BBC AT THE LIBDEMS CONFERENCE

Wonder what you make of the BBC coverage of the gathering of the Libdems in Scotland this past few days? It struck me as being remarkably sympathetic to Clegg and the gang. I suspect Cameron will NOT be getting such benign coverage!

Judging by the amount of coverage I have seen online in the last week (not just BBC) I must say that I am surprised as I didn’t realise the Lib Dems are clearly the most important party in the country, the biggest party in government and with – I presume – at least a million members and several million budding members interested in every move they make.

….which is odd, considering that Clegg needed police protection from his own teenaged constituents after the LidDems voted for a tuition fee rise…but maybe the fatwa is off now.

frankly speaking,i just dont see the point of any of these party conferences any more,it is just preaching to the converted, i bet the viewing figures are very low indeed, but yes, when the torys have there conference i can see sparks flying and alot tension betreen the delegates and the left wing bbc journalists who will be down manchester in there 100s living it up in there 1st class hotels and visiting the top nightclubs to do a bit of relaxing after a hard days work winding up the torys, did you know that the bbc employs 6000 journalists, just thought i would mention that before your tv licence bill is posted through your letterbox.

Quote : “Did you know that the BBC employs 6000 journalists?”. More like 6000 political activists, methinks !

Interesting article on the Today program in which the BBC distanced itself from criticism by quoting what newspapers were saying instead. Clegg was named ‘Dr No’ for all the Tory policies he has blocked, but those policies are very popular with voters. They then went on to quote the Guardian which were rather complimentary.

It seems obvious to me that as soon as Clegg said they would support the Labour party at the next election if polling figures remain the same as they currently are, the BBC were going to be sympathetic to him.
The Problem is that the Fib Dems might well be wiped out come the next election !

Your second paragraph encapsulates precisely where Al JaBeeBa are positioning themselves.

      Most thoughtful indeed!

As I pointed out elsewhere Cleggs speech was carried live on BBC News, BBC2, BBC Pariament-50% of its on air TV channels (two of the others are childrens channels) and also 5Live, it’ll be interesting to see if they give Cameron the same treatment.

The Lib Dems: pro-EU, pro-AGW, pro-‘green’ energy, pro-benefits, pro-mass immigration, pro-big government – what is there not to like for the BBC?

The problem is, the Conservatives are not that much different. Well, under Cameron that is.

Clegg and his Libdems typify a nation in steep decline. Maybe we are getting what we deserve for permitting the betrayal of a nation.
But our granchildren do not deserve this and this is reason enough to oppose every single word they utter and that goes for the rest of the so called parties as well.

Imagine facing the next UK election with the prospect of total annihilation!. I suspect they’re going to get utterly thrashed for selling out.

From what I’ve seen Lib Dems are even further left than Labour.

    Now that’s scary……

This is not a balanced, neutral website…. Why is the writer only concerned if Cameron will get the same coverage.
What about Farage, or even Labour – that would have been a neutral but fair criticism

biased BBC implies you think Yourselves as neutral?

Just reading the context of the article….would it be better to have waited a week or two (after Cameron’s conference) to actually prove your point rather than Assume -Aren’t you doing what you accuse the BBC of doing?

I am not claiming I am neutral but you appear to be – which has a different standard

Check past posts on this site, and any links on them to the BBC – then you too will get paranoid about the corporation’s political bias.

Great analysis Vance, sterling work. Is anyone surprised you thought coverage was sympathic to Clegg? I wonder why?!

I think you’ll find that coverage off the main 3 conferences are about the same….as they were last year……and the year before that.

    Must try harder.
