trying to clog things up with their unique belief-based ‘contributions’.
Meanwhile there is more substantive fare on offer: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/paedophile#comment-37480 ‘”A hard copy has been prepared for you if you would like to provide us with an address.”
The important word here being ‘copy’, so it is possible to scan these documents and print them out to send, but not scan them and save them instead – bizarre in the extreme.
Uniquely so.
When they opt to play games, even with their classic attrition strategy, the laws of unintended consequences can kick in.
Remember that some at the BBC openly stated before there was any evidence that Palin bore responsibility for the Tucson killings because she had a map with a few reticles on it, and Katty Kay wondered if the political tone from Sarkozy contributed to the Toulouse killings (evidence for all is on the “In Their Own Tweets” page), yet had no problem declaring before there was any evidence that Islam had no connection to the Boston bombing.
It is a double standard, and it is widespread across the BBC. And they clearly refuse to learn the necessary lesson.
They are expressing an infantile world view wherein there is good, bad and almost nothing in-between, as in a children’s fairy story. The use of “The Wicked Witch” against Lady Thatcher is a revealing choice of insult. So Obama, Mandela and co are beyond critical scrutiny while there is little attempt to understand Mrs Palin’s appeal, just smears.
Industrial capitalism or Financial capitalism.
What capitalism was it, that was introduced to the UK?
Who benefits now, when UK taxpayers cash is paying for the derivative market to keep afloat and to prevent derivative bubble from bursting?
So maybe we should ship the UK unemployed to the China sweatshops, since UK industry was shipped over also. Or do we wait for the UK benefit sweatshops to open?
After all its all about the capital financial gain, since the government enforce the legal fiction on behalf of its public.
Not exactly bias, but a pretty unsatisfactory effort by the beebyanka: “Could We Survive a Mega-Tsunami?” Quite a few years ago, BBC2 and Channel 4 produced identikit programmes about the threat which a Canary Islands volcano posed to places on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
They were so similar that the same London academic, one Bill McGuire, was called upon in both to make our flesh creep. The only real difference was that the first one concentrated on the threat to the eastern seaboard of the US, but the second, presumably on the logic that it wasn’t going to get many American viewers, introduced the “You’re all going to die!” theme for the south of England, too.
Now we have a third, again featuring Professor Bill McGuire and again spelling out the threat to the south coast and to American cities such as Washington and, especially, New York.
Beyond the shameless re-cycling of material more than a few years old, there wasn’t any particularly “green” slant (no attempt to blame our lifestyle for volcanic activity, for instance). There was a link to the alarmist scam, however, in the reliance on computer models to predict the extent of the coming disaster.
The wave hitting New York in the latest version was scary, but a long way short of the mile high wave in the original, but that was predicted by computer models, too. Is there something about computer models which the beebyanka is reluctant to share with us?
I didn’t see this new one, but if it was intended to stir up the public, my twitter & FaceBook feeds suggest they succeeded.
Was there anything new or persuasive in this one after the last?
It was gripping stuff citing other land slip-created events, such as one down a Canadian fjord if I recall. 100m scouring along the banks.
Plus some scary stuff in the lab, dropping shale at one end of a Perspex trough and tracking the displaced wave along its length.
Thing is, looking at any such event in the open oceans, I have to wonder what difference the radial ripple effect would be in distributing the wave energy unconstrained. From the islands to anywhere there’s a fair old spread and distance vs. focused channels.
To get from the Canaries up to devastate Land’s End to Dover would need a fair old hunk of energy if also obliterating The Falklands to Greenland and maybe West Africa, Portugal & France Atlantic coasts too.
There is absolutely NO danger of a mega Tsunami hitting the USA from the canary Islands.
As any ‘A’ level sudent can tell you, waves have a tendency to spread out. The wave in the Fjord that everyone quotes wasn’t allowed to do so and some of the height was caused by hydraulic damming (the water being unable to get away quickly enough caused the water behind it to pile up). The recent earthquakes in the pacific released far more energy and caused minuscle Tsunamis in the cost of North America.
Off track , I know. What I can’t understand is that many of this group of intelligent people pay for a product – the BBC. It “fails to do what it says on the tin” eg it is not impartial in its news but worse it’s inluence through its mis-information and lack of information is potentially toxic to all that consume it. Yet it appears they spend more time discussing it amongst themselves rather than complaining to the product provider directly and campaigning to get the defects or even the product itself. removed “from the shelves”
I see what you mean but there have been e-petitions on here which people can sign and contributors have detailed complaints made to the BBC and how they have been dealt with. The BBC has such a presence, far in excess of that of the Murdoch empire, that it is hard to avoid. The £145 Poll Tax is enforced strictly – just try moving house if you don’t believe me – and a relative of mine, who has never had a TV in her life, had a lot of trouble convincing them of this. I like Radio 4 but it is hard to avoid the bias in comedy, drama, current affairs, etc, which is the price you have to pay for quality speech radio. This site does lift my morale: it’s nice to know that it’s not just me, and that is worth a great deal.
There is a “Do you need a TV licence?” feature in the Money Saving Expert email for this week (17/04/13). Apparently it goes out to some 8m recipients. The feature details what you can, and cannot watch without a TV licence.
I cancelled my TV licence some time ago. It wasn’t a money saving exercise. Indeed, I have probably spent more than the “saved” licence fee on content. But, I enjoy the freedom to watch the content I choose to watch.
It only took a couple of weeks to adjust to not watching the television programme service. And, for the record, I also choose NOT to watch the BBC IPlayer, though legally I could. However, I do listen to BBC talk radio as alternatives are less available.
From the earliest reports our man in the US shared with us what he termed ‘security chatter’ that the Boston Maranthon bombers (if they were bombs?!!!) were likely to have been ‘home grown’ and inspired by some brand of ‘extreme right wing’ motivation.
BBC 10 o’Clock News and Newsnight.
It seems we will soon have some news so as to be able to judge the veracity of BBC US correspondent Mark Mardell’s hints.
If he is proved correct I will happily take my hat off to him and pay my next Licence Fee.
If he is wrong I will want to know why he put up a smokescreen.
Is he working for the BBC Islam protection department?
Or the US Obama administration Islam protection department?
Go on George R, clearly explain how the BBC are “promoting his plan”? Melanie Phillips failed to provide evidence of BBC “promotion” in her article; perhaps you can do better.
Because the BBC did not point out that Mr. Trace had an agenda for liberalizing drugs, or the self-appointed nature of the commission he worked for. Nor did they raise any counter arguments to the claims Trace made.
So giving a green light to a very contentious view is tantamount to promotion-by-selectivity.
Also you should give up your day job and become a consultant in speed reading and comprehension as you must have had 5-6 minutes to read the article, digest its contents and then post.
Get this one. Introducing some Branch Davidian Wac(k)o apologist, Nikki ‘Lepollyfinish’ Campbell mentioned that federal agents
*who claimed they were looking for illegal weapons*
attempted to enter the site*
Now isn’t that ‘who claimed’ just a classic. Carries with it ever such a stench of ‘they claimed but I for one don’t believe them’.
Such a shame then that intrepid news anchor Doubting Nikki wasn’t there at the time, he could have said to the BATF, ‘no guns there folks, look, ahll walk in and show you’.
Anyway just for Tonightonthebigwheel’s benefit…

What with the Boston bombings, Thatcher’s funeral, the Waco explosion, the Islam terror plot jailings, the rape of an 11 year old, the BBC has obviously considers this a quiet news period and has found plenty of time on News24 to discuss its favourite topics. Two days ago, shooting galleries and yesterday assisted suicide.
Gosh I wonder how they will ever find the time for this if the news ever gets heavy.
I’m waiting for my particular favourite BBC campaign – the introduction of a law that makes a presumption that everyone wants their organs ‘harvested’ and that you have to “opt out”. Yep, the BBC presumes that the NHS owns your body
This is a one week campaign that they run twice a year.
The BBC is Guardian reader stream of consciousness. I wonder what the Left are fretting about today – just turn on the BBC to find out. It is like looking into the birdcage of a dead parrot.
As an ornithologist, I know the Islington Red quite well. It’s a very distant relation of the common Barnsley Red.
The way to tell the difference is to examine the feathers underneath. The Barnsley Red is entirely red whereas the inner feathers of the Islington Red have a distinct bluish hue when viewed in a certain light.

Legalise it, I’ll advertise it.

I wonder if the Quisling (formerly published in Manchester) will be running a piece about how it’s broadcast arm immediately pushed the idea that the Boston bombing was carried out by far-right (those who do not vote Democrat) groups. Causing such members to hold their breath fearing a collective backlash.
As I saw it The Quisling Broadcasting Corporation reached this stunning conclusion on the basis that the month of April had some resonance with said groups. I suppose if it had happened in May Evan&Justine would have been asking ‘why aren’t the FBI looking for someone called Mary’.

They told me that people were pouring out of their homes to rejoice at the news. There were street parties and spontaneous outpouring of joy.

I only met Mrs Thatcher once and all she could talk about was the hopeless left-wing bias of the BBC.

On the morning of the event, I checked the BBC website for updates and the news was grim. They were talking about massive protests … They were even advertising a Facebook page to help those who wanted to go along and throw some fruit …

Take my advice, don’t watch it when it comes out; if you do you will regret it

They might shift it to New Jersey where the population has been greatly enriched.

Tax the Leftie Luvvies

Agreed – how juvenile is that argument.
Yep, and every car crash fatality is Henry Ford’s fault. Nothing to do with the driver, Mad Gordon Macruin, getting behind the wheel to drive home after a wee nicht oot wi’ Charlie Kennedy.

And nothing to do with him relieving the B of E of its supervisory role which, amazingly, had worked a treat for good many years.

And I’m pretty sure that the Financial Services Marketing Act (replacing the BoE with the FSA) probably had something to do with it.
Now which political party introduced it?

Yeah, right Bacon. There was hardly anyone along the Strand…not from the TV pictures that I saw. And along Fleet Street? Take a look at this and then go and hide behind the sofa.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2310773/Margaret-Thatchers-farewell-echoes-Sir-Winston-Churchills-funeral-time-stood-.html

OTish, but I thought interesting given the often interesting way certain publicly-funded (some to a unique extent) bodies respond to feedback from their service recipients:
http://www.nesta.org.uk/publications/assets/features/gripes_grumbles_and_grievances_the_role_of_complaints_in_transforming_public_services
‘But getting complaints is much better than not getting complaints – they show that people think it’s worth complaining and that they will be listened to, and that they believe that they have power to influence the system. They are a good sign of democracy in action.’
Some may feel the default BBC CECUTT response to any complaint is often less than celebratory.
Possibly a hint as to how that may reflect on the BBC’s feelings about ‘democracy in action’?

”Let’s hope the Boston bomber is a White American.” by David Sirota

A computer model is only as good as the programs and data put into it by humans.
Garbage in, garbage out !

One and a third million people now do not pay the licence fee, including me.
Join the crowd, the more people that join the crowd, the more you will be lost in the crowd.
They can no longer cope, and just send out threatening letters.
If they visit, do not let them in, and say you haven’t watched live TV since the switch over.

The Boston News Stranglers

“The drug zealot I exposed a decade ago and how the BBC’s promoting his plan for heroin ‘shooting galleries'”

Go on George R, clearly explain how the BBC are “promoting his plan”? Melanie Phillips failed to provide evidence of BBC “promotion” in her article; perhaps you can do better.
To summarise Melanie Phillips.
A hearty well done.

No need to speed read. I had already read the article before George R posted his comment.

Er….could i please have one of the Beretta 92’s, please? Home defence of course, time the police arrive to an aggravated burglary i could be dead, while they ponce about with their H&Ks and glocks strapped to their legs, looking hard……sigh, so much for assuring the public of protection while dis-arming us……

Sorry.
Did I say ‘intrepid news anchor’?
I meant to say ‘low rent excuse for a light entertainer’.
My bad.

… but instead of a Norwegian Blue, it’s an Islington Red.

Doesn’t the Islington Red resemble the common parrot in its habit of repeating whatever its told no matter how silly?
