DOES THE C IN BBC STAND FOR CAMPBELL?

It seems that the BBC has decided that Alastair Campbell is the new champion for journalistic integrity and decency in public life. He hasn’t been off its’ major news programmes in the past few days, castigating Paul Dacre and The Mail in general. It is truly nauseating to listen to Campbell being given such prominence as he heads up a full on assault on The Mail. IF ONLY we all read The Mirror and The Guardian, and listened to the BBC. Right?

The BBC is out of control. I pray I see its downfall in my lifetime.
I seem to recall the BBC all but destroying an innocent Tory peer through revolting Newsnight allegations that stemmed from abject incompetence, journalistic idleness and lies… I also seem to remember the BBC covering up Saville’s disgusting paedo romps over decades… Moreover, I do seem to recall the BBC paying millions of our pounds to former managers as a golden handshake… and yet it has the audacity to pontificate from the moral pulpit and accuse other media publications of hate-filled lies. Frightening and simply beyond belief. As for Tony’s former minion, well… I’ll leave that one to the history books.

I think that you`ve described the Trident of issues that will shaft the BBC within our lifetimes Alex!
McAlpine, Savile and the payoffs to the likes of Entwhistle.
Ross/Brand began it all I`d say….and in any event, these topics need to keep the smug BBCs pontifications as the venal horseshit that they are.
Can I bet that the BBC will be parcelled off a la Royal Mail within 5 years…and mass disobedience over the f***in license tax to start it.
“You may say that I`m a dreamer” ….

I too thought of the BBC hypocrisy over what they did to McAlpine and their holier than thou coverage of the Miliband/Mail disagreement.

Steven Glover relates their hypocrisy in the way they covered Thatcher’s funeral.
How typically hypocritical of the Left, who danced on the grave of Mrs Thatcher, to be upset about debate over Red Ed’s Marxist father

I was the senior admin that had to administer Lord McAlpine’s biography and you should have seen the left-wing attempt to discredit him with no evidence.
It was me that also re-wrote the Bureau of Investigative Journalism article which they had been writing themselves using wikipedia as a marketing tool.

I even got an email through today from “Change.org”:

This week the news has been dominated by the Daily Mail’s coverage of Ed Miliband’s father – in which the paper said he “hated Britain”.

Alastair Campbell, former comms advisor to Tony Blair, went on the BBC’s Newsnight to debate the story. Instead of Paul Dacre, the Daily Mail’s editor, coming to the studio his deputy was put forward. The Daily Mail spokesman said the coverage was justified because Ed Miliband seeks to be Prime Minister and so it was in the public interest – while others argue it was an unjustified attack on a dead man who fought for his country.

Campbell has started a petition on Change.org issuing a challenge to Paul Dacre to go on TV and debate the story and the Mail’s role in public life. He says: “I’m hoping that if enough of us call on him to do so, Paul Dacre will agree to come into a TV studio and debate, face to face, why he thought it was appropriate to trash the name of a dead man who fought for his country”.

What do you think? Would you like to see these two major public figures debating on TV?

Unbelievable, I thought the one for “Mo’ Farrah” last week was bad enough.

Who does Campbell suggest that Dacre debates with, does he say?

There is a school of thought that says that Miliband had an objective in kicking up over this article, but that he may have now overplayed his hand.

Campbell on the other hand has his own objectives, one of which may be to promote himself into a strategic role within the election campaign. The BBC would probably welcome that too, and his performance on Newsnight the other night whilst well over the top probably went down with Labour types, but it demonstrated what an odious little scrote he really is. He is caught up in both his own ego and self importance and really should clear off back to Burnley. Quite why anyone believes a single word he utters is completely beyond comprehension.

Just to add, Campbell is no debater. He clearly demonstrated his limitations in that area on Newnsight where he came across simply too emotional.

        • Amounderness Lad says:

More like “Tired and Emotional”, almost to the point of uncontrolled hysteria when Paul Dacre steadfastly refused to play the part of Campbell’s ventriloquist’s dummy by allowing Campbell to put words in his mouth. Campbell’s behaviour was fun to watch, he exposed more about himself and his own pompous arrogance than it did the object of his obvious vendetta with his scatter gun abuse technique.

Or where. One suspects that if it was suggested anywhere but a BBC QT Star Chamber in Miliband’s constituency, Campbell would go running to the Guardian to scream bullying.

‘The BBC would finally be meeting their public service remit if they hosted such a debate’

Hence none too likely, if probably excluded… For the purposes of not highlighting how the BBC is no longer anything to do with journalism.

But at least they spelt Milibands name right…unlike Gordon Brown, who scrawled the incorrectly-spelt names of all those he sent to a needless death…merely continuing the tissue of lies that killed Kelly and many more besides..thanks to Campbells lies, his cut and paste crap dossiers as well as Blairs thrill for men in uniforms dying in deserts.
Only the BBC would see Campbell as a cultural commissar…I sense they know the game is up.

For ‘debate’ read ‘kangaroo court’. Who in their right mind would accept such an invitation, especially when it comes from the panto dame of left wing hypocrisy.

“Campbell has started a petition on Change.org ”

Channel org. 38 degrees, etc… There are now many online outfits like this ready, willing and often uniquely funded to appeal to the online warriors prepared to invest time during the day whilst the majority are at work or have something better to do.
Such petitions are daft, and worthless.
But with the BBC agitation brigade in full cry and a media estate with content voids to fill, they are easily cited and used to stir the few into looking like they represent the masses.

The BBC text service during QT is somewhat interesting in their selection, they are on average left leaning.

This is accentuated tonight by the anti Mail stance of the comments, strange as the mail sells 9 x more copies than the Guardian….

    Peter Oborne in the Telegraph intends to nail Campbell next week;

‘I have an old documents file somewhere where at the time I kept details of these smear campaigns, who the victims were, and exactly how Campbell’s New Labour publicity machine put their slurs and lies into the public domain. I am going to look out that old file now, but it will take a few days to get the material together and in a fit state to print. I intend to publish it by the middle of next week.’

Not watched QT for a few months, either I’d forgotten how biassed it is, or tonight was special. An audience of Guardianistas (note how abuses by the Guardian and Mirror were met with silence, when Schapps merely asked for balance!!!), and Hassan given his mob to play up to.. pathetic. At least with the Guardian I can choose not to buy it, with the BBC I have no choice! (and the sad thing is, I love the BBC, I just wish it lived up to its potential and seriously attempted impartiality).
