HEAR NO EVIL SPEAK NO EVIL.

Over here in Northern Ireland, the BBC has been pushing the World Police and Fire Games. Heard of them? No? Me neither until the Stormont Executive got hold of the idea that hosting such a strange event would be a wizard wheeze. Met with almost universal indifference over here, the BBC has been doing its best to hype the event, going so far as to give us recorded highlights of the Opening ceremony which take place last evening. But perhaps MOST sickening was how the BBC zoomed in on IRA godfather Martin McGuinness as he gave a welcoming speech to the competitors. You will remember how MANY Police officers the IRA slaughtered and maimed. All of this is casually forgotten and the BBC plays its designated role as the sanitiser in chief for a political process that places terrorist godfathers as the smiling face of Northern Ireland. Oh, and the BBC does not seem to want to ask why NO national flags can be carried at this event. Heaven forbid mcGuinness should see a Union Flag about the place.

Sounds more like a firing squad instruction.
One looks forward to a legacy of decades inspiring future police and firemen to higher, longer, faster levels of physical excellence.

Surely you can’t mean that delightful fellow whose only interests was the education of youngsters in Ireland; he surely had nothing to do with any beastliness.

“This is a country at peace, this is a country looking very much to the future,” the deputy first minister said

Yes, I bet he hopes they all keep looking that way.

Look out folks we have another goat worrier on the prowl, try to ignor it, it will go back under its bridge eventually and leave the grown ups to have a sensible conversation on the issue.

“………. the BBC does not seem to want to ask why NO national flags can be carried at this event.”

If this is the case what are the people carrying in their hands in the opening scene of the video that accompanies the article you cite?

“Heaven forbid mcGuinness should see a Union Flag about the place.”

It would seem that the home nations are competing individually rather that as the UK or Great Britain. Perhaps that is the reason no Union Flag was in evidence.

I didn’t see it on the video so could you let me know which flag the NI team is carrying?

AIUI the IRA spend a lot of time on the internet, Wikipedia especially deleting any reference to the NI flag and claiming there isn’t one. Rather that than the deletion of policemen and firemen that they used to prefer.

I`d watch out for the trafficking of “starter guns” for the races if I were you.
Sounds like a superannuated sports day, with an excuse to swap drugs in my opinion.
Be better if they just painted it up on all those derelict shop frontages like they did for the G20 or whatever a while back!
PS Well done Mary Robinsons hairdressing lady that made the poor saint wash her own locks as reprisal for The Robsters gladhanding Adams back in 1993.
Do you think she did Shirley Williams` too?..all these poor ladies having to wash their own hair.
Never let it be said that lefty liberal ladies don`t suffer for their views at times.
    Pity poor Polly!

What amazes me is that firemen can find the time to take part, what with holding down two jobs an’ all that.
