A RIGHT ROYAL DISGRACE…

We already know how the BBC lavishes praise on the shrew Labour MP Margaret Hodge in her role as Chairman (sic) of the Public Accounts Committee. So when the Duchy of Cornwall representative William Bye was invited to appear before this Labour dominated Star Chamber, one could be sure that the BBC would fall in behind Labour is suggesting that the Duchy of Cornwall is dodging tax. There was an item on Today this morning before 7am on the topic and it was clear the BBC (Along with Labour) wanted to imply that Prince Charles is a tax dodger.  The Guardian – the BBC in print – gives you a taste here of what the Comrades discussed this morning.

i agree, if you follow hodge’s logic, umpteen other medium sized business would be up before the committee – like her family firm.

Yes, I was going to post on this. Wasn’t Hodge questioned recently over the tax affairs of her firm? She’s a sanctimonious attention-seeker.

If Obama had a sanctimonious, attention-seeking hypocrite, she’d sound just like Ms. Hodge.
        Only with an American accent.
In fact, it’s possible he may already have a few in place.
All with a direct line to Katty Kay, too.

Hodge said her company paid ‘every penny’ of the tax it owed. why doesnt it pay its “fare share” of tax. from wiki

Stemcor, Hodge’s family company, was founded by her father Hans Oppenheimer more than 60 years ago. Analysing Stemcor’s latest accounts in the same way as the PAC has approached other multinational companies shows that the business expected to pay UK corporation tax of just £157,000 on revenues in the UK of more than £2.1bn in 2011

Yes but they are Labour therefore they do not have to comply with tax or any other laws.

The BBC – Guardian with moving pictures – is simply following up on a theme already covered by fellow liberal campaigners at Channel 4

    http://www.channel4.com/programmes/dispatches/4od#3543384

‘In 2012 Prince Charles earned more than £18 million from the Duchy of Cornwall, but how much do we know about this secretive estate? ‘

Obvious soft target – well covered elsewhere. The BBC do this anti-Royal stuff to provide some more Leftist mood music.

Yes, the language of the ignorant trying to paint a picture to get an audience: “this secretive estate”, rubbish, everything is subject to supervision by the Treasury!

In order to serve the growing swell of feeling in our country it is about time the state organ aired the all but invisible idea of a Republic! After all, where did this royal family get their disproportionate wealth from in the first place?

    • Thoughtful says:

Perhaps you would define ‘the first place’ a little more clearly? The genealogy goes a long way back into the dark ages where there isn’t much written historical fact available.

Ah, that “growing” something-or-other in favour of a Republic, again.

      Evidence?

Such a swell that the republicans had to go to ‘rent-a-mob Sweden’ to bolster their numbers during the diamond jubilee and even then they still couldn’t raise a bakers dozen. Though that didn’t stop the Bourgeois Broadcasting Collective giving them ( like the hand full of patrician class brats that held ‘thatcher parties )disproportionate air time .
The only place there is a ‘republican swell’ is in the BBC staff canteen while their swilling down their shiraz

Well I’m afraid it is part of my culture to have a Royal Family. The system is not ideal but what is? It seems to have worked reasonably well in comparison with the history of other less happy major European nations. But I suppose the ‘if it ain’t broke’ maxim never seems to bother the progressives.

The BBC do sometimes bring up the subject of full blown Republicanism which ticks their Leftie box. However, they prefer a policy of snide disrespectful coverage of matters Royal.

Far higher up on the BBC list of priorities are:

    Labour or Lib/Lab election prospects
    Higher public spending
TV Licence renewal at a higher rate
    Legalisation of narcotics
    EU integration
    No women to be jailed

    Nah, Charles is a muppet!
Doubtless he`s a scammer, like all those liberal great and good who like the poor where they are, whilst shedding crocodile moistness for them.
Very much a Miliband or Toynbee…only one who`ll hand the nation over to Anjem Choudury.
Hope to God that the Queen stays on, royalty are a waste of space, but can`t and won`t fault her or Philip…or even Anne!

Why is the British public so brainwashed? Hey, the royals are not divine! How many votes did they get? If there were a non-bbc election, with all the facts of all the sides properly and completely presented, then perhaps reason might prevail. If the royals want to stand for staying in “office”, then let them convince the nation. The real reason we do not adopt the Euro is because there are those medievalists among us who can’t stand the thought of removing her head from our money!
